Style not Age enjoy Sunset Shades.

Morning everyone
Hows your Bank Holiday Weekend going?

We actually went out on Saturday night. We had dinner with friends in a new local restaurant and had a wonderful time and a fantastic meal! There was a 40th birthday party at the next table which turned out to be someone I knew. We joined in some of the celebrations and I even got to have a little boogie! Copious amounts of fizz was consumed and the next morning was relatively slow. I soon brightened up after helping my daughter clean the AirBnb and after shopping for roast beef ingredients prepared, with chef David, a delicious dinner complete with Yorkshire puddings and roast potatoes. I was completely stuffed so spent the evening relaxing on the sofa before an early night. How did you spend your Sunday? Today is Bank Holiday Monday and both David and I decided to do absolutely nothing! Let’s see how that pans out! lol!

The last Monday of the month can only mean we take a look at what the Style not Age ladies have planned for us.  This month’s theme fell into Emma’s lap and she gave us the delightful prompt of Sunset Shades.

Moving out & Life Insurance - Chic & Stylish Linkup

Morning my friends.
How’s your week been?

With cooler temperatures it’s been nice to wear some of my clothes that aren’t shorts/tee shirt combos and sundresses! I’ve been wearing some thicker trousers with some of my knitted tops. One look I loved as soon as I put it on was this one. I neglected to get proper photos and only got this short reel. I’m planning on taking proper photos in the week so will share that with you soon.

This is a sponsored post, however these are my own honest comments.

Styling a Leopard Print Shirtdress.

Good morning my friends.
Hope your month is going alright so far, it’s weird to think September is on the horizon isn’t it.

Another lovely weekend with the family. On Saturday I helped my youngest on a cake stall at a local camp site. They’d arranged a fun family day to raise money for a charity and she had her cake stall there for the afternoon. Her sisters also came to help and she did really well. She’d baked brownies, blondies, cupcakes, rocky road and cookies which went down really well. She only came home with a handful of spares (which she managed to sell the next day) so all in all a really successful day.

David and I got a takeaway in the evening and watch Atonement - it’s a romantic war drama and has a very good story running through it, I urge you to watch it even if it’s only to see ‘the green dress’ Keira Knightly wore!

I’ve had a bit of a romance with the colour brown recently and plan to add more and more of this shade into my wardrobe for the new season. You can view my new trousers here along with a dress I found on Vinted.

So when this dress caught my eye on the Izabel website I thought I’d be a good addition and guess what, I was right. Just look how good it is. 🤎

Chocolate Tones - Chic & Stylish Linkup.

Morning everyone.
How are you?

Well we’re supposed to be having a heatwave but although it’s still sticky hot here it’s been cloudy all day with a stormy vibe. We had a little bit of rain yesterday, but nothing major and definitely no storm!

I took a trip into Canterbury Matalan earlier this week, I was on my way to an appointment (I’ll spill the beans soon) and I grabbed the opportunity with two hands to do a bit of shopping. Unfortunately the new season pieces haven’t filtered into my local store yet and the pickings were slim but I did come home with a couple of pairs of trousers, two tops and some underwear! You can see my TikTok reel here where I shared all my findings.

So my outfit, which I wore yesterday, featured a pair of trousers I bought & loved.

That was a fantastic weekend!

Hello my darlings,
Hope you’re well.

I’ve had a fan-tastic weekend and to be honest really needed it!

Both David and I worked hard at our youngest son’s house clearing a very overgrown garden. We filled a skip full to debris having chopped and cut lots of trees, shrubs and plants that had been left to multiply! We were both exhausted and returned home to chill in the garden. David suggested we head off into town to have dinner so almost reluctantly we both got ourselves ready for the taxi ride to Canterbury which took us to our restaurant. Salt Steak House served various steaks, chickens with delicious side dishes which all sounded divine. I picked their ribeye special which came with chips, salad and a portion of bread. I have to say I was very good and only had half the chips along with the steak and salad, at no point did I touch the bread!
We settled on a bottle of champagne which went down very nicely indeed. Once finished we both passed on desserts, so after paying the bill headed off to one of the many pubs in the city to have another cheeky glass of fizz. This one lacked atmosphere so once we’d finished our drinks we made our way to my favourite venue which served Porn Star Martinis - what a delicious cocktail and one I’d throughly recommend! Do you have a ‘go-to’ cocktail?

Sunday was another lovely day, somewhat more chilled with a spot of grass cutting and dinner prep for a roast dinner. It was only going to be David and I but my eldest daughter popped round with her family and decided to stay for dinner, we managed to make the chicken go round a couple more mouths, it’s amazing how adding more vegetables and a packet of frozen Yorkshire’s will make a meal stretch further.

Izabel Sundress - Chic & Stylish Linkup.

Good morning.
How’s it going?

All good here albeit still very busy!
I think it’s a culmination of gym, grankids being on holiday and doing the AirBnb work! But the weeks seem to be flying by at a scary speed. Can you believe we’re nearly in the middle of August!

Do you recall I looked after my son’s dog? I loved it and she was so good for us. I did nearly lose her once when she escaped the garden when I turned my back! She was so quick and I nearly had a heart attack thinking I’d have to tell them she was lost or worse still! Gulp, in an accident! Fortunately all was well and she’d gone down the road and was running around someone’s garden. A very kind couple gathered her up and came looking for us (luckily coming in the right direction)! So I kept a very good eye on her after that and put her on the lead at every opportunity! Not that she liked that! But I had to keep my sanity going! Do you look after anyone’s animals? Let me know if you do and if you’ve had any mishaps too! So she’s back at home safe and sound now, I’m planning on having the grandkids at some stage so fingers crossed I won’t have to worry about losing either of them!!! lol.

