A Tea Dress for Brunch.

Hi there,
How are you today?

Glad to have you here, it certainly means a lot.
Who else loves wearing a dress, especially a lovely floaty version that’s perfect for afternoon tea. Well what about wearing a tea dress for Sunday brunch?

I’ve been kindly gifted this feminine beauty from Izabel London recently and decided to wear it on Fathers Day when we had a fun and busy day with the faimly.
We started off going to a local restaurant for brunch.  It's a venue we've been to before, in fact my daughter took me there for my Mother's Day treat back in March.  It was a hot morning, so we decided to eat in the garden.  There were many people there with a couple of them having dogs.  I don't mind having dogs at a restaurant, especially when they are outside, however the one of them wasn't 'small child friendly' so Max couldn't walk around as he'd like to have done.  The waitress who served us didn't seem particularly 'au fait' with her job and it took a while after she came to our table to place the order.  We must have waited nearly an hour for drinks and then a further 20 mins for our food to arrive, which I must add some things she got wrong!  The food was nice, but the whole experience wasn't up to our usual standard, which the owner explained was a result of us arriving for a 10.15 table (along with a whole load of other customers) and as it was Father's Day service took longer than normal!  At no point did she admit to being sorry and understanding our situation, which has left a bad taste in my mouth and I feel reluctant to go there again!

Anyway, after having a decent classic breakfast (the sausages were very tasty) we came home and popped to our local for a couple of drinks.  It was nice to sit outside in the fresh air, where David and I could chat and catch up somewhere different.  Two drinks later we came home for me to change my shoes and went to my eldest's house where all the family have a curry delivered.  There was lots of talk about forthcoming holidays, one daughter is off to Glastonbury and the other two are away to Greece next weekend, so it'll be a quiet few days with them all gone, especially with my son & his family are away to Center Parks as well!

What to wear with a Jacquard blazer - #Chicandstylish #LINKUP

Hi there my friends.
Hope you are well.
Big apologies for being a whole day late, I have no excuses!

I'm still feeling tired, probably just the fact I'm doing something everyday trying to get everything ready for next week!

How are you all?  Have you been affected by the weather?  It's so cold here in the UK with freezing temperatures and some snow, as you can imagine here in the UK everything comes to a standstill . Main roads were closed and people were stranded, my son stayed in a hotel instead of coming home, he didn't want to spend the night in the car and I don't blame him! But we're just not used to it are we!  I need to be skiing when it snows, not trying to get to the shops and running errands .. lol!

I did a stupid thing when I went shopping though, I cleared the snow off of all the car windows except the rear glass so when I went on my way. I wanted to put bits in the boot so I opened it and all the snow, which was melting, slipped into it! I was furious and had to scrape it out with my hands which were freezing.  I came home and took the carpet out to bring in doors and dry off in front of the radiator.  No problem it dried by the next day so I replaced it on my next journey out.  I placed everything back in which included a plastic bottle of screen wash - next time I opened it I found the bottle had tipped over and it had a hole in it meaning half the contents were in my boot!  It's now drying, again, by the radiator!  Fuming wasn't the word. Grrrr!!

Last week I went to Bluewater which is about 3/4 of an hour away, I had an appointment for a fitting and will be sharing my afternoon with you soon. I did a bit of shopping and got a couple of gifts, it's a good way to spread the tiring job of present buying - little and often it my motto!

Anyway I wanted to keep warm but still look chic and elegant when I went so wore this classic outfit.  What do you think, did I succeed?

Birthday Treat to The Pig - #Chicandstylish #LINKUP

Hi there my friends.
Hope you're doing well.
I'm off to Sicily tomorrow and I can't wait.  David and I have had a few holidays this year, but it will be nice to get away and be just the two of us!  David has always wanted to visit this little island off of Italy's boot, he's a big fan of the film The Godfather and has watched it more times than I can remember!  You can follow along my Instagram stories to see what I get up to my friends.

Anyway let me tell you a bit about my day yesterday.  I was lucky enough to go to lunch with my sister.  We went for my birthday treat and had a wonderful few hours dining at The Pig in Bridge.
It holds special memories for us both as years ago it used to be a Country Club with a nightclub within it.  I've had many an enjoyable evening dancing and drinking the night away so we had lots of stories to chat about.  The venue is now a very interesting old building with plenty of hidden dining areas, secret stairways, comfortable sitting locations, a lively terrace overlooking the vegetable patch and of course, some deliciously tasty food.

My Style Not Age friends share their Summer Sizzlers.

Morning all, how's it going?
Back to normality with a big bump, my holiday to Rhodes came and went in a flash!
As did July, it's nearly in August ... blimey didn't that go quick!
My holiday was full on laughter, great food, lots of drink and plenty of memory making.  It's so nice to get away sometimes, but it's so nice to come home don't you think?  It's been good to return to temperatures a bit cooler, but I have missed dipping in and out of the pool though - maybe I should invest in a swimming pool, my daughter recently bought this one and I'm very tempted to copy her!

