Style not Age - Gothic Romance.

Hi there everyone - thanks for joining me today.
Can we really be in the last week of October already?  With Halloween next weekend it won't be long and I'll be putting my Christmas decorations up!  Yes really Hubby and I have decided we are going to start the festivities early in order to bring on Christmas, some fun times and the end to a very bad year!
You might remember last week I told you I've started buying some gifts already & with another shopping trip under my belt I've managed to cross off quite a few from my list - hopefully I'll get everything done and dusted before there's any sign of queues outside shops or items out of stock!
I had another wonderful weekend with the family.  If you saw my IG stories you'll have seen I went pumpkin picking with my grand-kids.  Something I've never done, and if the weather's that bad again it might be my last - lol.  We had rain all morning, and the field was full of sticky mud with plenty of puddles to splash about in - fortunately I wore my wellies - I've had them for years and really need to get a new pair.  Maybe I'll invest in this pair from Joules, they could last me another 30 years!  I came home with about 8 pumpkins of different sizes, the kids just kept adding to the basket.  Some have been carved and are outside already.  I'm going to carve mine when I have a spare five minutes and maybe make a soup or something with the insides.

Okay let's get back to the task in hand.
As it's the last Monday of the month it's the turn of the ladies from Style not Age to complete their latest challenge.  This month has been set by Emma and her choice of Gothic Romance proved a rather hard topic!  As I had no idea I went online for a bit of inspiration. This is what I came up with!

I found this dress on Ebay.  I originally bought if for another challenge, but when it arrived it was far too sheer to wear as a dress so it's been hiding in the wardrobe ever since.  When Emma sent me the prompt I got to thinking maybe I could wear some leggings under it therefore giving it another lease of life.  It still didn't look right so last minute I twisted a hair band around a chunk of it pulling it up one side.  It looks a darn sight better but I still won't be wearing it again any time soon!
To compliment my vampish red lipstick I donned red sock boots that have a sparkly effect over them - not sure if the photos picked that up!

As it was day time when I took the photos I was more likely to find a Teddy Bear's picnic than anything Gothic or scary - but I took my lantern with me just in case. 🧛👻

I hold my hands up to not enjoying this challenge and can't wait to tackle something different - you can tell by my face can't you - lol.

Time to see what my four friends have been styling.

First up it's Emma - Style Splash.  You really look the part here Emma, and can see why you picked this title.  Your dress depicts the prompt brilliantly, as does the necklace.

Now shall we take a look at Gail - Is this Mutton?  Gail has gone the whole hog and worn a black wig too.  Typical black and white certainly does give a Gothic vibe & that blouse wins full points as it's from a proper Gothic supplier.  Well done Hun. x

Next it's Hilda's turn. She opted for a stunning dress that screams romance, but the killer addition is her edgy boots - I love them.  Find all the details on her blog Over the Hilda.

Last but not least here's Anna's take on the prompt.  Like me Anna was right out of her comfort zone with this one, but honestly you've got it in the bag my friend this outfit is stunning and definitely full of romance.  Catch all the back story on her blog Anna's Island Style.

Great to have you here today, do hope you'll pop back on Thursday, there's a brand new #Chicandstylish #LINKUP to join.
Have a super week.
Bye for now. X

  11. I love that dress on you! I think knotting it over leggings was a perfect choice, this meets the theme so well! :)

I'm almost finished my Christmas shopping - the mail can be slow here around Christmas so I don't want to leave anything until the last moment just in case! In fact I'll need to do my Christmas cards soon, eek!

Hope that you are having a good week! It's a pretty stormy one here but the rain is very welcome :)