I had a nice sunny day yesterday, so took full advantage of it taking these fab shots in this pretty sundress.

July Review

Hello and welcome to Mummabstylish.
What have you been up to?

So the bad weather didn’t arrive over the weekend (I’m sure they only ‘scaremonger’ us)! So I got the grass cut, both front and back, strimmed the edges and trimmed the willow tree. It’s at the entrance and when it’s so long it makes driving off hard to navigate! Now I’m not saying it’s the M25 down our road but I like to be able to see what’s coming along.  The garden looks nice and tidy now, and the pots are all in full bloom which is lovely. Shame it’s not been that hot to sit out in! David was working at our daughter’s house getting the garden ready for laying turf and also preparing a hard standing for their cars. It’s coming together nicely so before long the whole house will be finished - jeez I hope they don’t put it up for sale now! 😂

Can you believe it’s the beginning of August? This year really has flown by! Why is this year any different from previous ones? I think it’s because I’m so busy nowadays, the weeks roll into one and before long it’ll be Christmas.

Now as it’s the first Monday of the month it’s time to look back at July’s posts to see what I’ve been wearing.
Welcome to the July Review.

Way back at the beginning of July I took you to Cornwall. I shared my adventure down there with my sister and mum whilst we visited my uncle. Do have a look at what we found on our day out to Charlestown.

A New Teddy Blake Bag - Chic & Stylish Linkup

Hi there.
Hope you’re all okay.

Apologies again for a late post, life is so busy at the moment and I’m finding it hard to get everything finished!
In-between seeing the grandkids, going to my gym classes, doing my housework and ironing/cleaning the AirBnb I’ve been looking after my son’s dog. We’ve got Hallie for a week and it’s been lovely. She’s such a good dog and like most doggies doesn’t want much. I’ve been walking her every day which has been really nice. That’s one of the things I’ve missed since losing my little Candy and Roxy but I’m still not replacing them any time soon. Dogs are such a tie aren’t they!
I met an old friend today, she emigrated to Oz about 17 years ago and although I’ve seen her twice since she left it was lovely to catch up again. We went to a local pub with some other friends and had a super lunch washed down with a glass of spritz. Time soon ran away with us and we had to draw the lunch to a close before all of us headed off in different directions but I have to admit our chats were just like old days and ran smoothly as if we’d never changed! I had a delicious Caesar Salad which was just the right amount, I always cook in the evenings so didn’t want to have two meals! That would be greedy and would have filled me uncomfortably up!

Let’s talk bags. I have plenty hanging in my wardrobe but am always partial to a new style and this beauty touched a nerve, a nice one and I had to have it!

SNA show us Festival Fashion

Morning my friends.
How’s your week been?

I’ve had a wonderful weekend. Saturday evening I was at a wedding reception. Imagine how excited I was to find out it was a black tie event which as you well know means wearing a long evening dress! I’ve only worn an evening dress on a handful of occasions and I couldn’t wait to get ready for it. I’d bought a couple of dresses from a company called Goddiva and when they both arrived I couldn’t decided as I liked them both. I kept them just in case I need another for a suitable event, but who knows when that’ll be! They both looked great on and fitted like a glove although this one was a bit too long so had to be taken up! I didn’t do a bad job and revelled at how good it ended up.
This is the drop shoulder fitted maxi I wore, but today’s post is really all about me and my co-partners for the Style not Age challenge which fell into my hands. I opted for a typical Summertime prompt of Festival Fashion purely because we’re in the height of summer festivals having just had Glastonbury and IOW gatherings with many more coming up including Edinburgh Fringe and the Leeds/Reading events.

Big Florals - Chic & Stylish Linkup

Hi there.
How are you?

Popped into Canterbury yesterday and all the sales are on!  I used to love browsing the rails of the shops to find a bargain and although I love to get something cheap - I hate going through sale rails now! They're always packed with some awful outdated items, hanging off the hanger and all the sizes are generally mixed up or on a hanger showing the wrong size (makes my blood boil)! So for this kind of shopping I'm happy to look online, yes you did read that correctly - I'm turning into an online sale shopper!

I remember this time of year well! Just after the schools breakup and I used to start thinking of holiday clothes for the kids everything was in the sale! I enjoyed finding bargains and scoured the shops for the right sizes and styles for the holiday we always had the end of August. I must add back in the day there were plenty of shops open and had sprawling items just waiting to be bought. Fast forward to 2025 it just isn’t the same. Neither am I though, so it works for me now.  I’m sure most families in the same situation & shop online finding just what they need at the click of a button.

I wore an old dress into town and got a lovely compliment from a shop assistant who said my bright colourful dress matched my complexion. It was a dreary, cloudy day that was sticky & hot & had notifications of an amber weather warning in the evening, it certainly brighten my day and looking around what everyone else was wearing I might just have brightened other peoples days up too!

It must have worked because it brighten up in the evening with no sign of a thunderstorm in my vicinity. ☺️

Relaxing in a maxi dress.

Hi there.
How’s your world turning?

Hope you’ve had a good weekend, went too fast didn’t it!
Although I didn’t do much it was lovely.

I’d planned to have a BBQ yesterday but the weather had other ideas! We ended up having a family roast which was brilliant. Having been on my keto diet for a few months therefore potatoes and other carbs have been off the menu (unless I’d cheated) so it was a delicious addition to have a couple of roasties along with a Yorkshire pudding with my roast chicken dinner. It’s been ages since all the family go together and although last minute everyone except my son and his family came round. It was a mad house though as the kids couldn’t really play outside (however they did at times)! Do you have big family gatherings? The best times aren’t they!

