What to wear to a Christening. - #Chicandstylish #LINKUP

Morning my friends.
How has your week been?

Thanks for stopping by today - great to have you here.
It's been a weird week.  After a very emotional day on Monday, things have to get back to normal don't they!

On Tuesday my son went off on holiday and left me with his dog - Halle.  He was going to get someone else to look after her, but both David and I said we'd like to have her.  It's been nice to have a pet again after the loss of my little dog Roxy back in 2021 and my darling Candy in 2016.  She's very much a puppy and wants to play all the time.  I've been on duty most of the time to take her outside to make sure there's no little puddles for me!  I have to say she's been a delight so far, and it's going to be hard to give her back.  Pets are a tie though aren't they, so having got my 'fix' from her, my desire (at the back of my mind) to have another dog has been well and truly fulfilled!

Today I thought I'd share my Christening outfit with you.  I admit to having many dresses that I could have worn for the occasion, but decided I'd have a look in town when I was picking up some dry cleaning.

With not much on offer in the shops it took me a while to find this pretty wrap dress.  I tried a few on in the various shops we have locally, and eventually stumbled upon this one.  The colours and design caught my eye, an appealing olive green and navy, both of which are going to be in the limelight come the next few weeks.  I'm excited to see what I can find in these shades for Autumn, are they colours you'd wear?

It's from a company called AX and can be found in New Look among other places.
It came up small so I got a bigger size than I've usually been buying and it fits okay.
I love a midi style, I just find them so elegant and flattering.  The puffy sleeves are pretty too, just enough to give a nice coverage on my aging arms! Lol.

It's actually a faux wrap style which has a zip up the back and a side tie that's just for effect.

A wrap dress really does define the waist, it cinches it in to create an lovely hour glass silhouette and can be quite flattering on most body shapes.  I like the fact it's fixed, there's no dress malfunctions here, and looks great all the time.  A wrap dress can be dressed up for a special occasion or worn more casually with trainers, it's a style I feel really comfortable in.

It's in the ever popular patchwork scarf pattern and it's one I like to wear, you can see an earlier favourite from Next a few years ago, that always looks sleek and stylish when I don it.

Finishing touches were my wedding shoes from my daughter's special day that are from Carvela and are very comfortable.  It's the cross-over strap on the front that make them so wearable.
I used my new present from Taromina, this cute leather bag is from Coccinelle and one I've been admiring from for a while. 🤎  It has a helpful wrist strap in matching cream leather, and is just big enough for the essentials on an outing like the christening.

Hope you like the look, please do leave a comment to let me know what you think. I love to hear from you. xx

  7. Yes, it's good to get back to some kind of normality! It must be lovely to have a puppy in the house, but hard work though! That's a pretty dress but I hope it's not the colour of the season as navy is not the best colour for me! Thanks for hosting! Penny https://frugalfashionshopper.co.uk

  9. I understand your feeling of longing for a pup. But, as you stated, they do tie us down, especially if we want to travel a lot. Different times in our lives are open to pets. And when those times arrive, they are a great comfort, companions, and bring us great joy.'

  11. Oh, I would definitely wear that dress! The colors and the print are spectacular, and you look fabulous in it! It's sad to see how empty the shops are, isn't it? My husband succumbed to getting a puppy a few years ago after our last Westie passed in 2016. I love my Jack, but you are right. Pets are definitely a tie down. I am pretty sure Jack will be the last for us. Thanks for the link party!

  15. That dress looks gorgeous on you, Jacqui! I hadn't thought to wear navy with olive but it works really well! I shall have to give it a try. Ad for wrap dresses, I always think they look fabulous on other women but I seem to struggle with them because I always feel like I'm not busty enough!
    Big hugs
