My Damart Co-Ord - Chic & Stylish Linkup

Morning all.
Hope you’ve had a super week.

Seems I’m coming down with a cough and cold! There’s been a lot about recently so it was always going to happen! It’s not too bad but more annoying really.

I’ve had a good few days, still busy but all okay. I took my young grandson EKarting on Tuesday. It’s what he wanted for a birthday present and wanted me to take him. It was so nice having one-to-one time with him and we had a nice laugh. He throughly enjoyed the karting and was very talented. He came first which he was thrilled about. I watched from the side lines, slightly tempted to have a go myself but didn’t in the end. From the Karting track we headed over to McDonald’s for a burger before heading home. I love my little outings and can’t wait for the next one with my granddaughter. You might remember her’s is the day after mine which is next month.

Yesterday, after my two gym classes, and a quick visit to my mums, I returned home to the front room carpet being cleaned. I hope it stays nice for the foreseeable, but I fear previous stains often make a re-appearance, so I’ll be keeping an eye on that. I cooked a lovely Italian lamb dish for our dinner last night, it’s slow cooked in white wine, carrots, celery and onion, with stock and some fresh tomatoes. I served it with new potatoes, runner beans and asparagus, it was really very tasty and went down a storm with hubby, do let me know if you’d like the recipe!

Today’s outfit is going to be one of those all-round winners. The co-ord is such a striking shade of blue it’s perfect for Spring and Summer!

Navy & White with a Padded Jacket - Chic & Stylish Linkup

Hi there everyone.
How are you?

Another busy week with Shrove Tuesday in the middle of it. We had to have pancakes on Tuesday, so some of the kids came round to enjoy them too. Sophie made a huge pot of batter and after our dinner of spicy meatballs and pasta David set about making them. He made probably about 20! We all had different toppings but can you guess what I had? My favourite additions are banana and caramel which was divine. I only had one even though he’d made so many but to be honest that one was enough. We had other options like chocolate sauce, biscoff, kinder chocolate along with the basic favourite lemon and sugar. What’s your topping of choice?

I took a trip into town too. My eldest granddaughter came with me, she loves having a wander around the shops, just like me, including New Look, Primark, Boots and Superdrug. It’s actually a shame there aren’t many stores suitable for an 11 year old but she did find a pretty long sleeve top that came home with her. I heard in the news the re-opening of Top Shop. I’m thrilled that an old favourite is returning to the high street and pray many others will follow. I also asked Amelia if she preferred shopping in shops or online and she said the former. I’m excited as that’s what I would choose. Let’s hope high street shops continue to return so that buying online won’t be the norm! How do you like to shop?

Chat GPT - Chic & Stylish Linkup

Morning all.
What have you been up to since we last spoke?

You can let me know by adding your posts to the linkup below. I love to hear what you’ve been up to!

I’ve been busy with the family and gym/dance classes. I’ve also been helping in the new house and it’s coming along nicely. We’re almost ready to welcome the plasterers to work on the top two floors which is so exciting.
I’ve yet to buy anything for Spring. I’m waiting until the shops have an abundance to new stuff before I venture in. Have you bought anything new yet?

I’ve been having a play around with Chat GPT and got involved the latest craze. Have you heard of the app and have you used it?

Neutrals - Chic & Stylish Link Up.

Hello and welcome to my blog.
Hope you’re doing well.

It’s been another busy week in the Mummabstylish household with a trip to London interspersed with gym visits and visits from the kids. I’ve been lucky enough to visit a fantastic venue in London for the Damart AW25 preview event - the post will follow soon!

Today, with not much to report I thought I’d show an outfit I wore the other day but it’s a weather dependent outfit for obvious reasons.
I love the neutral shades and often can be found donning outfits like this either wearing trousers, skirts or jeans.
Now I know creamy shades can be a bit marmite but I still reckon they look timeless and can create classic styles. Do you ever wear neutrals like this?

New Cropped Jeans - Chic & Stylish Linkup.

Hiya, how are you?
*Late Edit*
Sorry I’m a day late, I had some technical issues, all resolved now!

It’s been a busy few weeks for me what with helping paint my son’s new house, looking after some of the grandkids and attending gym classes it’s been full on!
I’m sure getting older doesn’t help either, I feel I need a holiday!
I had to change a something in Matalan yesterday so I had a look around the store hoping to see some new styles, alas they’ve not arrived yet so I had a look through the sale rail. I came home with a nice pair of cropped jeans that I plan to take up to have a big turn up on them. They only cost £8.50 so if it doesn’t work it’s no big loss but I’ll still wear them. I also got a chunky turtle neck sleeveless jumper. It looked okay on and I plan to wear it over shirts. I’ll see how that feels as sometimes knitted jumpers make me itch!

So here’s my look today, I’ve popped the jeans on before taking them up but I like the relaxed look with flats and this chunky vest top.

