Tu Clothing Trousers - Chic & Stylish Linkup

Good morning everyone.
How’s your world going?

It’s been another fab week especially after a really good weekend. You remember I told you about the darts competition on Saturday night, well what I didn’t tell you was that my daughter announced she’d got engaged! I’m thrilled for her and can’t wait to get planning another wedding, although I’m not sure when that will be as they’ve got to buy somewhere to live as well! She’s got a beautiful ruby and diamond halo ring that’s stunning and her fiancée picked a beauty!

On Sunday, David and I were invited to a venue in London for a dinner show. All I can say right now is that it was a brilliant night, with exceptional food and some delicious champagne - which is now my favourite drink! You’ll be the first to know when the post goes live as I can’t wait to share it with you! I wore my vivid pink midi dress from JD Williams and felt really confident in it.

Let me share a birthday present with you today. My sister bought me these trousers and I loved pairing them with this old fine knit top from Phase Eight.

Style not Age Wear Their Greens!

Good morning my friends.
Hope you’re well.

It’s the last Monday of March so it’s time to see what the ladies from Style not Age have been choosing for our latest monthly challenge.

I set this month’s challenge and having noticed green will be popular for the new season I opted for the prompt …
Wear Your Greens.

I had a wonderful weekend  & it was quite busy, so went very quickly.  Saturday was spent doing a few chores and then looked after three of my grandkids whilst their mum and dad watched a local football match where my eldest granddaughter, Amelia was a mascot, she had an amazing time and fortunately Whitstable won!  It was a quick change when I got home as we were out to dinner at our good friends house.  It was for a 60th celebration and we all had a lovely time dining on Steak with salad followed by a delicious cheese board.  As you would imagine I had a few glasses of champagne followed by one of my favourite wines which is a rose wine from Spain.  It's a dreamy pale rose wine that's got a slight fizz to it.  I've enjoyed many a bottle when holidaying in L'Escala over the years, and I've now found a site that sells it in the UK!

On Sunday after a long lie-in I finally got myself ready to enjoy time with the kids.  My son came round as he couldn't join us for a takeaway in the evening.  He bought me a sweet card which had lovely words on it.  I'm a sucker for receiving cards and love the personal words my kids always put in them.  Four more from the others followed - all with equally as touching words inside.  They got me a joint present and I was elated to receive a fab little clutch bag to replace the jaded version I've been using recently.  It's from Fiorelli and the leather pouch bag is just what I've been wanting.  I also got a bottle of Prosecco, a lovely candle that smells amazing, a gorgeous bouquet of flowers, a treat box from Little Berry Bakes along with a tasty Chinese takeaway, which we all tucked into.  My mum came as well and enjoyed being with the family as much as I did!  Once I’d dropped her home I relaxed on the sofa and had a very cheeky chocolate cookie that was from the selection of goodies in the cake box. What a lucky lady I am. 🤍

Do You Know Your Style - Chic & Stylish Linkup.

Morning my friends.
How's your week going?

Not such a busy one for me fortunately, we had a couple of birthdays over the past few days and it's been lovely to enjoy treating two of my granddaughters with 'girly' presents.  Kimberley enjoyed a dance mat and a Moana dressing up outfit - she looked perfect for the occasion as did Autumn.  She was dressed very girly in a tulle dress and I can't wait to take her for her present to get her nails painted and also have a mini facial.  I'm so excited for her to experience this as I know she's going to love it!

Gym classes have been a little out of sync over the past couple of weeks. You see I’ve had my eyebrows done with semi-permanent makeup which I wasn’t allowed to get wet. I refrained from swimming and my classes where I tend to get sweaty, just incase I ruined them. So with that and the couple of classes that were cancelled it’s been a bit hit and miss. I’m looking forward to getting back to normal as I’ve missed the exercise! Dancing has been the same though and I’ve enjoyed both ballet and ballroom last week. I’m thrilled with my new brows and will be showing them off once they’ve completely healed. I promise you they look great!