I was talking about how to slow down a busy life on Instagram last week. How do you like to relax and unwind?
Taking a walk in the countryside works for me when I’m a bit het-up and stressed, so last week and a busy few days I took myself off for a little stroll in this stunning dress. Swishing and swaying in this beauty did make me happy as the photos show. ☺️

Long Weekend in L’Escala - Chic & Stylish Linkup

Morning my friends.
How are you?

First I need to apologise for no post on Monday. You see I got back from Spain late on Monday and quite honestly didn’t have the energy to do a post!

The weekend went by in a flash. We traveled out to Gerona Spain mid day and arrived in the town of L’Escala late afternoon which was perfect. The hotel is one we always passed when we stayed there years ago. It’s mid way between the old town of L’Escala and Riells beach and an ideal position to get everywhere. We’ve got so many memories of this pretty fishing village that’s sprawled out to almost being unrecognisable in some places! We always rented a villa and self catered, well that’s how it started but soon the children got a taste for adult food we ate out. It became quite expensive at times as their liking for filet steak grew each year. The weather is really changeable and we often encountered rain, and boy does it rain there. We had a storm on Saturday night too. The government sent emergency messages with what to do should it get that bad!! Yeah that was scary! 😱

I bought a couple of new bits for the trip and also took some outfits I’ve already worn. I thought you’d like to see the two new ones today.

Elie Beaumont Bag - Chic & Stylish Linkup

Good morning.
Hope you’re all well.

I’ve had a busy few days getting everything done as I’m off for a long weekend to L’Escala tomorrow. It’s a little village on the Costa Brava coast in the bay of Roses. It’s been a holiday venue for us when the children were small and before that David used to holiday there with his parents back in the 70’s. We’ve seen a lot of changes over the years and I’m sure not having been there for quite a few years it’ll have changed even more! We’re staying in a hotel we used to walk past (we normally stayed in a villa and self catered) so it’ll be lovely to enjoy being ‘looked after’ for a change. Not all the family are coming with us, just Sophie and her fiancé along with James, and Davids’ sister, husband, daughter, son and his girlfriend will be joining us so it’s sure to be a fun few days. We’ve earmarked our favourite restaurants and pray we’ll be able to book a table - one in particular ( we call it “pigs cheeks” for obvious reasons) will be top of the list & I’ll share some piccys if I do manage to get there.

I’ve got a couple of new bits to take and some pieces you’ve seen before and I’ll share them each day on IG for a little fashion show. ☺️

Thought I’d tempt you with my new bag today. I was kindly gifted this beautiful hobo sling bag from Elie Beaumont so let me know what you think about this stunning arm candy. 🤍

June Review.

Hi there.
Thanks for coming by.

Another wonderful weekend with the family, culminating with my mum’s annual garden party.  My mum likes to have all the family round for a big party nearly every year, so yesterday was the day. We usually have rain! She picks a day that we can all make (except my youngest son couldn’t this year) which is a different date each year! Nonetheless we seem to always have rain! We don’t have the thunderstorms as promised by the weather readers - fortunately, but did have a couple of showers but that didn’t deter the kids from enjoying the bouncy castle - or me for that matter!
My daughter helped mum organise everything from setting the date on a poll on our phones to arranging what food to bring etc. we decided on smaller amounts unlike previous years and I was pleased to see most of the food got eaten and only small amounts was left! I made a coronation chicken dish with wild rice which went down a treat, and that was teamed with charcuterie and cheese, coleslaw, potato salad, salad and a couple of cold pasta dishes too. There was also crisps and pate with bread to devour & I admit to doing just that as my diet was on hold yesterday. I also relished the desserts too, homemade banoffee pie, biscoff cheesecake and Eton mess went down a treat, there’s something about homemade puddings that I can’t resist!

Back to today. It’s the beginning of July and as it’s the first Monday of the month let’s look back on my styles for June for the ….

Cornwall - Chic & Stylish Linkup.

Hi there everyone.
Hope you’re all okay.

This has been a while coming and I’m pleased to share my three nights stay in Cornwall with you.

You might have seen me mention I went away to Cornwall back in May and have finally got this post together so I can tell you about it.

We left on a Wednesday morning and travelled down to Cornwall on a fairly clear motorway, but once we got to Stonehenge traffic got quite clogged up. The road goes from duel carriage way to single lane and back to duel numerous times - which makes the journey very hard going. Services on the M3 are fair but I reckon there could be more! We arrived mid afternoon after having a coffee stop just over half way when we had a wrap as well.  Once we arrived at Pencubitt House we were directed to our rooms and sat down for a cup of tea with a nice cold glass of Prosecco!  We've stayed here numerous times and feel right at home there, in fact David and I had the same room when we went to collect a table back in 2015.  Yes we drove down to my uncles, collected a table that my grandfather had made, went and found the hotel, had a delicious meal in Looe, stayed in the hotel overnight and after having a lovely breakfast drove home!! Yes all that way for one night!
Julie and Patrick are brilliant hosts and nothing is too much trouble!  It's what I call chintzy hotel with swags and tails and a mix of jacquard fabrics and lots of ornaments and photos - lots of which they have collected over their travels. Last year they introduced a new sitting room which has a tea and coffee station befitting the interior - it's set upon a big dresser with a little fridge hidden in a cupboard and even has a tin of biscuits too.  Julie aptly named it the Pencuban continuing with their countries-visited vibe .

Style Not Age Dress for the Heat.

Morning everyone.
How are you?

