Relaxing in Playtex - #Chicandstylish #LINKUP

Morning my friends.
How are you all.
On Tuesday I ventured out to get my wedding outfit ......happy to say I found something and having already some suitable shoes, bag & fascinator hat I'm all set.  It's going to be a strange wedding for sure, with only 15, yes 15 people allowed to attend.  I'm absolutely gutted for my son and his future wife.  They've spent the past couple of years planning, buying, dreaming and looking forward to getting married, already having had to postpone it in June.  All the rules the government have set down seem very unfair to some, for example we can attend the hen afternoon tea the week before at the same venue with over twenty people - very unjust!  They could have postponed again for a date next year, but quite frankly they just want to get married now, so fifteen close family will be there to witness their marriage and enjoy a meal and few drinks.  I'll keep you posted about my outfit and how the day goes (it's not until a couple of weeks though).

A while ago I was asked to style some pretty lingerie, I toyed with the idea wondering if I should or shouldn't commit, I did - and you can catch the Playtex underwear set here. I figured it was just like being on the beach in a bikini.   When Playtex asked me if I'd like to review another set I happily said yes knowing if I'd done it once I could do it again.  Now lock-down hasn't been very kind to me, I've eaten what I wanted to and drunk a glass or two more often than I care to admit!  So for this post the photos aren't quite as revealing as the previous post - but you'll get the gist of just how lovely the set is.

Items marked with * have been gifted to me, however these are 100% my own honest comments.

I always like to wear matching underwear do you?  So for Winter this dark shade is spot on as I like to have sets match my outfits. Invisible Elegance by Playtex*, in striking Anchor Navy, has accents of teal which is a stylish combination.  All the new range are really pretty and offer the best support which basically is what we all want eh! There's a selection of bra sizes from 32 - 40 B, 32 - 42 C - F for £32 and briefs in S - 2XL for £17. I'm happy to say they fit true to form.
You can find the full range here at Grattan and Amazon.
Here's me lazing in the sun relishing the warmth, a cuppa and magazine.

Talking of lounging around, doesn't it seen a lifetime ago we were appreciating Summer weather?
I'd wanted some new garden furniture for a long time and rattan has proved really popular.  A very sophisticated set including corner sofa, table and two stools found their way to me from a local shop selling leisure garden supplies.  Unfortunately I missed out on the dining table and chairs that matched it, but felt jammy when I found one with another seller and had it delivered the following week. (They were like gold dust weren't they).
David, the kids and I enjoyed plenty of meals alfresco using both set's and made me very happy all the family had a matching chair - lol.  The evenings were the best, once the sun had gone down we sat outside enjoying the warm evenings with an alcoholic beverage (or three) recalling past events and telling stories under the stars.
I won't forget one of the last meetings on a warm Friday evening, my son-in-law got his bike out.  He managed to get my two daughters to have a go and ride around the garden, they were fine - getting him to help each of them off.  My turn and not to be outdone I jumped at the challenge.  Well you can imagine what happened after a couple of glasses!  I managed to get ON the bicycle riding around the garden twice, feeling positive I could get off, yes I could do that - even on a boys bike that was too high for me ..... NO I couldn't ... my bunny hop off the side resulted in me body planting the ground with a big thud!  How stupid of me, I might really have done some damage!  Fortunately I didn't, I just had an achy body and sore wrist for a week - that'll teach me! 🤣

Moral of the story .... you never forget how to ride a bike, but getting off might be more of an issue!!!

Do you spy what I'm readying in the next shot?  It's Platinum Magazine which I found myself featured in, but guess what!  I've been featured in another this month - Yours Magazine has a 50+ spread sharing the styles of me and some of my friends from Style not Age collective - namely Gail, Hilda and Anna all over 50 and all doing it for the older generation - yay for us!!

  1. Congrats to you and the other bloggers for your spread in Platinum! How cool! I’m sorry the wedding has to be so small, but they were wise to go ahead since we really don’t know when this will be over. The lingerie looks great and so do you!

  10. what a pretty set and so very sorry for you son, It is a tough time. For the covid not being body kind and do I feel that one. I changed outfits today after realizing choice a was a tad too snug. I made it though the first 6 months with zero weight gain and walking every day. Then took a week at a cottage and I swear I hevent stopped eating or spreading since yikes

  11. These rules make absolutely no sense to me either...and frankly it's making it so difficult for all celebrations, but certainly the hardest for those getting married. Well at least it will be intimate, beautiful and memorable for sure. The lingerie is really pretty!

  17. I feel so bad for people getting married now! It's sad they can't have a big celebration! But at least it is the marriage that matters, not the wedding itself.

  19. Jacqui, you are so brave. You are right that it is just like being in a bikini at the beach, but I wouldn't do that either. Ha,ha. You look fabulous and how exciting for the upcoming wedding, even with the small crowd. I am sure it will be memorable and lovely! - Amy