Let's get back to the post now though.
Today it's the turn of my stylish friends from the Style Not Age collective.  This month our challenge has been set by Anna.  She's given us the brilliant and very apt prompt of Summer Sizzlers, and boy have we been sizzling in the simmering heat we've been experiencing.  I have been lucky to have the idyllic surroundings of Rhodes for my backdrop and I certainly sizzled in the heat we had there.  Everything I did was at a snails pace.  There's nothing worse when you feel hot and sweaty to have to have photos taken, so my outfit fitted the prompt perfectly as you will see below!

Chocolate culottes & Blush Blouse - #Chicandstylish #LINKUP

Hi there my lovely followers.
Hope you've been lucky enough to enjoy some sunny weather over the past few days.
It's been exciting to wear dresses and jackets and feel the sun on me.  It's also been lovely to start easing out of lock-down little by little.  The figures seem promising and are heading in the right direction, but who knows how things will pan out!
It's Easter weekend coming up and I'm planning an Easter egg hunt in the garden for the gran-kids.  I never actually had time to do this for my kids, but am pleased to have more time on my hands to arrange a hunt for my darling grand-babies.  I've got plenty of different sized chocolate eggs, little coloured buckets and some face masks my daughter found.  I can't wait to see their little faces hunting out the goodies.  All kids love chocolate don't they, as do their Nanny's ... I do hope my hubby has bought me one too - hint, hint.

Talking of chocolate, I thought I'd show you my new culottes again.  I first wore them for the Faux Leather - Style not Age challenge.  Today I've added blush pink to the equation and love how it's softened the brown culottes even more, creating a harmonious feel.

Vest, Tank or Spencer Top - What Do You Call It?

Hi there, good morning to you all.
Well haven't we had some lovely weather in the UK recently?
It's actually been warm enough to sit OUTSIDE in the sun over the weekend.  I'm sure the vitamin D worked wonders for me because on Sunday I woke up in a really happy and positive mood.  I actually wanted to get on with my jobs and enjoyed preparing the vegetables for our roast dinner.
I also feel I'm starting to get to grips of my camera and managing to get some super shots {see below} taken by my son.  Well to be honest my daughter too some great photos too but when I checked them out I realised I'd already taken & shared some piccy's of the same outfit.  Quick change of clothes and makeup so my son could take more! {the memory really isn't what it used to be}. Lol
If you saw Thursday's post you'll have seen I've been talking about the #Spencer top - other names for this item are a vest top or tank top.  You may also be like me wearing them for the second time around!  They were the height of fashion in the 70's and I vaguely remember having a navy knitted v neck that stretched in all the wrong places!  I didn't think I'd be going there again, but spotted this gorgeous lady wearing hers over a dress and immediately wanted in on the act.  I found I had one that I really didn't want to admit to, but having seen how popular they've become enjoyed styling it with a pleated skirt and plain white blouse last week. X
Here's how I styled the one I found on Ebay from Zara.

April Review.

Morning my lovely friends.
All good here in the Mummab household, the first stint of birthdays have been and the next are just around the corner - mine included, although I'm sure it will be a very different celebration than normal!

You might have seen my new series last month - my March Review re-visited some of the previous months posts and today I'm sharing the second one - my April Review.
April was a mixed bag really, some of my photos were taken prior to lock-down and the others were taken by my daughters.  I'm so lucky to have my eldest daughter and her family staying with me, but admit to having a VERY busy house so blogging has taken a bit of a back seat if I'm honest.
The latter part of the month I've been sharing more laid-back styles, but at the beginning of the month I was showing off a stunning dress I picked up in our local Debenhams closing down sale.  It's a stylish and fancy black lace dress with rivets and gold rings, but I think I'll let the dress speak for it's self.

Black Trousers a Top Ten Must- #Chicandstylish #LINKUP

Morning my friends.
This over fifty blogger is getting a tad fed up with the weather now - why wont it just go away and let the sun shine? With that said I've woken up to glorious sunshine today, but with ever changeable weather who knows what this afternoon will bring!
It's been a quiet month for Mummab, but I'm on the countdown to a really busy April, May and June.  There's two weekend's away with a string of birthdays in April followed by the Hen & Stag weekends culminating in my son's wedding in June - with a few more birthday scattered about it'll be a hectic few months I'm sure.  My first trip is to Valmorel for a couple of days skiing.  If you follow the blog you'll know I'm a keen skier, and love to go 'play in the snow' at every opportunity - catch my recent visit to Italy (pre-Coronavirus).  As I'm only going for a few days I don't need much, so an overnight case will suffice.  Driving down through France re-creates our previous holidays with the kids years ago, I have fond memories, although at the time I'm sure it was hard work with 5 kids.  My daughter is coming with us, so it will be good to re-live some of the memories with her.  In my case will be a couple of pairs of jeans, ski gear, two nice tops/blouses and a pair of comfy boots - so excited I'm going to pack this weekend - ha ha!