Wow hasn’t it been a scorcher here in the uk! We’ve really been having some Mediterranean weather here, just a shame for everyone going about their daily work and chores. All I’ve wanted to do is sit by the pool with a cocktail in my hand, shame I’ve haven’t got a pool, or cocktail maker in sight!!

We had a family bbq yesterday and enjoyed some tasty treats. David did the bbq, it’s always a man’s job isn’t it! He did end up with a burnt tummy after cooking all the burgers, sausages, chicken, kofte’s - and king prawns on skewers, which were marinated in garlic and chillies, along with a few tasty salads made by my daughter Sophie. She did a Greek salad, two potato salads, pasta salad and burrata salad, which was delicious by the way, and lots of little extras. The diet went flying out the window and everything was washed down with a few proseccos! The weather was incredible and we had to pop the sprinkler on for the kids to run around in! I admit to joining them for a cool down which they loved & thought was very funny. Family time is the best isn’t it.
In the evening, after a cool shower I settled down to watching the last night of Glastonbury. I’ve mixed feelings about this annual event and although I’d LOVE to go feel I’d hate it at the same time. Queueing, being too hot (or cold or wet), camping - not for me, being pinched and shoved and having to find everything as it’s so vast sounds awful. But the atmosphere, well having spoken to many people who’ve been is amazing. So maybe one day I’ll go, maybe glamping would be my vibe! 😂

Anyhow, back to today’s topic, it’s time for Style not Age to take to the stage and our prompt this month is set by Hilda so we are … Dressing for the Heat.

Chunky Sandals from Lotus Shoes.

Hi there.
How are you?

Wow wee! That was a busy weekend, so much so I didn’t manage to get blogging until tonight!
Nothing to report on Friday as there was no dancing but Saturday was a busy, busy day.  I started off in the garden, cutting the grass, trimming the hedge and collecting the spoil ending with a bit of weeding! I was completely shattered and don’t actually no how I managed to get out on the evening. I went with my girls to celebrate my best friend’s 60th celebrations (I was at her party last week).  She’d arranged a bingo night at a local venue and 20 of us had a fantastic night enjoying games of music bingo with drinks and some piccy food. The premise of the game is to mark off each tune when it’s played and anyone who gets one line, two lines or a full house wins a prize! They also had a game which you paid £2 for a chance to play black or red! I didn’t get called out for that one, nor did I win any of the games but my sister-in-law did which was fabulous! Plenty of drinks flowed and in-between the games there was lots of dancing. You can imagine I was up and dancing as soon as I could! 😂

I wore an outfit you’ve seen on here before.  So today I wanted to share these new sandals with you.

Floral Green & Cream Trousers - Chic & Stylish Linkup.

Hiya!
How are you?

Just over half way through June, that’s crazy isn’t it. It always makes me sad to get to the middle of June when we have the longest day! Nights will start to draw in from then and to me it highlights that we’re on the way to another year ending! I know there’s lots of months to get through until the end of December but you know what I mean!😢

If you’re following me on Instagram or TikTok, you may have seen my reel featuring “new in” clothes from
Sainsbury’s. It seemed to go down well so I’ve decided to do another one featuring clothes from Matalan. I’ll be sharing it on those social media sites soon, so hope you’ll have a look.

Today’s post is about my favourite style of trousers - the palazzo wide leg. Do let me know what you think of this outfit, the buttery yellow tee shirt is new and I ventured out of my usual styling pattern to pair it with these colours.

60th Birthday Celebrations.

Hiya 👋
You okay?

Hope you’ve had a super week, have you had good weather? We’ve had it a bit hotter and somewhat humid so on Friday night we had one almighty storm! We turned the lights off and watched the lightening light up the sky as if it was daytime! The claps of thunder signed it was right above us at times but fortunately we didn’t have too much rain so no danger of flooding. Of course by the next morning apart from a few puddles there was no sign of anything happening!

I went to a party on Saturday night. It was my best friends’s 60th celebrations and she had an enchanting garden party complete with pretty flowers and fairy lights.
It was a lovely evening chatting with old friends and finding new ones - the ones you feel you already know because you’ve heard so much about them! We dancing ate and drank until the early hours and succumbed to the tired feelings that enveloped us all catching a taxi at 1 am! Wow what a way to celebrate your 60th but I needed the slow day on Sunday to recoup and get back to normal!

Always there to share good and bad times with a friendship that has never wained!

I wore this maxi dress but should have taken a little jacket with me as the wind didn’t retreat in the afternoon and made it seem so much colder. The food was delicious, I took a homemade pâté which went down really well - I’ve got some orders in for Christmas already! 😂

Tu Clothing Trousers - Chic & Stylish Linkup

Good morning everyone.
How’s your world going?

It’s been another fab week especially after a really good weekend. You remember I told you about the darts competition on Saturday night, well what I didn’t tell you was that my daughter announced she’d got engaged! I’m thrilled for her and can’t wait to get planning another wedding, although I’m not sure when that will be as they’ve got to buy somewhere to live as well! She’s got a beautiful ruby and diamond halo ring that’s stunning and her fiancée picked a beauty!

On Sunday, David and I were invited to a venue in London for a dinner show. All I can say right now is that it was a brilliant night, with exceptional food and some delicious champagne - which is now my favourite drink! You’ll be the first to know when the post goes live as I can’t wait to share it with you! I wore my vivid pink midi dress from JD Williams and felt really confident in it.

Let me share a birthday present with you today. My sister bought me these trousers and I loved pairing them with this old fine knit top from Phase Eight.

Darts Competition with a Shit Shirt!

Morning, or I should say evening!
Another later post.