Do you have a fashion style?  It's a question I often hear asked so today I thought I'd share my own fashion style with you today.

Grey Trousers with Pale Blue and Burgundy Bag.

Morning everyone and welcome to Mummabstylish.
Apologies for another delayed post, I promise things will get back to normal in due course.

So pleased you’ve found my blog and thanks to you all for joining me today.

To any new followers I thought as it’s a new year I’d take the opportunity to tell you a little bit about myself and why I started this blog.
When my youngest left school and went to work I suddenly felt out of place, having not worked (well paid work) since having my eldest daughter I feared I wouldn’t find something that suited me, fitted into my lifestyle and that I could do! I wanted something that would fit around my busy life helping my hubby and looking after my children (not that they needed me much) & subsequent grandchildren. I also reached an age where I felt my fashion and style should change. I looked to other outlets namely blogs to find out what I ‘should’ be wearing and do you know what I found & realised? Well I found that I could decide what I should wear and not be dictated to by anyone else. My one rule is that I wear clothes that I feel flatter my figure and don’t wear anything that I feel looks wrong. I dip into fashions here and there but generally I’m a classic girl and prefer to wear things like wide leg trousers, midi skirt lengths and elegant styles. With that being said I do grab a trendy item if I think it looks okay on me.
So before I knew it and with a bit of help along the way ( ok a lot) my blog was born and has thrived. I look to it as almost a diary and like to look back on posts to find out what I was doing, wearing and thinking … to be honest it’s rather therapeutic too, although I tend not to go into too much detail of more personal matters, you just never know what could happen the future do you!

I’m intrigued to find out what 2025 will bring and am excited to move forward with the blog and my other social platforms. I hope you’ll stick around and continue to follow and support me and will be publishing the brand new Chicandstylish Linkup on Thursday so I hope you’ll pop by for it. 👏

I’ve been so fortunate over the past few months having received some amazing gifts, therefore needing more clothes has been almost negligible. However needing and wanting are two completely different things aren’t they!
I had to return a couple of bits last week, so like you do came home with these lovely trousers from Matalan.

Introducing the Layer Band.

Hello and welcome back to Mummabstyish.
How’s the week been?

Still chilly here so layers, layers and more layers are key for me to keep warm. Do you have a secret to keeping toasty my friends, always interested to hear new ideas to keep the cold out!
Not much to report from the weekend, although I did cook the whole roast dinner yesterday as David was working on my daughter’s house. I’m usually sous chef, but the roast chicken dinner was prepared and cooked by me! I have to say it was rather nice and went down extremely well, even the Yorkshire puddings were, dare I say, perfect.  👌  How did your weekend go? Hope you had a wonderful time, let me know what you did and were you chef? 🧑‍🍳

Today I thought it’d be apt to share something new-to-me with you! Still with me? Good!
I was recently asked to review an item from Layer Clothing. It’s an online website that sells these really interesting layer bands. Want to know? Do read on.

Tan Neutrals and a Swirly Tonal Top - #Chicandstylish #LINKUP

Hi there my friends.
Hope you are having a lovely week.
You doing anything nice?

A night out with old work colleagues last night.  I must admit to not wanting to venture out last night as the rain has arrived here and it been really cold, anyone else want to hibernate when it gets like that? We went to a local restaurant that I’ve only been to for lunch.  I wasn’t overly impressed on the first visit, but last night was a different story, maybe it’s because I went for dinner rather than lunch. We shared some smaller dishes … namely olives, prawns, buratta and hot bread. My second course was fish, I enjoyed the sea bream with prawns cannellini beans in a lobster bisque sauce. It was amazing, such tasty food that was devoured as if we’d never eaten before lol. - I’m pleased I went out in the end & had a really nice evening despite the rain! The venue was called Land And Sea so if you’re ever in the area, do give them a look!

I was going to wear this ensemble, but changed my mind last minute.  With the awful weather coming into play I needed something warmer and darker, didn’t want any splashes or dirty marks on these trousers. I thought you’d like to see it anyway

Capsule Wardrobe Featuring Khaki.

