Style Not Age Put a Bow on it!

Morning my friends.
Hope your weekend went well.

What did you get up to?  I spent a bit of Saturday working on an upcoming project, which worked out okay & Saturday night after watching the rugby I had a curry and watched a film.
Sunday morning I went with my daughter and her family to watch my granddaughter play football in a little village I grew up in! With the league situation here the matches end up being quite far away so journeys of about an hour away are sometimes normal! It was nice to reminisce and see how the area had changed over the past 50 years!! Yes it was that long ago!
I had breakfast after the football in the local pub, it was the first time I’d stepped foot in The Six Bells but it was right next door to the church I loved going to the Harvest Festival service and the old school house where I went to the youth club! I’ve got so many memories of my young life there, some very obscure, lots prominent but ask me what I did earlier today I don’t have a clue! 😂
I must share the results of the match, 3-3 and my granddaughter scored a hat trick - very proud nanny indeed. 🩷

Now shall we get down to today’s post? It’s the last Monday of February, so time to turn our attention to my four colleagues and me for the Style Not Age challenge …

Put a Bow on it!

Everyday Casual - #Chicandstylish #LINKUP

Hi there.
Hope you are okay.

Just about starting to feel normal after the busy week I've had.  Another birthday yesterday so a celebration with drinks, Chinese and some delicious Rocky Road made by my daughter.  Yeah don't mention the diet please ... lol
I seem to have got my zest back for blogging and 'graming and have created some photos to use on both platforms.  It's been good to hear feed back from fellow bloggers and Instagramers alike stating they've felt just like I did and what they did about it, it's been helpful to read and actually know I'm not the only one!  I've also been back to the gym and this ALWAYS makes me feel better.  Well doesn't exercising release natural endorphins???  I'm also returning to Ballet after my couple of weeks off, last week I just didn't feel 100% so decided to give it a miss, I've also been away from ballroom dancing too, the first wasn't my fault, but the second session was the club was closed - it's back on this Friday, and I can't wait.

Are you like me and keep special things for special occasions?

Statement Sleeves - Style not Age

Hello my lovely friends.
How's your Bank Holiday weekend going?
Hasn't the month just flown by!  I think it's because we've had a little more freedom as I'm fitting more and more into my weeks.  I've been enjoying it, but admit it's been hard keeping up with it all, I hope in time I'll get used to it again and fit even more exciting things in too.

Over the weekend I enjoyed a family party at my mum's house.  Fortunately the weather was good for us and we had an outdoor event with a bouncy castle for the kids that lasted into the early evening when the weather got windy and much cooler.  We made it easier for mum by all taking a plate of food - I made some smoked salmon pate and coronation chicken with rice.  It was a super afternoon and we all had a thoroughly great time - and that was without any adults having a go on the bouncy castle!

Anyway enough of my weekend antics, let's jump into the August Style Not Age challenge.

The challenge was set by Emma - Style Splash who's prompt of Statement Sleeves certainly got me thinking!  I have many items with noticeable sleeves and knowing I've used most of them on the blog already made the challenge a little hard for me.

I've ended up picking a pretty top that you may recall seeing in the past (I've had this Bonmarche top for years).  I wanted to pair it with a classic white skirt but couldn't find one suitable so decided to go with the Autumnal transitional look and wore these grey culottes .... complimenting grey leaf on my pretty blue floral blouse perfectly.

Culottes, Tan Blazer & Pretty White Blouse - #Chicandstylish #LINKUP

Hi there my friends.
How's it going?
We've had some brilliant weather here in the UK recently, I hope you've been blessed with some warm rays.
I'm getting the garden into shape and today after ballet I'm off to the garden center to pick up some new flowers.  I really enjoy being in the garden and would happily work outside than do any housework or cooking!  As it was so hot yesterday we had a BBQ of burgers and sausages, we all agreed a basic menu like this is sometimes all you want!
I'm on day 10 of no alcohol and calorie counting - it's going well so far - so I'm hoping I can trim down again.  I'm also back to my spin classes, I absolutely love working out and even though I find it bloomin' hard work I know I feel better for it.  My dancing classes are open again, so I've been having fun getting back into the swing of them too.

Did you miss any of last month's posts?  You can catch them all in one on Monday's post featuring my May Review.

Had my 2nd jab on Monday, all went well and we even managed to have a bite to eat in a local restaurant.  The little Italian called Posillipo is in the center of Canterbury and was rather busy for a Monday night.  We had a table inside and devoured our dishes washed down with a beer (zero for me) - no wine on a school night of course. 😆  I wonder if you saw my dishes on Instagram? Hope I didn't make you jealous?  I had Scalopine Di Pollo with a side order of Spinaci - what more can I say it was delicious.

I've been wearing lots of dresses over the past few days, it's been too hot to wear much else.  I wanted to share this pretty blouse with you today.  I need to wear it with a pretty white skirt, but first I need to get a pretty white skirt - lol. X

Neutral Casual Chic - #Chicandstylish #LINKUP

Morning my lovely friends.
Hope you are all well, are you enjoying a four day week?