Giveaway win - Chic & Stylish Linkup

Good morning everyone.
How’s it going?

Another busy week after a busy weekend.
I went to my grandson’s birthday party on Monday evening - he had a roller-skating party and guess who just had to have a go? Yep me! It’s been many, many years since I donned a pair of skates and I did wonder if it was a silly thing to do, but I did it anyway. I put the boots on and immediately felt like I would fall over so I grabbed onto the side and carefully slid my way along till I got into the arena. Still I didn’t give up and gingerly pulled myself around the rink holding on all the time. The kids whizzed past me egging me on, but I didn’t leave the side. I did a couple more laps letting go at various times and grabbing onto the side again to steady myself. By the fourth circle I’d made some progress, actually letting go and trying to go round corners with a bit more elegance. By lap five I decided to take my boots off and quit while I was ahead. I didn’t want to tempt fate and hurt myself. But I’m pleased I decided to give it a go and promised to go again when my daughter takes the kids! Fingers crossed that goes well too! 🤞

Life Lately - Chic & Stylish Linkup.

Evening everyone.
Sorry I’m so late with this post, I have no excuses I plain forgot!
Out last night, yes on a school night and didn’t get home till late so no time to blog! I went with David to our good friend’s 60th birthday celebration. We went to a local restaurant that served a selection of mixed tapas. I’m really pleased that was the food choice because I’m following the Keto diet there’s a lot I could eat! I nibbled on charcuterie, baked Camembert cheese, pickles, olives and a tasty chorizo which came in a hot sauce. I declined the Spanish omelette and missed the chicken dish but I was stuffed so it didn’t matter! I had a few glasses of fizz and as I took it easy didn’t wake with a fuzzy head!

Tea Dress - Chic & Stylish Linkup

Hiya, how are you today?
Has your week gone well?

Been a slower few days after a busy weekend. Time to collect my thoughts and start planning for the “Summer” I’ll use the term loosely as I doubt it’ll be the summer I or anyone else wants if I’m honest! Because it was so hectic for me Mondays post was rather late! You can read about my weekend and see the beautiful dress I wore here, I hope you’ll pop back for a browse.

We did have a little sunshine yesterday and it felt quite hot, but the sun was interrupted by clouds every so often, it’s such funny weather in the UK isn’t it!

You remember all the kerfuffle with my gym instructor leaving, well I’ve been trying out some different classes as they’ve all been switched around! Until yesterday I’d been trying Body Attack followed by Spin, but a friend suggested I have a go at Fight Club. The name has always put me off as I prefer more of a dance style class, but gave in and tried it! I loved it! I borrowed some gloves (the worst bit, because they smelt awful), so I’ll need to buy my own and very soon! Lots of jabbing, punching, uppercuts and body shots combined with star jumps, squats and jogging on the spot and the class was soon over! I’ve booked again for next week and hopefully I’ll have my own gloves by then!

A Casual Khaki and Cream Column Dress - #Chicandstylish #Linkup

Hi there my friends.
Nice to have you stop by today.

I’ve had a lovely week so far with a cuppa and cake catch up with two good friends and a day out shopping with my sister today. We always used to go shopping together, but with big families of our own and the lack of any decent shops in towns nowadays it’s been hard to get together. I’ll let you know if I come home with any purchases!

I do have a casual dress to share with you today though. I popped into my local M & S a couple of Saturday’s ago and came home with this one and a blue floral midi (will share that with you next week).  I took my eldest granddaughter with me too and we had a super couple of hours checking out the shops and it was especially nice to browse Boots and Claire’s Accessories (I don’t usually go in them) looking at the beauty products, hair accessories and jewellery, and she came home with a few nice bits too!

How to wear Loafers - #Chicandstylish #LINKUP

Morning my friends.
Hope you’re well.

Wow November, you seem to have arrived way too early.
It seems only last week I was wishing for Summer to arrive, well that didn’t really happen did it!

I'm still working on the post from my mum's 90th birthday festivities, so for today I thought I'd share an outfit I wore earlier this week.  It's based around my gifted loafers and I'd love to know what you think of it.

I wanted to show off the shoes to their full potential so picked these peg style trousers rather than my favourites ... my black wide leg trousers.  I've had these for a while and have a love - hate relationship with them.  One time I enjoy putting them on and love the way they look, other times I think they look awful - what do you think?

Slip Skirt with Trainers - #Chicandstylish #LINKUP

Hi there,
How are you?