Morning my friends.
How are you all doing?

Today's blog post is one I started to write last month and never got round to publishing it!

I’d been posting an Instagram reel and came across an absolute banging tune, one that means an awful lot to me. I like quite a mixed bag really, my music genres are all over the place & you’d find a real mix of tracks on my favourites list - ranging from classic songs, to musical tunes, with everything from the 50’s to now mixed in. I could never really pin down what’s at the top of my list but Club Tropicana would be up there as would many of the soul tunes from the 80’s and I’m partial to Cornfield Chase too. But let’s get back to the songs that stole my heart in 1982, the year I passed my driving test!

I remember having my sister’s little mini for a few months (until someone turned in front of me and wrote the car off).  The excitement of having four wheels at my convenience and being able to drive where I wanted to and when was amazing.   I lived right out in the sticks where there were only two buses a day! One in the morning and one about lunch time, the return buses were lunch time and early evening - so there was no thought of getting a bus out and home for a night out. I had to rely on my mum or dad, although very good, weren’t very appreciative of being a taxi in the middle or the night let alone the early hours of the morning! So as you can imagine as soon as I was old enough I learnt to drive. I passed the test first time and used whatever car I could until I bought my own (my sisters old car and had to pay back each month)!
The freedom of driving along on my own listening to a tape player playing the only cassette I had - Earth Wind and Fire was thrilling.  My favourite tracks were played on repeat every time I went out. September, Boogie Wonderland, Let’s Groove, Shining Star and Fantasy to name but a few, all mean the world to me.  I can remember the feeling of the world being my oyster, filled with the wonder of what lie ahead of me, feeling I could do anything and go anywhere. I how I loved that feeling. Do you recall that too?  I could never have imagined my life now, a wonderful husband, five amazing children who now have some clever and supportive partners and my awesome grand-kids, 7 🤍 of them so far!  I’ve been to some amazing places and done some extraordinary things so far and I reckon there’s a few more lots more adventures to come.

Well for me a court shoes never really went out of style, how about you?  Is it a look you like to wear?

Today I’m going to share this snippet from my capsule wardrobe.  Khaki colours are perfect for Autumn and I can't wait to delve into putting together some imaginative outfits this season.

Style Not Age - Kimono my House.

Hello and good to have you join me today.
What have you been up to?

It was my daughters birthday on Friday, so instead of my usual dancing we had all the kids over for a takeaway and a couple of drinks.  As you can imagine with 7 kids running around, it was quite hectic and VERY loud and busy.
On Saturday after mowing both lawns David and I had a date at a local restaurant.  We'd got vouchers from the kids for Christmas and this was our opportunity to use them.  The Firepit at The Cave in Boughton was every bit as good as they'd told us it would be.  We decided to have the taster menu and added a further dish which, fortunately we managed to devour.  Let me tease you with our choices -
Voodoo Prawns, Sugar Snap Peas, Panko Black Sesame Monkfish, Marinated Beef Strips, Smoked St Louis Cha Sui Pork Ribs, Tempura Fried Sweet Potato, Charred Tenderstem Broccoli followed by Chocolate Mountain (amazing) and Strawberry Lime Pavlova all washed down with a bottle of champagne and an interesting cocktail called a K Pop Martini - you must check out my Instagram post featuring this alluring drink.

It's the last Monday of the month which means only one thing ... the ladies from Style Not Age are sharing their ideas on a topic challenge set my Gail.  She's suggested we all style our kimono's for the title ...

White and Green, what I wanted to wear!

Morning all.
Well what a weekend that was.

