Style Not Age Dress for the Heat.

Morning everyone.
How are you?

Wow hasn’t it been a scorcher here in the uk! We’ve really been having some Mediterranean weather here, just a shame for everyone going about their daily work and chores. All I’ve wanted to do is sit by the pool with a cocktail in my hand, shame I’ve haven’t got a pool, or cocktail maker in sight!!

We had a family bbq yesterday and enjoyed some tasty treats. David did the bbq, it’s always a man’s job isn’t it! He did end up with a burnt tummy after cooking all the burgers, sausages, chicken, kofte’s - and king prawns on skewers, which were marinated in garlic and chillies, along with a few tasty salads made by my daughter Sophie. She did a Greek salad, two potato salads, pasta salad and burrata salad, which was delicious by the way, and lots of little extras. The diet went flying out the window and everything was washed down with a few proseccos! The weather was incredible and we had to pop the sprinkler on for the kids to run around in! I admit to joining them for a cool down which they loved & thought was very funny. Family time is the best isn’t it.
In the evening, after a cool shower I settled down to watching the last night of Glastonbury. I’ve mixed feelings about this annual event and although I’d LOVE to go feel I’d hate it at the same time. Queueing, being too hot (or cold or wet), camping - not for me, being pinched and shoved and having to find everything as it’s so vast sounds awful. But the atmosphere, well having spoken to many people who’ve been is amazing. So maybe one day I’ll go, maybe glamping would be my vibe! 😂

Anyhow, back to today’s topic, it’s time for Style not Age to take to the stage and our prompt this month is set by Hilda so we are … Dressing for the Heat.

Items marked with * have been gifted to me, however these are 100% my own honest comments.

Have you been embracing hot weather? We’ve been lucky enough to be hot, hot, hot over the past few weeks although intermittent with windy days but on the whole it’s been lovely.  So hot weather attire has been on the books for me with lightweight clothes like linen blend trousers and little racer tops and sandals. Over the weekend it’s been even hotter so I donned my shorts and little tee shirts for working in the garden and knocking about in and this outfit was one I wore to the shops and dropped the duster when I got home.

I knew I’d reach for my long shirt dress/duster * for this challenge as it’s just the best choice for covering up when it’s too hot! We all know the importance of sunscreen when it’s so hot but sometimes just putting a long sleeved long dress like this is so much better. Shading our skin and ourselves is such a good choice to protect from the sun’s harmful rays isn’t it. This is a cotton-viscose dress that’s midi calf length and has long sleeves for optimum coverage and it feels really cool on. It’s a button down the front shirt dress which has a complimentary tie belt which worked nicely round the handle of my basket bag! Priced at a reasonable £32.50 this beauty is a must for your holiday case for sure.
Be sure to use my discount code JACQUI15 for discount at checkout via the * link above.

So the cami top and shorts are basically staples from my wardrobe and cost bare minimum. These are the type of items I buy every couple of years and buy a few colours of each. They are always included in my holiday case and always wash and wear well! We all want easy items for the Summer don’t we!
Did you see my fab earrings too? They were a birthday gift from a friend and she got my look spot on! I’m all for the bold statement earrings or necklace and it just so happened that these stunning star fish beauties matched, colour wise, my layered necklace. A really good match don’t you think?

We all want comfort shoes for summer don’t we. Well actually sandals really. I’ve got a big selection ranging from heels to mules and sliders with these chunky soles flat forms proving a really fashionable addition. You can read all about the Xena here.
You must have seen this basket bag plenty of times on the blog and today is no exception. I like to add something or other to this versatile bag and today I wrapped the tie belt that goes with my long shirt dress around the handles, it’s a statement addition and looks great don’t you think?

Let’s take a look at what my three friends chose.

First up it’s Hilda who picked the prompt for us.
You can read all about Hilda’s outfit on her blog Over the Hilda. She’s looking very cool in her Primark/Penneys dress and Clarks mules. One I’d wear in a heatwave too.

Emma - Style Splash opted for this striking coverup from Miss Tunica. It’s a perfect addition for the beach I agree Emma xx

Anna’s - Anna’s Island Style look is based around a dress she bought in a charity shop for a fiver, this Me & Em dress was made for her don’t you agree?

Thanks so much for joining me today, I’m so grateful to have you here. Let me know your thoughts on today’s outfit.
Until Thursday, have a fab week.
Cheerio. X