Today's outfit is a very classic style, one that I'd love to wear all the time.  The black wide leg trousers have to be on my top ten 'must haves'.  They are a timeless addition to any wardrobe and I have two pairs that I circulate.  One from Bonmarche - see them styled with this beautiful sunflower blouse,  & these I'm sharing today are from Florence and Fred.  I've had them a while and have to say they are a tad too long, but with a high boot I can still get away with it.

Rome.

Morning my lovely friends.
How's the over fifties doing?  In fact how are you all doing?
You may have seen my IG stories a few days ago and seen I've just come back from Rome. So you might have watched my antics around the beautiful city.
Today I wanted to share the wonderful days I spent there.  Four other couples joined hubby and me for our four day escape & we made some excellent memories visiting many of the landmarks and special places Rome has to offer.  Today I'll share what we did and what we saw - hope you enjoy joining me.
We booked separate flights, accommodation and transfers, which worked out a better deal for us.  Our flights with Easy Jet were as smooth as you like and we arrived after the 2 hour and 5 minute flight full up with breakfast and a cheeky bottle of Prosecco (small one - lol) excited with anticipation of the ensuing days.

Hey! do you spot The Vatican behind me?

Another day - another Dress!

Hi there.
A busy week for MummaB, and after a busy weekend too I'm starting to think about my trip to Rome for some rest and relaxation.  Well I know I wont be resting I'll be sightseeing however I wont be cooking or working so that almost counts as taking it easy - right?
Yesterday I went to my grandson's christening at the local church where daughter and SIL married, followed by a informal gathering at the cricket club for about 80 family and friends.  Such a lovely afternoon with the weather playing fair and the children playing even fairer - lol.   I made my usual profiterols topped with white chocolate rather than dark this time - I must say they went down well and were gone in a flash - fortunately I managed to sneak one before they got seen - yummy indeed.  I also made a rocky road and chicken liver pate - all much appreciated along with the hot dogs, fruit cake and chocolate cake that were among other delectable goodies. X

Looking back to Thursday, I featured a dress I found in the Debenhams/Principes sale - I also found another beauty and just couldn't make up my mind so ended up buying both!  I wore it yesterday at the christening, but had already got some stunning photos taken by Esther to share with you all.

What to wear for a christening service - well I wore something dressy & smart with a summery vibe.

Love dressing in a Dress - #Chicandstylish #LINKUP

Good morning!
How are you?
Can't believe this is my last post of August!  Where has this month gone, it's flown by so quickly.  With the hot weather really getting to me these past few weeks I'm eagerly waiting for the cooler temperatures to arrive - yes I no your telling me to "shut up".  There's no rhyme or reason to my body temperature I'm either boiling hot or freezing cold - I just want to be in-between and normal!

I've got a busy week coming up with a Christening on Sunday, photos with Esther on Monday, appointments in the week, a trip to London which I'm really excited about and also on Wednesday my son will be participating in The Worlds Oldest Rowing Race on the River Thames, you might just remember my eldest son competing back in 2016 - you can read about our day out here.  It's going to be a busy few days with baking and preparing food for both christening and race, but I'll try to visit your blogs as much as I can.
My son will be team light blue, & we're all be wearing something in that colour to show our support - we have a boat and some 100 odd family and friends joining us for the day - fingers crossed we get the result we want - especially after all his hard work & determination.  I've got a couple of ideas what I'm going to wear, but none are dresses.  I might end up donning white jeans and the cute baby blue Zara top I shared with you recently.  Had it been turquoise I could have worn this beautiful and oh-so-chic dress I bought for a recent christening.  I picked up two in the Debenhams/Principles sale, two for the price of one sang in my ears when I took both to the checkout - happy days. **Featuring the second on Monday's post **

Chanel Style Skirt with Textured top & Ted Baker Jacket - #chicandstylish #LINKUP

Morning my fellow over fifty bloggers.
How are you all?

My holiday's starting to become a distant memory and having the internet fixed I'm back to blogging with vigour and determination.  I'm determined to go up a level in the blogging world, which means learning more, finding out more & studying more of your interesting blogs.
Yesterdays weather just wasn't what I had expected at all.  With France suffering a wicked heatwave, I really thought we'd be experiencing warmer weather here!  It was really cold with a wind blowing making it feel like a totally different season.  I decided to wear a skirt when I popped into town, but had to take a jacket with me, just to keep me warm!