Saturday was the family party, we were worried about the rain making an appearance, and yes you guessed it poured all afternoon!  Mum had booked a bouncy castle for the little ones, and they did manage to play on it ... in the rain and they were all soaked!  We all crowed in my mum's house - fortunately she has two big reception rooms which we made good use of, my only worry was the cream carpet that was in one of them!  We'd all taken a dish or two each and we had so much food there was something for everyone.
I'd made a coronation chicken with wild rice and a lemon tart.  Both, I'm pleased to say went down really well.  There was also: chicken drumsticks, tortilla, salad, potato salad, coleslaw, pizza's, cold meats, a fish dish, crisps & dips and lots of other delicious plates of food.  Mum supplied the drinks of which there was copious amounts (I didn't have too many - do I get brownie points?)  She'd also got some big outdoor games that some of the children played inside, but to be honest they just like playing together and made good use of the rooms getting quite rowdy at times (I blame the sweets they had).  There was also ice cream in cones and lots of sprinkles to squander - fortunately none left any marks on the carpet, so all in all it was a winning afternoon.

Today I thought I'd share what I wanted to wear to the party, but figured with the weather not being great and the fact kids would be having ice cream - Neopolitan - probs wouldn't be a good choice eh!

Styling a Vest Top with Wide Leg Trousers - #Chicandstylish #LINKUP

Hello and welcome my friends.
What have you been up to since we last connected?

Not much going on for Mummab at the moment, back to normal with the kids and I've enjoyed seeing them since they came back.  The weather is still pants and quite cold at times and as you can see my today's outfit I've resorted to warmer clothes!

I wore this yesterday.  You see I've wanted to try this style for a while as I've noticed the trend of wearing a waist coat over trousers.  Having not got a waistcoat (yet) I thought this vest top would be a brilliant replacement, so today that's what I'm sharing.

I must tell you about my afternoon first, having been to the gym and then out helping hubby collecting something (I got lunch out of it too), I came home to shower and get ready for some photos, a reel and to enjoy the evening.  I've recently had my eyelash line top up so haven't been able to wear mascara, and yesterday I put all my makeup on with excitement, I would see the full finish of the procedure, which I might add looked amazing.  So I was all set to start my reel when I bent down and managed to get a great long hair in my eye.  It was right across it and no matter how I tried I couldn't get rid of it.  My eyes were streaming and it literally hurt like hell - who'd think a small hair could hurt so much more that an eyelash.  Well eventually I managed to ease it out with a piece of tissue, but the makeup was all smeared down my cheeks and the mascara had blackened my eye from rubbing and watering, I looked a right state and had to reapply everything!  Anyway I sorted myself out and got these super shots ... eventually lol!

Latte Colours for my New Gilet - #Chicandstylish #LINKUP

Hi there everyone.
Wow March, doesn't that mean Spring should arrive soon?

Life remains as hectic as ever for Mummabstylish.  Gym classes, dance classes, watching the grand-kids and general life leaves me with little time to get blogging and find out what you've all been doing.  I'd love you to share your life style on my link up below and look forward to seeing what you got up to over the past week too.

So I've still not managed to get into town to see the new styles, but I have purchased a couple of pieces online.  Two dresses and a pretty blouse have made an appearance in my wardrobe, but the jury is still out as to whether I keep them or not!  I've a wedding in June so one of them was a possibility, however it's a long sleeved maxi that has loads of fabric on a really wide skirt, it's also a heavy satin and so all things considered I fear it will be way too hot for me to wear.  I'm going to share it on the blog soon, so you can let me know your thoughts.

Let's get back to today's look, I've been wearing jeans mostly throughout the Winter, but with slightly better weather, although still cold, I donned this look earlier in the week for a trip into my local town to run a couple of errands.  The gilet is new and was kindly gifted to me from Tilletts Clothing as were the jeans with pearl embellishments on that I featured on the blog last week.

Fifty Eight - Dressing like I'm Twenty Eight!

Good morning my friends.
Hope you've had a super weekend.

Mine was super and went way too quickly.
I went back to ballroom dancing on Friday, it was the first session after a few weeks off over the festive period.  It was good fun and so nice to get back to enjoying dancing again.  We started the year off with a Foxtrot.  I have to say it all came back to me and I've even taken to using the top half of my body to bend and sway in the right direction - I'm going to need more practice for this, but will try looking at Youtube videos to gain more information.

