Embracing Autumn with Style Not Age.

Hi there,
How’s it going?

Autumn is well and truly arrived us hasn’t it, it’s definitely got me thinking of different outfits. Layering has become the norm and thoughts of cami tops and shorts have long gone from my mind! Replacing them with boots, thin jumpers, jackets and rain coats have been what I’ve been wearing lately.
I’ve had a super weekend. Saturday was spent looking after my granddaughter. She hadn’t wanted to watch her brother play football, especially as it has been stormy over here, so instead she came to me and we watched a film. I picked one I used to watch with her mum, The Rescuers. It’s an old one and clearly showed its age because there wasn’t much in the way of graphics. That didn’t matter because she loved it.
That afternoon I helped David in our new build. He’d been adding insulation to the walls, so I joined in. We’re  focusing on downstairs now as upstairs only has a few jobs to finish and then it can be plastered! I must get that bathroom and kitchen sorted as I feel I’ll be needing it soon!
Saturday evening was very special. David and I were due to go out for dinner with friends, unfortunately a couple of them were unwell so had to cancel, but we still went. Dinner for two in Wheelers. We had the tasting menu which was divine. I’ll add some photos on another post soon.
Sunday was family day. We had a roast lamb lunch with my eldest daughter and her family. My mum came too so it was a busy time. The meal was yummy, everything cooked perfectly & I even made dessert, a chocolate sponge pudding with chocolate custard. My favourite school dinner! What’s yours?

So now I’ve made you feel a bit peckish, I’m changing the subject and introducing October’s theme for the Style not Age group. Read on to hear about our Autumn favourites.

I’m still all over chocolate, the colour as well as the snack! This faux leather skirt is an A line and I found it on Vinted. It’s from M&S and has been a fantastic purchase.
The outfit started from the ground upwards. You might have known I’ve hurt my foot. I twisted it on cobblestones in Canterbury on a night out and it’s been painful for over three weeks. I’ve now had it checked and it’s only soft tissue damage so is on the mend now. Anyway it’s been hard to find the right shoes and most of the time I’m in trainers. These fitted boots were the perfect style without having too high a heel so wore them to a Press Day for Bonmarche in London last week, hence I needed a skirt that would look okay with them.

The jacket was one I really wanted to include. So knowing how well brown and pale blue work together I pulled my stretchy sleeveless top on with it all and hey presto the outfit was created!

Only a brown bag would do for this look. My Elie Beaumont crescent bag has been a firm friend. She’s a classic beauty that’s right at the top of the fashion scene. Do grab a suede bag in a shade like this as they’ve very popular right now. You can take full advantage of my discount code JQ10 at Elie Beaumont and they have a stunning new collection of brown beauties.

Shall we switch over to see how my friends tackled the challenge.

As Hilda picked this month’s theme, shall we have a peak at what she wore. White jeans and autumnal coloured jumper, a winning combination I think. Find out all the deets on her post Over the Hilda.

Emma is having a little time off but you can read all about her latest outfits here on her blog Style Splash.

Last but by no means least is Anna - Anna’s Island Style.
Embracing white in this changeable season can be tricky but Anna’s smashed this one. 👏

Finally I’d just like to say enjoy the last week of October, I’ll catch up with you next month!
Bye for now. X