I’ve had a really busy weekend and didn’t have any time to blog!
On Saturday I spent most of the day in the garden as the weather was being kind. We cut both front and back grass, I strimmed the back garden and David trimmed the hedge with me collecting the spoil. We’ve got three full bins and two big builders bags and plan to get a skip to get rid of it all! We have our own skip company, so that won’t be expensive. I love seeing the garden all trimmed and clipped although there’s still more hedge to work on but at least we’ve made a start.
On Saturday night we had a family darts competition. We’ve all been enjoying Thursday Night Darts, so much so we’ve all had dart boards installed. It’s been so much fun planning the evening over the past few weeks. Em and Dan really did a fantastic job, complete with banners, rules and winning cups. We had to get a shit Tee shirt, think of a name and also think of a walk on tune - can you guess what my choice was? (Here’s a clue - Wham) find out below!

Morning my friends.
How’s June going for you?

I’ve had a busy few weeks, culminating in a run of trips away to France and Cornwall. Today I’ll share my two night stay in Amiens when I shared an AirBnb with David and four friends.

The weather has been nice over the past few days and it’s been lovely to venture out without a jacket! I got back to the gym on Monday and felt great doing it. I’m starting to see the difference since losing over a stone on the Keto diet and my fitness journey is going even better than normal as exercises seem to be slightly easier weighing less!

Relaxing Skincare in Cornwall - Chic & Stylish Linkup

Morning my friends.
How’s your weekend been?

Well mine has been wonderful. I got back from a few days in Amiens on Monday and before my feet could touch the ground again I was off to Cornwall where I’m currently staying in the Pencubitt Hotel with my mum and sister.
We’re visiting my uncle who lives near Lostwithiel. It’s very remote but there’s some lovely places around so we’ll have a nice time exploring. Keep watching IG to see where I am and what I’m up to and I hope it might entice you for a little visit there. I know the weather will be changeable so I’m planning on packing a mixed bag! I need every weather system covered - fortunately we can get quite a lot in the car but I’m sure it’ll be full to the brim! 😂
It’s a girls trip so I’m taking lots of my skincare and beauty gadgets with me. I like to keep on top of my routines but sometimes some of them slip. I know all too well the importance of a decent skincare regime and have noticed a different reflection when I look in the mirror since reaching 60. I’m willing to try all the lotions and potions to improve the look and feel of my skin so I’m always on the lookout for new products. I’ve got tightening creamssmoothing lotions, serums and electrical devices which lift and rejuvenate the skin and I’ll be taking full advantage of the quiet time away where I plan to relax & unwind. The hotel is situated near Liskeard which is a beautiful village in a rural setting and the views are stunning, just right to relax in.

My previous trip last weekend was to France. I took a little capsule wardrobe with me which was based around red pieces. Today I’m sharing one of the outfits although I didn’t actually get that many photos but I’ll showing of what I did get photos of in another post.

Style not Age Share Summer Whites.

Hello and welcome to my blog.
Good to have you here my friends.

I’m back after a couple of days in Amiens with David and our good friends. We were celebrating all their 60th birthdays. They took David and me away to the Isle of Wight last year so it was our turn to surprise them!
I’ll do a dedicated post for my trip so you can hear all about it but I’ll also post on IG if you’re interested in the meantime.

It’s the last Monday of May, yeah crazy I know, so it’s time to see what the ladies from Style not Age have been up to. Our monthly challenge was set by Anna and it’s perfect  for the new season as it’s all about our …
Summer Whites.

Crochet Skirt/Waistcoat - Chic & Stylish Linkup

Good morning my friends.
How’s it going?

I’ve had such a busy few weeks, I don’t actually know if I’m coming or going! I’m away at the weekend so I’ve been getting everything sorted and in place but there’s still so much to do! I’m only away for a couple of nights and it’ll be amazing once I finally get on the train. We’re off to France with four friends, I can’t say where we’re going as they read the blog … sorry Mrs W! 😂

I’m planning a little capsule collection for the long weekend and I’m hoping the weather is nice so I can wear my new red trousers and white jacket. If you follow along on IG I’ll share my choices with you and do a detailed post next week.

Today I’m bringing my crochet piece to the game, so sharing this stunning skirt I’ve recently added to my collection.

Sharing Comfy Sandals & A Sundress.

Morning all.
Hope you’ve have a splendid week.

I’ve had a lovely, albeit very busy weekend and the next couple of weeks will be no different. I’m away next weekend and off to Cornwall the week after to visit my uncle.

I’ve had the run of birthdays last week, which started with mine. I was very spoilt by everyone with some lovely flowers, some excellent gifts and lots of sweet cards with lovely words in them. Anyone else love reading the words in cards? I’ve got a bit of a break until the next celebratory days arrive, which are spaced apart now.
On Friday it was my granddaughters 11th birthday, I can’t believe how fast the years fly by. It seems like only yesterday she was born. I also went to my ballroom class where we started learning the jive! We’ve done this one before and I have to say it’s not one of my favourites, but maybe it’s because we’re learning it slowly, which is a shame because I’ll miss the next two sessions, so will be back to square one!

On Saturday I caught up with some ironing and housework. I was on my own and managed to get loads done, and got the house nice and tidy. When David got home he came with me to the local shopping centre where I had to pick up a package from Next. David picked up a few bits in there and also in M&S, but unfortunately the jeans I’m after were still not available and as the online facility is down, I’ll have to wait until I pop in again! I’m still after those barrel leg jeans - which is a pain!

On Sunday, after helping with the AirBnb I went with the girls to my granddaughter’s birthday party. She went to a place called Elev8 which has all sorts of trampolines, games, soft play areas and an arcade. They all had a brilliant time whilst enjoying all the different areas so my girls and I managed to chat & catch up over coffee’s. After that we took them to McDonald’s which they loved. I’m very proud to say I passed on any of the fast food due to my Keto diet! I also cooked a roast when I got home complete with roasted cauliflower and vegetables. Have any of you ever tried the Keto diet?