Saturday was very quiet, I stayed in all day and didn't really do anything.  In the evening I went to have dinner at my eldest daughter's house.  It was fun to be around the children and as they only live down the road we could walk home (managed to dodge the rain fortunately).
Yesterday after a bit of a lay-in I shopped for dinner ingredients and came home to help prepare Beef Wellington with roast potatoes and some vegetables.  This sort of dinner makes a brilliant alternative to a traditional roast lamb, beef or chicken.  Much to the kids delight I did a chocolate fondu with marshmallows and fruit.  They love having this and always ask for it, but it's quite a messy affair with chocolate going everywhere!  It was loud and busy as usual but when they left I settled down to watch Ski Sunday and Country File ... I know how to rock don't I!

Did I mention I've booked skiing?  We're visiting Les Arcs in the Alpes in a couple of weeks and I'm starting to get very excited ... hence watching Ski Sunday.  They've been talking about the lack of snow due to warm weather coming up from Africa.  Apparently things will change within the next week or so & I'm praying we'll have plenty of the white stuff come February. 🤞

Today I wanted to share an outfit that popped into my mind the other week whilst taking some other photos.
It's basically a look I would love to wear if i was younger, thinner and more confident!
It's a fun and sexy look and I thought I'd see what you thought about it.  Can a 58 year old wear an outfit a 28 might wear?  Do let me know in the comments below. X

What to wear with a Jacquard blazer - #Chicandstylish #LINKUP

Hi there my friends.
Hope you are well.
Big apologies for being a whole day late, I have no excuses!

I'm still feeling tired, probably just the fact I'm doing something everyday trying to get everything ready for next week!

How are you all?  Have you been affected by the weather?  It's so cold here in the UK with freezing temperatures and some snow, as you can imagine here in the UK everything comes to a standstill . Main roads were closed and people were stranded, my son stayed in a hotel instead of coming home, he didn't want to spend the night in the car and I don't blame him! But we're just not used to it are we!  I need to be skiing when it snows, not trying to get to the shops and running errands .. lol!

I did a stupid thing when I went shopping though, I cleared the snow off of all the car windows except the rear glass so when I went on my way. I wanted to put bits in the boot so I opened it and all the snow, which was melting, slipped into it! I was furious and had to scrape it out with my hands which were freezing.  I came home and took the carpet out to bring in doors and dry off in front of the radiator.  No problem it dried by the next day so I replaced it on my next journey out.  I placed everything back in which included a plastic bottle of screen wash - next time I opened it I found the bottle had tipped over and it had a hole in it meaning half the contents were in my boot!  It's now drying, again, by the radiator!  Fuming wasn't the word. Grrrr!!

Last week I went to Bluewater which is about 3/4 of an hour away, I had an appointment for a fitting and will be sharing my afternoon with you soon. I did a bit of shopping and got a couple of gifts, it's a good way to spread the tiring job of present buying - little and often it my motto!

Anyway I wanted to keep warm but still look chic and elegant when I went so wore this classic outfit.  What do you think, did I succeed?

Classic but still Fashionable - #Chicandstylish #LINKUP

Morning my friends.
How's your week going?

I've not been up to much this week, just the usual gym classes and spending time with the family.
Having said that I've been too busy to actually go into town and go shopping! In previous years I would shop in town every two weeks or so, but over the past few years it's dwindled.  My reason is mainly because the high street shops just aren't what they used to be. I do still try and pop into town every once in a while, but often end up disheartened!  Let's hope my next trip will be a different story as I need to have a look for some new pieces in the fashionable shade of khaki.  I really fancy this colour and reckon it will suit me too.  Remember my navy and olive faux wrap dress?
Fingers crossed I find loads of bits that will fill in any gaps I have in my wardrobe!

But let me tell you about this colour combo I love to wear.
Caramel, black and leopard print.
I've fallen for is this leo print shirt from Salamander Shirts, and whoever said a classic shirt can't be modern certainly didn't study their site.  Just look at this funky shirt I've teamed with wide leg trousers and an elegant blazer.

