Hen Weeken - Chic & Stylish Linkup.

Good morning my friends. 

Wow, what a busy few weeks that’s been!

I vastly underestimated how busy my weeks would be. I thought I’d have plenty of time to blog, but unfortunately having fun with family & friends took over! 😉 So there’s been no Link up for a week or so. 

Since my last post on the 7th July, I’ve been to Sicily with David to celebrate our 40th Wedding Anniversary and the following weekend I’ve spent in Salou for my youngest daughter’s hen weekend. 

Sophie is my youngest daughter and she gets married in August. I’m elated for her but have to admit to being a little sad as she’s the last to leave home and it’ll be a big wrench for David and I. We’ve been SO lucky to have had lots of the kids at home for many years - unlike David and I who got married at 22! We’ve just celebrated our ruby wedding anniversary and I’ll be sharing a post about our weekend in Sicily and all the celebrations with you soon!

So back to last weekend. Emily and Victoria, my other daughters, created a very memorable weekend in Spain for Sophie. All her friends contributed to the celebrations along with friends and family that were included. We traveled to Spain early on Saturday morning and found ourselves in a fab little hotel nestled in the middle of Salou town. It was near the nightlife, bars and restaurants & had the beach only a short walk away too. My girls had planned everything perfectly. What to wear, who was sharing with who, where to eat, what we were doing etc etc. 

After the early start we were all quite jaded, so appreciated the afternoon by the pool enjoying the sunshine with a few drinks. The weather was superb so a dip in the pool was much appreciated!

That evening we were eating in the hotel. We knew we were all wearing pink and everyone congregated by the lifts to greet Sophie and surprise her with our outfits. 

I’d found this pretty Adrianna Papell dress on Vinted and knew it would be perfect for me. It’s a halter style midi made from a pretty cerise and gold fabric that’s quite like a chiffon. It’s got a pretty ruffle on the hem and fits nicely giving a really feminine silhouette. Isn’t it nice when you find something that just works. 👏

I’ve seen this dress that’s similar incase you fancy getting it for yourself. 🩷

We had so much fun in the Salou centre making cocktails in a bar near the beach. It was still so hot and the cold drinks were greatly appreciated. We all had the opportunity to make one and I chose a Porn Star Martini. I’m sure you’d have know that would be my choice, it’s my favourite cocktail. The night was fantastic! Everyone relished making the fancy drinks and enjoyed drinking them even more. Once we’d shaken our last blends we headed to another venue, which was a short walk up the road, to enjoy a night of drinks and dancing with a singer tribute act thrown in. There was lots of dancing, both on and off stage, plenty of laughter, especially when we were all trying to sing along but the atmosphere was electric. Such a great night was had before heading home, but not before a cheeky burger my friends. 

The next day arrived very quick can say! I felt so tired after the early morning departure the day before and the late night, but carried on regardless. So after breakfast, which was at a reasonable hour, we took a coach to have a fun afternoon on a catamaran on the med. 

We were all asked to wear black swimwear. I picked this swimsuit which was actually quite alright. I usually feel uncomfortable in a one piece swimsuit but this fitted nicely and felt great too. I’d picked up a jumpsuit in George at Asda, and the off-the-shoulder short set worked brilliantly. 

Returning home I went to my room for a cool shower & little siesta. The sea air really got to me and I felt exhausted. I thought going out in the evening without having any rest would have been a bad idea, and how right I was. The sleep worked wonders. I got myself ready after a shower, and got my makeup on and hair done fairly quickly. It’s hard to get ready when you’re so hot and it wasn’t too long before my hair was put up in a clip again!

Anyone else can’t stand the extreme heat now?

The evening arrived and after we’d eaten in the hotel restaurant we headed down to get drinks for the table we’d found in a secluded area where we could do a few games. These are fun and one was hilarious. One of the girls had arranged one that featured each lady as a male tinder possibility - this was so funny and we were in fits of laughter. The bride-to-be loved it too and before long we’d finished and headed out to a karaoke bar! More fun and laughter followed - especially when hardly any of us could sing!! 🫣😬

Sunday was the final of the World Cup and as Spain won the atmosphere was absolutely amazing. People in the streets laughing, and enjoying themselves, car horns beeping, flags waving, vuvuzela’s being blown everywhere it was a remarkable setting. I will forever remember where I was when Spain won the cup!

Monday was another quiet day. Some went to the beach and had tapas - others, including me, stayed around the pool. It was nice to chill and chat along with a dip or two in the pool. Now it’s known that whenever a Berry is in Spain it rains! True to form we had a massive thunderstorm with huge raindrops pouring down. We were worried the beach front bar where we’d arranged desserts and cocktails whilst watching the sunset would be a washout but fortunately the clouds cleared and the sunset appeared - hooray. 

We returned to the hotel via a couple of shops and another cocktail with more laughter mixed in. We had a super crowd with everyone getting along nicely it really was a super weekend. 

The journey home was bittersweet I’d had a super time away, but wanted to come home to see David and the rest of the family. There’s been plenty of photos being shared and we’ve created some special memories for not only the bride but everyone else who traveled to Spain too. X
