Slinky Black Midi Dress. #Chicandstylish #LINKUP

Hi there, how are you all?
Been a nice couple of days doing not a lot after a busy weekend.  Although there's another busy weekend on the horizon for me, so I'm making the most of the quiet, less chaotic time and just relaxing with the dog!
Friday I'm in London with some girl friends for an afternoon tea to celebrate a birthday.  I'm really looking forward to spending some time in the capital & hopefully having a bit of retail therapy too!  Sunday I'm away for a couple of days with my mum and sister, with mum's birthday whilst we are away so that will be really nice for us to be together.  We're going to stay in Rye - a place I've only driven through so It will be nice to see what the place holds for us - lots of lovely restaurants I hope, maybe the odd pub or two as well! 😉

Today's outfit is a more detailed look into the dress I wore for Esther's 'wig' party.  Have a look and let me know what you think about this slinky little number and what other ways it could be styled -I've got a few ideas rolling around my head already!

You really can't go wrong with a black dress for any occasion be it dressy or casual - it's what you wear with it that makes it appropriate.  Today's black choice has been styled for a lunch date with friends or drinks at a party.  By adding heels and beads it's made a classic dress very elegant.

This came from F & F, and is unfortunately now sold out!  I picked the bigger size just so it didn't cling - I didn't want something to be too tight & therefore show any bulges. I, as always, pulled on a half slip, but having also got full slips to my name they would have worked a treat too - and an extra layer for keeping warm!  It amazes me how many people don't wear slips!  I wonder if they look in a mirror at their rears before they leave!  Are you a slip wearer, or do you class that as 'old fashioned' lol!
These are the full slips & half slips  I like to wear - available in different lengths which is brilliant!

Pairing this midi dress with my delightful Hobbs jacket was an easy choice - it's made this outfit very stylish indeed and adding beads and heels they just about seal the deal.

I've opted for a mix up of beads and pearls, which pair beautifully with my black and nude bag - it's all adding interest to the outfit - making it fun to wear.

Shorts sleeves are a great choice, and the jacket is the extra layer needed for warmth as well as making the outfit not only neat but sing chic too!

Just about time for the #chicandstylish #LINKUP

  1. That's a pretty jacket. The outfit looks very "Chanel"

    1. Yep, that was the style I had on my Christmas list and hubby came up trumps! Thanks for stopping by Julie. xx

  2. Love the long pearls! I keep forgetting I have those mules too. I have no idea where they are packed away mind! xx

  3. I love that jacket - it really takes the dress up a notch. Also love what you did with your necklaces - mixing beads and pearls!

  4. Jacqui, this dress is so pretty! Every girl needs a collection of little black dresses, in my opinion. I actually don’t have many so I am always up for a new way to style the classic LBD. I love the tweed jacket with it and those shoes are spectacular! I have slips but I only wear them if my dress is transparent. Generally, if I am wearing tights though, I don’t add a slip because the tights cover my underwear!

  5. You're right - what you style with your black dress changes the feel! When you said you styled yours with the jacket to go to lunch I thought - totally. I can see that 100%. It's so fun to see how others style their clothes. Guess that's why I'm still in the blogging game. :)

  6. No!!!! Rye??? We always stay there! Oh I know a very good pub there. Next time we definitely should meet! Have a fab time in my lovely Rye and oh yes, you look fantastic of course. As you always do!

  7. Love how you styled your LBD. Slips are a good idea, quite often get a lot of static from skirts/dresses and tights!

  8. Beautiful and classic look, Jacqui!!!

  9. This outfit is my favorite of all your looks so far. So posh! You look amazing!

  10. Great look Jacqui! I love the black dress and the length as it looks like a great layering piece. I always love a pretty jacket and I am eyeing those nude shoes..
    enjoy your day!

  11. Love this dress- what a great closet staple! And I also dig a good tweed jacket- yours is such a classic!

  13. Your jacket is so pretty and so chic layered over that dress! Love your necklaces!

  14. I just love this dress with AND without the jacket! Your jewelry is on point, too!

  15. It's been an exhausting busy week but all good! My youngest's birthday party is this weekend so it will be nice to enjoy some time with friends and family. I love the versatility of a black dress and should wear mine more often.

  16. You are rocking that fabulous dress! It was made for you!

  17. I love this Chanel inspired look. You look gorgeous.

  18. Such a classic look, you know I love Chanel inspired tweed and boucle jackets and I love the one you are wearing. Super chic!

  19. Looking great, Jacqui. I like how you styled this more dressy, but could see this with a chunky cardigan and a pair of boots for a more casual look. - Amy

  20. Jacqui, you are so right that a black dress is such a basic. I love the professional look with the jacket and jewelry. You could also add a bright cardi or scarf as a contrast--you look lovely in vivid blues!!

    xx Darlene

  22. I like your LBD Jacdui, it looks simple but very elegant outfit, like the jacket and the long string of pearl. So chic

  23. This is such a sophisticated look, well styled. A simple LBD is a good starting point and the Chanelesque jacket and necklaceage sophistos it up a treat, so we'll done YOU!!

  24. Jacqui,

I love your classic style for the lunch and party you went to.
I love the fabulous tweed jacket you wore with your black midi and your strands of pearls!
This outfit will be perfect for the holidays too!

  25. Hi Jacqui, I love how you styled your black dress! The Jacket and Clutch are matching perfectly. I also like the fantastic pics, especially the one with the wind-blown hair! You look gorgious.

  26. We all need some pretty little black dress and than play with it. I love how you styled yours. Very classic and chic.

  27. Beautiful photos Jacqui. Love your outfit. Thanks so much for all the support over the last few weeks. I have been so stressed with one thing or another and finding out my Mum had breast cancer was such a stressful and worrying time. She has had the cancer removed now and is healing well. Thanks so much for stopping by the blog, I am so behind ( nothing new there then!!) Hope your enjoying Autumn and I can not wait to start posting outfit posts again and joining you here again :) xx

  28. Love the dress! I always think it's fun to pair something fitted with something flowy - so maybe a kimono duster in a fun pattern over top? Love the way you styled it already!
