Long Weekend in L’Escala - Chic & Stylish Linkup

Morning my friends.
How are you?

First I need to apologise for no post on Monday. You see I got back from Spain late on Monday and quite honestly didn’t have the energy to do a post!

The weekend went by in a flash. We traveled out to Gerona Spain mid day and arrived in the town of L’Escala late afternoon which was perfect. The hotel is one we always passed when we stayed there years ago. It’s mid way between the old town of L’Escala and Riells beach and an ideal position to get everywhere. We’ve got so many memories of this pretty fishing village that’s sprawled out to almost being unrecognisable in some places! We always rented a villa and self catered, well that’s how it started but soon the children got a taste for adult food we ate out. It became quite expensive at times as their liking for filet steak grew each year. The weather is really changeable and we often encountered rain, and boy does it rain there. We had a storm on Saturday night too. The government sent emergency messages with what to do should it get that bad!! Yeah that was scary! 😱

I bought a couple of new bits for the trip and also took some outfits I’ve already worn. I thought you’d like to see the two new ones today.

I found this orange dress on Vinted! It’s originally from Marks & Spencer and I bagged this bargain for a snip. That’s the beauty of buying from Vinted, you can find some amazing brand new items for a really reasonable price.

You can see it’s a lace midi dress that’s perfect for summer fun. It’s the thin straps that did it for me, even though I hate my arms since losing weight but when it’s really warm I can’t wear sleeves. So I turn a blind eye to my saggy arms! I’m sure nobody is looking at me anyway! 😂

I took one pair of heels with me plus these sliders too. This style is so nice for holidays because they fit into a small case, look really pretty (love the faux jewels on the front) and are comfortable and easy to wear. Mine are previous season from Lotus Shoes - but these, in black or green, are on the website & are now reduced. 🙏

I love a sundress when I’m abroad, they’re so elegant and chic and can be dressed up or down with sandals and jewellery. This handkerchief style is from SHEIN and was well worth the money. It’s a fantastic fabric that drapes well and hardly creases. I packed this and when it came out I didn’t have to iron it! The pattern is very wearable for this season but if I’m honest this style never goes out of fashion really. You won’t believe the cost, I only paid £10 for this one, amazing prices. I’d wanted to get a hat out there, but before I got a chance to look my son recital was too small for him and gave it to me! Looks great on don’t you think?

My final newbie was a two piece swimsuit with matching sarong. Another item I got from SHEIN and again I’m very pleased with the quality. They look far more expensive than the £13 I paid! Yes for both pieces. It’s a super fit swimsuit that’s a bandeau style with two straps, it’s fully lined and feels stylish on, espy with the matching sarong skirt. Definitely worth a look and I’ve linked both items for you.

Both these shots were taken in the little village of St Marti which is about a 1/2 walk (which some of us did) from our hotel. You get there either by road or on foot & if you fancy the walk it’s got a rolling winding road that follows the beach with pretty apartments and villas running alongside. It’s set in a picturesque area surrounded by pine trees and pretty wooden fences.
We walked past Empúries which is an ancient Greek-Roman ruin and is one of the most important archaeological sites in Spain. I do plan to visit there one day!

We ate in the little square opposite this church and I had a dish I’d been looking forward to for ages! Mussels Marinara, which is a tomato sauce and is delicious. I had this with a mouthwatering goats cheese salad. Such a memorable place that we always used to frequent, still just as charming and very busy!

Our weekend ended way too soon and before I knew it I was travelling home to much cooler weather and a heavy heart. This place holds a bit of me there and I can’t wait to go back again, it’s like going home. ❤️
