What to wear to the Races- #Chicandstylish #LINKUP

Morning my friends.
Are you doing well and staying sane being stuck indoors?
We all seem to be going a bit stir crazy in mine, fortunately we have a big garden where the kids can play to there hearts content, but they are still wanting needing to be getting back to some sort of normality.  It's hard to explain why they can't go the school, after-school clubs and have friends over for play dates.  I can only imagine how hard it is for families stuck in flats with no garden to enjoy - I feel for them.
One thing I am enjoying at the moment is cooking for a larger family. (My daughter and family are living with us). Normally I've only two kids at home both of whom often do their own thing, I'm relishing the fact I can cook for six again, although I've had to adjust everything and it's almost like learning from scratch.  To keep a routine we've been planning our meals in advance which has made a big difference, I don't want to be shopping all the time like I usually do, so with our proper menus I know just what to buy - it's made it a whole lot easier.
Some of our meals were: Spicy Prawns, Chicken & Mushroom Pie, Roast Lamb, Meatballs with Spaghetti & Stir Fry.  I'm not even going to think about their house being finished and them moving out!  I'll be going through the empty nest tears all over again!

Let's do a little daydreaming shall we?  These photos taken over three weeks ago are literally the last photos I have to use.  I'm hoping one of the children will take more for me. 🤞
I bought this dress for a party back in January, but opted for another so this was holed up in the wardrobe ready to be worn at the drop of a hat.  Don't you think it would be perfect for a day at the races?  Well let's imagine that's where I'm off to all dressed up in my glamorous dress.

We all know you can't go wrong with a little black dress and there's always room for one more in my wardrobe.  This beauty is from Julien Macdonald in Debenhams, but as it was in the sale it's no longer available.  It's an elegant lace number that fits snug to the body, sits mid calf with an under-skirt sitting just above the knee leaving a see through section that's chic and alluring.

With interesting gold rivets dotted symmetrically across the bodice and mid way down the skirt which are so exquisite. Just as striking are the detailed gold rings around the hem & sleeves with a double row around the waist giving great definition.

Here's the detailing up close of the heavy lace dress which feels amazing to wear - I love everything about this sophisticated dress.
I wore my black ankle strap sandals that have a block heel and dainty pointed toe.
Pale pink accessories by way of this box clutch bag really complete the feminine feel, along with my flirty clip in fascinator which is a very pale pink too.

  3. Jacqui, this dress is so cool! And it looks amazing on you. What beautiful details on it. Taking the little black dress up a few notches. I hope you can get your kids to take some photos for you. I love seeing your style even if the pictures are just in your own yard!

  4. Tht's a beautiful statement dress! I like all the extra details on it :)

It's nice you can all be together for isolation. Hubby was just saying to me the other day, imagine if this had all happened last year, before we moved to this place with the big yard and the trampoline and a separate office instead of an open plan unit, haha! We are lucky indeed.

    Thanks for the link up!

Hope that your week is going well :) I'm looking forward to the Easter break, even though we will be staying at home! :)

  19. I love the heavy lace-that is a great dress! I understand the cooking thing. I've been going crazy with soups. I think because beans, potatoes, onions and broth are all good long storage things that I bought enough to get me through a siege. Take care and stay safe

  20. That dress is gorgeous! I'd say super important cocktail party material! It sounds like you are enjoying your full house. We try to have our son stop by for dinner as he still has to work so there is lots of handwashing and no touching, but at least we get to see him! Take care, Jacqui.

  22. Wow, Jacqui, you are SMOKIN' in that dress! I would wear that in a heartbeat - you can see the quality of it. I bet it has good weight on.

Well, thank you so much for the link and photo - that's so sweet!

I am missing my friends and family so much - we are dealing with one of my friends being very ill with cancer and not being able to see her, so it's just an extra layer on top of all the pandemic stuff. It's been really hard.

However, this dress cheers me no end! Thank you - and thank you for hosting the link-up. I am happy to join in!

  25. This is such a beautiful dress. I love all the details that elevate it. The lace details on the top are so lovely and the belted high waist is chic. A black dress is always an elegant choice. I also like the pink dress you wore with it. You look stunning.

It is good you're able to be with your family during this situation. I only have my husband with me and we aren't able to see anyone else- but at least we have one another.