Sun Dress, Thread Earrings & Chic & Stylish Linkup.

Hello and welcome to my blog.
It's good to have you here my friends.
Happy Birthday to me!  Yes it's my birthday today, this is 61!

How's the last few days been?
With the weather turning warmer here it's been lovely to wear some summer clothes.  I've taken full advantage of the sunshine by wearing some little Tee shirts and have picked up a little bit of colour!  The only problem is my legs are still a pasty white.  I need to get my usual tanning mousse - St Moriz which I love. It’s easy to use and is streak free and I’ve spoken about it on here before. They also have a face tanning spray which I swear by! I just give a couple of sprays on top of my makeup before I go out, it slowly builds up a nice healthy glow. X

I’ve got a cute little sun dress to share with you today. It’s a perfect style for summer holidays, or weekends away when a leisurely walk around the town or by the beach when this beautiful dress will be raising eyebrows and claim lots of charming comments.

Styling Carrot Jeans.

Good morning my friends.
How’s your weekend been?

A very quiet one for me. Worked in the garden on Saturday and did absolutely nothing on Sunday, so nothing to report!

Do you remember last week’s post?  Where I mentioned I popped into town & came home with these super trousers. They’re from M&S and replaced a pair I took back. Well actually the pair I wanted were lit of stock, but I plan on getting them when they’re back in.

So this outfit just sort of came together after I’d been playing around with styles. Do let me know what you think.

Geo Print Trousers - Chic & Stylish Linkup.

Hi there everyone.
Hope you’re well and enjoying good times.

The weeks are flying by and I hope the weather will start to improve because it’s been so cold here lately. I’ve resorted to an extra layer and have had to put the heating on at times! How’s the weather where you are?

I managed to get into town on Tuesday. I returned the barrel jeans that I felt were too big for me! Guess what! I tried the same style on but in a different colour (didn’t have the colour I wanted in my size) and they fitted perfectly. Woohoo I can get into a 10!! So I was going to order them online! Unfortunately M&S have had a major problem with their system being hacked so aren’t taking any online orders. I’m not impressed at all - especially as I’m still waiting for a birthday present to arrive! I’ve had no contact with them, so plan on trying to ring or email them tomorrow! Have you got caught up with online orders that are affected by hackers?
So I’m going to have to try my local branch to see if they’ve got any in my size. I did managed to find another gorgeous pair which are white and a carrot style and feel great in them - they’re also a size 10! Watch out for those my friends.

Today I wanted to share a look I adore to wear. My IG post featuring it has the title “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it” which is just how I feel about this one. Wide leg trousers, denim jacket over a tee shirt and comfy flats, what’s not to like!

April Review.

Hello and welcome to my blog.
How’s your bank holiday weekend been?

I love having extra time with the family, & this one has been brilliant. I’ve not done much though so it’s been nice to enjoy some down time without having to rush around like I normally do.
I’m sad to say I didn’t manage to get into town to change the barrel leg trousers, so I’m planning on going tomorrow! I’m interested to see if there’s some new styles in the shops and maybe I’ll come home with something new to share. I fancy another pair of Mary Jane shoes, possibly in white or black. I’ve seen these online but will see if I can try some on before I buy. Fingers crossed I find some.

So nice to have you here today and you’re in time to read about last month for the April Review.

At the start of April I was having fun styling some Spring dresses. I’m a big fan of wearing dresses so marvelled at the next one which had my name all over it.
I just need a special occasion for it now!

Styling linen trousers - Chic & Stylish Linkup.

Good morning my friends.
Hope you’re having a brilliant first day of the new month.

Another busy week and I’ve been trying to get into town to change a pair of trousers. There always seems to be something else to do! Anyway, I’ll let you know how I get on next Monday. Oh and don’t forget as it’s the first Monday of the month it’ll be time to review April!

So you all know I’ve been following a Keto diet since January, well I’m pleased as punch to say I’ve now lost a stone! I can’t even say it’s been hard work because with the meals David and I have prepared - it’s been okay. I’ve been allowed Prosecco as long as it’s included in my calories and have had the odd cheat when I’ve eaten cakes and sweets along with some bread etc when I’ve had a takeaway curry. But wow wee when I’ve been scanning piccys I’ve really noticed how well I’ve done. Not only that I feel so much healthier, my tummy is happier and my fitness has improved no end! I’m more or less at a weight I want to try to maintain and one of the main reasons is some saggy skin that’s become quite noticeable! I’m conscious of it but am too nervous to have anything major done so for the time being I’ll try to stay like this!

When I popped to my local supermarket yesterday I had a quick look around the clothes section and along with a couple of other pieces I like, spotted these fab casual trousers. At only £19 I figured they were a great price so popped them into my basket - in a smaller size I might add! Imagine the joy when I tried them on at home and they looked like this. I felt amazing in them and really wanted to share just how different I reckon I look, do let me know what you think (scroll for photo)!

Style not Age say Yes to the Dress!

Good morning everyone.
How are you?

I’m doing okay and have had a super weekend.
It was David’s birthday yesterday so we had the family round. We also welcomed some family and friends throughout the day to celebrate with us with a couple of drinks to boot. We’d decided on having some tapas so David and my youngest daughter Sophie went to the supermarket to buy ingredients to prepare the following delicious dishes! Meatballs in spicy tomato sauce, chorizo & peppers in sherry sauce, tortilla (with and without potato) spicy garlic king prawns, hummus and flat bread, mushrooms in garlic butter and a tasty salad which consisted of peppers, cucumber, red cabbage, spring onions & parsley with a dressing of orange juice, white wine vinegar and olive oil. This was topped with pomegranate seeds and was truly delicious. It really brought everything together and the meal was devoured and I must add enjoyed by all the family!