My Confident Outfit - #Chicandstylish #LINKUP

Hello and thanks for stopping by my blog today.
Appreciate you joining me.

You find me a very impatient MummaB today, you see my eldest daughter's baby was due yesterday and as of yet nothing has happened!  You can imagine she's just about had enough now - especially as her other babies were early!  She's tried the hot curry and raspberry leaf tea, so next I think she should try jumping up and down ... lol!

Talking about up and down - I've been actually enjoying my keep fit classes recently, seems I've turned a corner and don't ache as much afterwards - my stamina has also improved and I think my skiing break has helped that, I was on the go every day whilst away.  I've also been following a calorie counting diet - you literally count everything you eat and stick to a certain amount each day - it's surprising how easy I can get carried away with the odd biscuit and snack throughout the day.  I did follow the keto diet (you may recall I lost 2 stone on that) but just couldn't get back into it.  So I'm on day 4 and I’m pleased to say so far so good, it's more about when you can eat rather than what you can't, and that makes a huge difference to the mindset of losing weight.  Do tell me if you have any secrets to losing weight!

So without any more deviations, let me run you through my look of the day.

Coffee & Cream - #Chicandstylish #LINKUP

Morning my friends.
Wow, how late am I, sorry for the delay - just been such a busy bee!
Hope you're all enjoying the last few days of August.
I've had a some nice outings over the past few days, you may have seen my IG post's sharing a belated Christmas Present at The Fordwich Arms and also my day out in London with my daughter

I have a family party on Saturday at my Mum's all the family plus my sisters family and my uncle will be there.  We're all taking a plate of food which will make it much easier on my mum, so she won't be left having to prepare food for 30!!  I've opted to make a salmon pate & coronation chicken.  I can't wait to get together with my extended family as it's been way too long - will hopefully take some photos to share with you all.

I've been to two classes today, then had my hair trimmed too!  I'm looking bright & fresh with my newly coloured and cut locks X

Animal Print top from Bonmarche with Wide Leg Trousers.

Morning my friends.
Hope you're doing well.
I'm in the thick of birthday's this and next month, with 10 to celebrate! Two under my belt already - it's an expensive month I can tell you!
It will be nice to try and have a bit more of a celebration than last year when it was literally my family indoors who could enjoy the day.  I'm praying for better weather so we can make full use of my new-last-year rattan furniture.
I'm venturing out to do some more retail therapy again this week, I so enjoyed having a look at what's on offer and hope there's more to see.  I'll be sharing my two jumpers with you soon, actually one next week for the Style not Age challenge - do stop by to see our latest task.
I'm also off to the hair salon on Thursday, I can't wait!!! Have you had a trim yet?

Grey and Green Together - Yes It Works.

Morning my friends.
How are you all?
What a super weekend I've had, well it started on Friday.
My son finally got to marry his sweetheart in an intimate gathering of 15.  Fifteen not by choice, but  due to Covid, we made the best of the day and literally had an amazing time.  I will be posting all about it soon, so do stop back to see it.
As you can imagine Saturday and Sunday have been very slow.  I had breakfast at the venue on Saturday morning and came home to relax and replay the previous day in my head.  It was truly a magical occasion with everything perfect, or as perfect as it could have been considering the circumstances.
So before I run away with my dreaming let me tell you about my latest look for my grey trousers.  A favourite for this time of the year.  I'm after a pair in seasonal tan as I've so much to go with them - I have just found and bagged these from New Look - so will see what they are like.

Joining the stripe brigade.

Hi there, thanks for joining me on the blog today.  Mummabstylish features my style, this is what this over fifty fashion blogger likes to wear.

Being such a huge fan of culottes & crops, I simple couldn't resist these beauts I picked up in H & M a couple of weeks ago.  Having already got three pairs in my wardrobe along with numerous culotte jumpsuits, I knew I wanted to be wearing them come the colder weather.  So with the weather becoming decidedly cooler over the past week I felt the time had come to share them.
