Classic but still Fashionable - #Chicandstylish #LINKUP

Morning my friends.
How's your week going?

I've not been up to much this week, just the usual gym classes and spending time with the family.
Having said that I've been too busy to actually go into town and go shopping! In previous years I would shop in town every two weeks or so, but over the past few years it's dwindled.  My reason is mainly because the high street shops just aren't what they used to be. I do still try and pop into town every once in a while, but often end up disheartened!  Let's hope my next trip will be a different story as I need to have a look for some new pieces in the fashionable shade of khaki.  I really fancy this colour and reckon it will suit me too.  Remember my navy and olive faux wrap dress?
Fingers crossed I find loads of bits that will fill in any gaps I have in my wardrobe!

But let me tell you about this colour combo I love to wear.
Caramel, black and leopard print.
I've fallen for is this leo print shirt from Salamander Shirts, and whoever said a classic shirt can't be modern certainly didn't study their site.  Just look at this funky shirt I've teamed with wide leg trousers and an elegant blazer.

Items marked with * have been gifted to me, however these are 100% my own honest comments.

With all the best bits a classic shirt can give you this stylish example is a fantastic addition to any wardrobe including mine.  I was immediately drawn to this trendy top that I knew would look stunning with all sorts of trousers as well as jeans.

For the first wear I teamed my leo print shirt* with rust trousers, they're the trendy wide leg version that's not only flattering but very popular at the moment!  You've seen these plenty of times on the blog already including with an animal print tunic top & wearing a monochrome outfit here. The colours obviously work well together & the addition of the very thin red piping is stunning as is the black reverse on the cuff and button enclosure.  It all adds interest to the look!

This is a shaped fit which feels and fits perfectly.  I chose my normal size which actually fits me really well. So do go ahead with your usual size for a fit that will be spot on.  I adore the extra button that sits beautifully mid way on the bust so there's no sign of gaping - I know that can be a real problem for many of us.  Do you have trouble in this department?
I have a few other Grenouille shirts and all wash up really well and ironing this fabric is actually a dream, I hate a material that's hard to get creases out, which isn't the case here. X

Can you see the cute black cuff detail?  Really does make the outfit so much more interesting doesn't it.
It gave me the opportunity to match this elegant jacket into the mix.  I've so much love for this little jacket, aren't the shiny buttons everything! I'm excited to wear it more now the weather is cooler, so It'll be on the blog quite a lot from now on!!!

Final additions for my ensemble are matching caramel court shoes, that make my legs look longer.  I did have to shuffle my trousers down so they would cover more of my foot and I hope that it looks okay.  I paired a corresponding tan belt.  I always like to add one whenever I wear trousers as I feel they cinch my waist in, do you wear a belt?  Do tell me if you do and why?

The brown bag just matches the top and looks great.  I think a red bag would be brilliant and would bring out the red piping but that's on my list of things to get - maybe a Christmas present if any of the family are reading ... cough cough!!!

  3. Hi Jacqui - well put together outfit. If trousers have belt loops then they're designed to wear with a belt and I think it looks sloppy without. Plus if you have a waist you definitely need to show it off. IMO!!

  9. Ooh, Jacqui, this is a really striking outfit! I love these rust colors for fall and the leopard shirt is really beautiful. If there are belt loops on pants, I ALWAYS wear a belt. I have a very flat bottom so my pants fall down unless I belt them!
