Birthday & Busy Week - #Chicandstylish #LINKUP

Good morning my friends.
Hope you are well.
I've had a busy week with a few birthdays to celebrate.
On Saturday I actually went out, out!  My friends birthday on Monday meant 6 friends met in a local restaurant for a slap up Italian meal on Saturday night.  We all had a wonderful evening and all agreed it was much needed. It's was really nice to get dolled up in a pretty dress for a change.  I wore this cute red dress with some black ankle boots (will share on the blog soon).
I was left a little dumb founded with the wearing of masks.  I had to wear one whilst entering and walking to the table and also if needing the loo.  But whilst sitting at the table and people around me sitting at their tables not wearing anything - obviously! Why do we need them whilst walking around! There were also thin perspex sheets hanging between tables in some areas, and not in others.  I'm bemused to think the virus couldn't spread anyway.  I suppose restaurants have to be seen to be doing something don't they!
Yesterday was my mum's birthday & as she's not been going out my sister and I decided to take an Afternoon Tea to her.  I took scones, jam and cream, a cake my daughter (Little Berry Bakes) made, caramelised onion quiche and prosecco and my sister bought some quality sandwiches.  We set the table just like we'd be in a fancy restaurant and enjoyed a few cups of tea whilst devouring the tasty fare.
Today I'll be having my fringe trimmed, fringe-gate is the on going saga of my fringe. I don't mean to be awkward but each visit I seem to what something different, it's too full, too thin, too long or too short, I want it curved, straight or feathered!!! My hairdresser just does what I ask and never asks any questions - lol.  This afternoon I'm seeing my friend for a drink and chat - she's my Neal's Yard specialist, so I might come home with something on my wish list! 😉
Tomorrow is my daughter's birthday, it's a big one so I'll tell you all about it next week.

Short and sweet today, been a little bit lax on the blogging front recently.  I promise to fix this my friends and look forward to getting back to blogging and checking out your blogs.  I hope you'll join my #LINKUP today - I want to see what you've all been wearing recently.

Now it's #Chicandstylish #LINKUP time.

Favourite blogger from last week is Claire - Claire Justine.  I gasped when I saw Claire's post - firstly because her wide leg trousers are super cute and I want them for myself, secondly because she's pictured by The Thames and the Uber Thames Clipper Boat could well have been piloted by my son! #proudmummoment. 💜

  1. Oh your restaurants are still open? That's great. They are closed here for weeks. And what a lovely present for your mother!! It's fabulous to spend time with our loved ones.

  2. Sometimes, I think we just need to take a little blogging break, by blogging about something different, doing fewer posts, etc. It looks like that time with your mom was well spent. She looks really happy.

  3. It really feels like a treat to go out, out, doesn't it Jacqui?! We've been out a couple of times during Covid - a few weeks ago to a very small burger place in Praia da Rocha (a popular tourist town nearby). We went with our close friends (who just happen to live next door!) and it was wonderful. We had a little walk in town afterwards too. And last week we went out for an Indian for my dad's birthday. It is very weird having to wear a mask to the table and toilet but I guess it makes me people feel better! I'm so looking forward to when this is all over!

  4. Envious of your girls' night out - we are in tier 2 now so households can't mix indoors (and in restaurants) although it's still possible if you're discussing business! As if the virus can decide that it won't infect a group of work colleagues. Ludicrous. Enjoy your daughter's birthday!

  5. Jacqui, it sounds like you are keeping very busy with birthdays and friends and all sorts of other things! And it is super important to take some breaks and focus on you for a bit! So many of the Covid rules baffle and confuse me, too. Like not being able to try on clothes in stores. We are touching everything anyway. Is it because they just don't have staffing to clean fitting rooms? It seems like such a small space to eliminate when you still have to clean the whole rest of the store. But what do I know?! I just stay home. Haha.

  6. it's so nice you got to go out to a restaurant! And it's good they are trying to be safer with putting up some screens - the outbreaks here (although we haven't had any cases in over 40 days) always spread when people went to restaurants so whatever they try to make it safer is a good idea! :)

Thanks for the link up! Hope that you are having a good week! It's a pretty stormy one here but the rain is very welcome :)

  9. Happy Birthday to your mom and friend-lovely that you got to go out and celebrate! My family has a big pile up of birthdays at the end of October. My husband, brother, aunt and niece all within 10 days of each other! No gathering possible here, though, unfortunately, we are still on FaceTime.

  10. HI Jacqui!
Sounds like a wonderful tea and lunch with your sister and mom! Lots of birthday celebrations! Sounds like you had a great time with friends too. We do the same wear the mask to the restaurant and when the waitress comes around, going to the bathroom. Glad you enjoyed a day out!

  12. I always wonder that too about restaurants and the weird mask rules. But I have to tell you that even with all they're doing...here in Montreal all restaurants are again all closed. So, no matter what you do..
As for your mom- she's so cute! Have a great weekend xx

  14. I wonder as you do about the COVID "rules." Same thing here with masks in restaurants but mostly ours are outside. What a lovely birthday luncheon with your Mom! Also loved Claire Justine's picture on the Thames!

  15. Masks are confusing for sure, I actually do not understand them being open for indoor dining, seems too big a risk but for some it is important

  18. You've been busy! It's a treat to go out now days, isn't it? Chicago is imposing new dining restrictions starting tonight so it looks like its takeout for us indefinitely. Have a wonderful weekend!