I had a super weekend and because the sun was shinning everything & everyone seemed happier.  I actually sat in the garden on my new-last-year rattan furniture, haven't managed to do that yet this year!  We even ate dinner outside on Monday.
It's half term here in the UK and the town has been really busy so I try to avoid it unless I pop in early.  I met a friend on Wednesday, we went to have lunch at our local which is in walking distance - we've not seen each other since the beginning of lock-down and it was lovely to catch up with her.  Sitting in the pub garden, in the sunshine, eating and drinking was pure heaven, I'm not going to take things like this for granted anymore.

On Tuesday I returned to my spin class at the gym, I was worried I wouldn't be any good - but I surprised myself and finished the whole class not coming in last but with quite a respectable score.  I'm pleased to have booked another class this morning - wish me luck!
I also have a trip to our local wildlife park booked today - I'll be going with my girls and grandchildren, I'm excited to be visiting Wingham Wildlife Park as I've not been before.  There's lots for the kids to do, so the fun and adventure begins as soon as we arrive.

Now let's tell you a little about my outfit of the day.

The long necklace I fancied wearing works really well - it's got a bit of everything going on, wood, beads, gold and chains.

Neutral Tan with Pop's of Pink.

Hello my friends.
What you doing today?
I'm counting down to the run of three birthdays starting with mine on the 15th.  My gran-daughters is the following day and I remember when she was born so clearly.  I'd made a mild hot curry for my birthday meal which my daughter had, bye the next evening she had mild back-ache which the midwife said was nothing!  Some two or so hours later my little princess arrived, at home in the bedroom - how many people can say they were born at home eh!  As you can imagine she has a list of presents she'd like, one in particular (we're not sure where she got it from) a 'ginger cat' - according to mum and dad she's definitely not getting that one!

With the weather still so changeable (one day last week we had sun, rain, hail, wind, thunder & lightning) my outfits can't really be confined to one style.  Jeans, have been my 'go to' style, with jumpers and boots, but I've also been sporting wide legs trousers and a nice dress here and there.
I've not worn these culottes this year which is such a shame because they are the perfect Spring piece.  I wore them plenty last year including paired with navy, looking floral with sunflowers and matched with my biscuit trench coat.

April Review.

Good morning my friends.
Happy Bank Holiday May Day to you.
How are you all?
Can't quite believe we are actually in May 2021 - crazy eh!
April was a busy month for me, with 5 immediate family birthdays to celebrate.  It was also full of anticipation for another easing of lock-down - come May 17th (with fingers crossed we'll be able to go into a restaurant & pub to eat and drink - hurrah!!!)
Haven't done much over the weekend, quiet Saturday and roast dinner yesterday and who knows what today will bring.  If the weather is nice we may go out to eat, but will play that one by ear - who wants to sit and eat outside in the cold?

As it's the beginning of May I'd like to share what I got up to in April, do scroll down for all the outfits I wore.

Starting with this stylish look.  Faux leather culottes in soft brown.  It's a versatile look and I like how easy and relaxed it feels on.  Comfortable & dressy.

White culottes again! - #Chicandstylish #LINKUP

Good morning my lovely friends.
Hope you are well.
Monday's blog post was a bit of a non-starter!  Apologies for that.  I've been feeling a bit lethargic and lazy of late and I'm afraid the blog has suffered.  I've been doubting my self again and wondering what I'm doing in the big wide world of blogging.  I'm trying to tell myself that I'm doing it for me, and not for gaining followers, likes and nice comments, but we all want to be liked and accepted don't we?  Do you feel like this and how do you cope?
It was a busy weekend with a roast dinner and all the trimmings - I might add it was Turkey that was bought and frozen last Christmas to have at Easter, we decided to bring it out for Sunday and there's plenty of meat left to be eaten so will probably freeze it for another meal.  Good weather, family and a little drink is just what the doctor ordered eh!
It's still warm though, so my transitional pieces are doing a bit of a yo-yoing act - one minute they're on, the next .... yes you know it.  I've bought a couple of new pieces that I can't wait to show you.  They are most suitable for cooler days and I think towards the end of the week that's what we may have.  Do stop by to see them in the next few weeks.
Today I'm sharing another look for my white culottes - catch when I wore them with a cold shoulder top, dressed up for a party & with a rust jumper for fall.

Black & White Bonmarche with a Red Top - #Chicandstylish #LINKUP

Hi there my lovely friends.
How you doing?
Our windy weather has made way for rain - it's been a very grey here with only a glimpse of sunshine today!  I've been in charge of the grand-kids over the past couple of days as Mummy & Daddy have been busy building their new home.  It's been such a fun time and I know I'll look back on our times together with love and affection once the house is finished and lock-down is over.  I wonder what they will remember when they are older? 🤔  My princess is back at school & my prince is at pre-school, one loves it the other doesn't - they are like chalk and cheese.  I definitely think getting kids back to normality and school is better for their mind-set & don't we all need a bit of normality!

My new dresses from Next have arrived - although I've not had a chance to try them on yet!  I like to set aside a little time so I can try on, mix with shoes, jewellery and jackets, you know work out a few looks for the future, I can't wait for that to happen.
What have you been wearing lately?  Still wearing your comfy casuals or are you dressing to impress - even if it's only the cashier - lol.  I trying not to wear my denim too much & my newly acquired culottes from Bonmarche are doing a good job.  I'm smitten with these wide leg crops having grabbed them plenty of times lately as they are so comfortable. In fact I'm wearing them now!

Items marked with * have been gifted to me, however these are 100% my own honest comments.