Today is the last Monday of the month and I’m not sure how that happened, however it’s time to welcome Hilda, Emma and Anna to the stage to share their looks for Style not Age which are based around the prompt  ….

Say yes to the Dress.

This beautiful pink maxi has my name written all over it.

Another Spring Dress from Izabel.

Good morning.
How are you?
Well this week just ran away from me, I’ve woken up today and realised no blog post!
So here’s a hasty catch, up with stunning spring dress to share.
Yesterday was my eldest daughter’s birthday. We popped over to see her and had a couple of drinks to celebrate but came home early to have dinner, so that was a quiet affair. Today I’ve a couple of errands to run and then I’m looking after Max as his mum and dad are out this afternoon seeing a show in London. I hope the weather improves as he loves playing in the garden. We might go to the park if it’s warmer - as there more to do and again, he loves it.
I went into town on Saturday to change a couple of bits. I’m trying to find the best pair of barrel leg trousers and after finding some from Next but thinking they’re a tad snug, took them back & found another pair in M&S. They’ve come up great but have quite a baggy section on the back which I don’t like. I might take some photos to see how they look but maybe change them for a smaller size! My Keto diet has really worked as I’m a stone lighter and possibly getting into a size 10, albeit from Marks & Spencer which offer generous sizes, but I’m taking it!

So today I’m sharing a stylish maxi from Izabel London.
I’ve added items to dress it up and make it suitable for Spring dressing when the weather is still cold.

Spring Maxi Dress from Izabel.

Good morning, thanks for joining me on Easter Bank Holiday Monday.
I do hope you’ve had a super long weekend, I certainly have!

After a really busy week, the weekend was hectic too!
I keep waiting for things to die down, but there’s always something by to do! Are you the same?
Friday went quickly ending with my usual ballroom class. We finished learning a tango routine and it’s another I fell I love with. In the afternoon I went to my nephew’s house to enjoy a birthday celebration for his little boy, it’s nice to share time with my sister and her family and we took full advantage of catching up with my nieces and nephews.

Saturday morning was a bit of a nightmare, well I got myself up and ready early and had planned to go into town to change a couple of bits. I’d been so occupied with making sure I’d got change of clothes for working at my MIL’s house and also planning the food for the following day I managed to forget the bits I was going to take back!! Yes I had to return home to collect said items and head back into town! I was furious with myself! I keep doing silly things like this and am worried I might have a problem! Anyone else do stupid things like this?

On Sunday after a clean at the Airbnb, I prepared food for our roast turkey dinner. Eighteen of us enjoyed a roast with all the trimmings and I put my diet on hold devouring everything I shouldn’t! I certainly paid for it in the evening as my tummy wasn’t happy at all! There’s something to be said for following a certain diet and veering off piste isn’t as good as it seems to be. I’m back on the diet today and am starting to feel much better. The diet I’m following is keto which means no carbs, I included potatoes, roasted parsnips and various vegetables, some of which do have carbohydrates in them. Let’s not mention the chocolates and cakes I picked at though, if I don’t mention them then maybe I didn’t have them! 😂
Today, will be a quiet one and although I’ve not planned dinner, it’ll definitely be keto friendly. Are you following a diet and did you go off plan over the holiday weekend?

Hi everyone.

Collared Jumper with my Denim Skirt.

Good morning everyone.
How are you?

Did you have a good weekend? I’ve had another hectic one! Well Saturday was very busy! I was painting ceilings! The family are getting my MIL’s house ready to sell so there’s a few little bits and pieces that need doing before it’s put on the market. It was a hot day so once I’d finished that I came home to do some gardening. I cut both front and back grass and strimmed the edges as well. I also did some weeding, giving special attention to an area I’ve decided to use for taking photos - I fancy getting something like trellis or a mirror and some pots with tall plants in. It’s sort of a rockery area and might work well for taking shots! I’ll keep you informed about that one.
On Sunday after helping my daughter do an AirBnb clean I spread some weed killer. There’s an area in front of our house that draws loads of weeds and every year one or other of us weeds it for it to grow again! I vow this year to keep on top of it and get the weeds under control, let’s see how that pans out! 😂

With the weather being so nice lately, I’ve actually even wearing some outfits more apt for Spring. Today’s look is an easy to wear feminine and casual look featuring this fabulous little top.

Giveaway win - Chic & Stylish Linkup

Good morning everyone.
How’s it going?

Another busy week after a busy weekend.
I went to my grandson’s birthday party on Monday evening - he had a roller-skating party and guess who just had to have a go? Yep me! It’s been many, many years since I donned a pair of skates and I did wonder if it was a silly thing to do, but I did it anyway. I put the boots on and immediately felt like I would fall over so I grabbed onto the side and carefully slid my way along till I got into the arena. Still I didn’t give up and gingerly pulled myself around the rink holding on all the time. The kids whizzed past me egging me on, but I didn’t leave the side. I did a couple more laps letting go at various times and grabbing onto the side again to steady myself. By the fourth circle I’d made some progress, actually letting go and trying to go round corners with a bit more elegance. By lap five I decided to take my boots off and quit while I was ahead. I didn’t want to tempt fate and hurt myself. But I’m pleased I decided to give it a go and promised to go again when my daughter takes the kids! Fingers crossed that goes well too! 🤞

March Review

Morning my friends.
Hope you are well.