It's a Wrap! #chicandstylish #LINKUP

Morning my friends.
Over fifty blogging land all good I hope!
I'm feeling like I'm getting back to normality now, my house is looking less cluttered, the grass is growing back and I'm finding time for blogging, gym classes, shopping and my dancing classes.

With a holiday on the horizon, I'm starting to think of my holiday wardrobe.  I have a draw full of beach wear, & a wardrobe of summer dresses that normally only come out for my hols, with many of them being relegated to the charity pile, I'll be checking through to find out what fits or not and what's going to make the cut.  I might be needing a new jumpsuit so will be shopping for one today.

Today's dress won't be making the cut as the material is way too hot for me to take anywhere warm.  It's more of a Spring/Autumn dress, but I tend to wear something anytime if it feels right!  I've also layered it with jumpers, tee shirts and boots & sandals make an appearance occasionally too.

Michaela Louisa worked for me!

Hello, how's it going in the over fifty fashion world?
I've had a wonderful weekend, attending my niece's wedding.  I love getting dressed up for a special occasion.  Being around the people I love makes it all the more special.

Here's the outfit I chose to wear.  I looked and looked all over the high streets, wanting to stay away from the Wedding-ey 'Mother of the Bride' shops - I feel anything with wedding in the title puts the price up considerably!  So after retuning too many times disillusioned by the high streets and malls I turned to online shopping!  Yes I know I hate shopping this way!  I know it's the way of the future, but I love to see and feel garments, hold them against me, see if the colours suit me and generally have fun looking! Retail therapy IS good for the soul.

Eva Trends - Throw on & Go! #chicandstylish #LINKUP

Hello and welcome to my over fifties blog.
How've you all been?  Has the weather been kind to you?  We've had a mini heatwave here in the UK, but I wouldn't be surprised if we're back to cold weather soon - that seems to be the 'norm' atm!
After the four family birthday's of previous weeks we have a bit of a lull in the MummB household, that's until next week when there's three in a row mine, princesses then eldest son's!  Gets to be an expensive month I can tell you!  Just as well mine is first - lol 😏
Having recently been contacted by Eva trends who have a stunning collection of garments ranging from stylish dresses, unusual tops and outwear including jackets, coats and cardigans.
I wanted to share my latest addition with you.

Leopard Print with Green?

Hello lovelies, how are you all?

How's you week been? I have to say mine has been a mixed bag, back to my keep fit and dancing classes - whoopee, but also catching up on my washing and ironing too - what a bore!
So glad the weather has got warmer, we nearly reached double figures when the photos were taken - woo!,  therefore jacket weather!  Is that a fluke, are we getting another bout of cold weather?  No thank you we don't want more beasts from the east arriving,  I want to break out the spring wardrobe - especially my peep toe booties that I bought towards the end of last season, having seen some lucky ladies in hotter climbs donning there's I want to wear mine now!

Trying out a new combination today, how about green with leopard print?  I was looking on Pinterest and found a few inspiring outfits with said green and leopard.  I wanted to try it out.
I 'found' this skirt in my mum's wardrobe & wore it with her stylish blouse the other day.  It dates back from the 80's, so fits nicely on the waist, which is quite flattering as it holds everything in!

.
I started with the skirt & leopard scarf, then following my friend Anna's advice I threw some pieces on the bed to see what would work, hey presto this is what emerged!
What do you reckon?

Cheery red in a dreary Feb!

Hello there, how are you all?

How come when your come back from a winters holiday things seem very dull and boring?  With no sunshine to brighten the day, way too much washing and ironing to do, with no sign of another skiing holiday to look forward to, & I feel a cold is lurking around the corner!

What's the best thing to do when feeling low - dress up in bright, radiant colours of course.  I really wanted comfort today, yes I really wanted to wear my tracksuit all day and lounge on the sofa.  To be fair I didn't have a hard day, just housework and lunch with my mum 😁.
Back to what I wore, jeans - stretch at that!  Comfy boots, long sleeve pain grey tee shirt and it had to be my bold, vibrant red jacket, that cheered me up no end, that and a chat with my mum!

Feeling brighter with a pink scarf.

Hi there lovelies, all good with me hoping it is with you too.

Only two more sleeps and then this over fifty fashion blogger is jetting off on a skiing holiday.  Have you got any holidays that you are preparing for?  Is nice to be getting away from this awfully dreary weather, everything gets wet, damp and dirty & it's really the time of year that I dislike.

Skiing weather is just so different, I know it's cold but it's not a damp cold - and dressing accordingly makes such a difference.  When I'm in the mountains I wouldn't dream of stepping out how I do at home, donning hat, gloves and full ski suit in the day, whilst of an evening when going out I wear jeans, boots, thick coat and gloves - the hotel, bars and restaurants are always baking hot so once inside I'm roasting! Follow me on IG to catch what I'm doing and wearing. Would love to see you there. X