April has arrived and the weather has stayed nice here.  Still quite chilly at times and especially in the evening - but if you can find a nice little sheltered spot the sun is quite warm and soothing.  I've been embracing a slightly more Spring like look with my outfits and have been wearing jackets when I've just been popping out to run errands.  Anything like walking along the beach or being outside for longer stretches still calls for a coat or thicker jacket.  I'm excited to share a new one with you on Thursday, it was part of a competition win and I'm elated with the fashionable leopard print classic and it's been on repeat since I got it!

The weekend seemed to fly by - well actually the week did too!  What with my three gym classes, swimming session and two dance classes the days have been filled!  It's our turn to have the wave of birthdays and last weekend there were two!  I popped over to see one of my grandsons on Friday evening.  He attends a karate class and it was a nice treat for me to watch him!  He, along with his sister loved to show off what they could do in the session which was 45 mins long and it's a brilliant way to teach discipline, fitness and have fun at the same time.  When it was finished I quickly rushed over to enjoy my ballroom class.  We learnt a new routine which was a Tango - I managed to grasp the steps and was lucky enough to show the rest of the class whilst it was being filmed.  We can watch the routine on our phones so we can practise at home in order to be ready for the next class!

Saturday was spent with Sophie (the baker) and Emily.  We went to a local school that was holding a Sci Spy Comic Con event.  It's all about characters in films like Star Wars, Ghost Busters, Marvel characters and other Sci Fy people (you might have seen my IG stories) and Sophie was asked if she’d like to have a cake stall there. She took loads of cakes and bakes to the local event where her cake stall was a great success.  She sold so many cakes and tray bakes along with cake jars - yes cake, jam or chocolate and cream in a jar!  They are delicious and a lovely alternative to a cake that can get dry when left in a tin!  These don't last long and I had to use lots of self control so's not to hinder my Keto diet!

I raced home once it was finished to get ready for a night out with friends.  We went for a few drinks and to have a curry.  I was really happy with that meal because since dieting I'd not had my favourite takeaway!  I was very good and only had a small amount of rice (no carbs on Keto) and managed to eat all the chicken patia.  We had side dishes too, a cauliflower and mushroom bhaji - which are both our favourites, we scoffed nearly all of it!

Sunday was fairly quiet.  The second birthday of the weekend  - which was Freddie's. We celebrated at his house with nearly all the family before returning home for an early night.  School holidays for the next couple of weeks so it'll be great to spend time with the grandkids.  We’re planning a trip to the woods, possibly to a Wildlife park or maybe a trip to the cinema.

So shall we get back to today's post?  It's a new month so time for the .....

Spring Floral from Izabel - Chic & Stylish Linkup

Welcome dear readers.
Thanks for being here today.

Hello April.
After a busy weekend, it’s been a busy beginning of the new month. I’ve got so much planned so along with birthdays, blogging, photo taking and shopping I’m going to be a very busy bee!
On Sunday it was Mother’s Day as you might well know. I was feeling a bit jaded after a late night and few too many glasses, but I can tell you I was completely spoilt with gorgeous cards and some lovely gifts, but what makes it even more special is being with all the kids along with my mum!

I’ve finally ordered some new trainers.  I’ve wanted a pair in a mink brown so am waiting for them to arrive (should be today). I’m not too obsessed with having named trainers, I prefer to have something that’s good quality and look right so these from M & S should be just right! I’ll let you know how I get on!

I’ve got a stunning dress to share with you today. If you’ve got plans for a special occasion like a wedding or christening, I’ve got you covered! Check out this beautiful chiffon maxi, it’s got all the elements you need to get noticed, but not take all the limelight. You’ll want something that’s fairly classic and quite modest. A maxi or midi is a good choice and something that’s a modest fit is ideal.

Style not Age Wear Their Greens!

Good morning my friends.
Hope you’re well.

It’s the last Monday of March so it’s time to see what the ladies from Style not Age have been choosing for our latest monthly challenge.

I set this month’s challenge and having noticed green will be popular for the new season I opted for the prompt …
Wear Your Greens.

I had a wonderful weekend  & it was quite busy, so went very quickly.  Saturday was spent doing a few chores and then looked after three of my grandkids whilst their mum and dad watched a local football match where my eldest granddaughter, Amelia was a mascot, she had an amazing time and fortunately Whitstable won!  It was a quick change when I got home as we were out to dinner at our good friends house.  It was for a 60th celebration and we all had a lovely time dining on Steak with salad followed by a delicious cheese board.  As you would imagine I had a few glasses of champagne followed by one of my favourite wines which is a rose wine from Spain.  It's a dreamy pale rose wine that's got a slight fizz to it.  I've enjoyed many a bottle when holidaying in L'Escala over the years, and I've now found a site that sells it in the UK!

On Sunday after a long lie-in I finally got myself ready to enjoy time with the kids.  My son came round as he couldn't join us for a takeaway in the evening.  He bought me a sweet card which had lovely words on it.  I'm a sucker for receiving cards and love the personal words my kids always put in them.  Four more from the others followed - all with equally as touching words inside.  They got me a joint present and I was elated to receive a fab little clutch bag to replace the jaded version I've been using recently.  It's from Fiorelli and the leather pouch bag is just what I've been wanting.  I also got a bottle of Prosecco, a lovely candle that smells amazing, a gorgeous bouquet of flowers, a treat box from Little Berry Bakes along with a tasty Chinese takeaway, which we all tucked into.  My mum came as well and enjoyed being with the family as much as I did!  Once I’d dropped her home I relaxed on the sofa and had a very cheeky chocolate cookie that was from the selection of goodies in the cake box. What a lucky lady I am. 🤍