All good with me, I'm off shopping this morning. I’ve not been for a while, but don’t anticipate coming home with anything as quite honestly the shops are naff locally. I long for the old days when there was an abundance of stores to joyfully spend the day exploring every part of them. I remember saving birthday, Christmas and chore money and have a day spending it all, those days seem long gone and most shopping is done online, somewhat takes the excitement out of the whole experience doesn’t it!  Do you prefer to shop personally or do it all online?
What are your local stores and boutiques like?
I’m really enjoying gym classes atm, and really feel I’m moving up a level. My legs having been killing me over the past few classes, I think I’m probably working harder so I’m bound to feel achy eh! It seems my body is gradually getting used to it though and slowly changing shape. Something I’m after is some new gym wear, I’ve got a couple of old favourites that I rotate and need to add to them, let’s hope I return with some cute bits.
I’ve got a busy few days with a friends birthday Afternoon Tea, a celebratory meal with all the family for my mum’s 90th birthday and on Sunday we’re celebrating my daughters birthday with a big tapas style dinner (everyone brings something they’ve cooked so we can all dig in)! I’m all over this kind of meal and get to enjoy all the tasty offerings everyone brings.
I’ve got a dress on order for the dinner on Saturday night and I’m praying it will not only fit but look alright too … it’s got a big split up the front leg, so will have to see what it looks like.  It’s a sultry shade of blue and my favourite midi length. I’ve got some pretty shoes and matching bag to wear with it, so all being well I’ll let you see it next week!

I have to admit to being a little disappointed with myself and a skirt I recently purchased.  It’s part of my capsule wardrobe and looked okay in the shop, however I put it on the other day and am really not convinced it’s me!  It’s not a style I feel confident wearing so I’m going to try and exchange it today, although it’s past the date on the receipt so I’ll have to see … I’ll let you know how I get on, but you can see for yourself and let me know what you think about the bias cut slip skirt I bought. X

36 Years, How Did That Happen? - #Chicandstylish #LINKUP

Hi there,
It's been another busy week for me, well I'm away on Saturday to Rhodes and I've been getting everything sorted with lots of lists laying around so I don't forget anything.

On Tuesday it was Mine and David's 36th Wedding Anniversary.  If you were quick and had eagle eye's you'd have seen the big mistake I made on Monday's post I put 34 years and don't quite know how that happened.  I saw my sister-in-law the next day who told me about it, I swiftly changed it ... I have to blame someone don't I (can't be my fault), so my proof reader get's the blame! ... aka David. 😂
I can't quite believe where the years have gone, it all seems to go by so quickly doesn't it!  I'm sure it's because we fit so much in our lives and want to achieve more and more as time goes on.
We went for dinner in our usual venue near us.   Reads Restaurant is an elegant Georgian manor house and the fine dining we experience there is just amazing.

Anyway let's take a look at what I wore on Tuesday evening.

It's a typical summer dress style, shirred bodice, fits to midway between knee and ankle and has a gorgeous puff sleeve and gypsy frill on the hem.

What to wear to the Races- #Chicandstylish #LINKUP

Morning my friends.
Are you doing well and staying sane being stuck indoors?
We all seem to be going a bit stir crazy in mine, fortunately we have a big garden where the kids can play to there hearts content, but they are still wanting needing to be getting back to some sort of normality.  It's hard to explain why they can't go the school, after-school clubs and have friends over for play dates.  I can only imagine how hard it is for families stuck in flats with no garden to enjoy - I feel for them.
One thing I am enjoying at the moment is cooking for a larger family. (My daughter and family are living with us). Normally I've only two kids at home both of whom often do their own thing, I'm relishing the fact I can cook for six again, although I've had to adjust everything and it's almost like learning from scratch.  To keep a routine we've been planning our meals in advance which has made a big difference, I don't want to be shopping all the time like I usually do, so with our proper menus I know just what to buy - it's made it a whole lot easier.
Some of our meals were: Spicy Prawns, Chicken & Mushroom Pie, Roast Lamb, Meatballs with Spaghetti & Stir Fry.  I'm not even going to think about their house being finished and them moving out!  I'll be going through the empty nest tears all over again!

Let's do a little daydreaming shall we?  These photos taken over three weeks ago are literally the last photos I have to use.  I'm hoping one of the children will take more for me. 🤞
I bought this dress for a party back in January, but opted for another so this was holed up in the wardrobe ready to be worn at the drop of a hat.  Don't you think it would be perfect for a day at the races?  Well let's imagine that's where I'm off to all dressed up in my glamorous dress.

Bonmarche - Stripy Trousers #Chicandstylish #linkup

Morning my friends
How are you all?
I'm still in a pre-wedding frenzy, running about here, there and everywhere getting the last few pieces of the wedding puzzle sorted.  I know the day will be here before I know it, and all too soon it will become a distant memory, so I want to try and enjoy what I'm doing but that's easier said than done!
We've had the 'Hen' weekend, which I will be sharing in the next couple of weeks, my outfit is ready and waiting, the hair and makeup has been booked - along with my nail and spray tan appointment. Caterers are sorted I just need to finalize the drinks and a few other finishing touches then I'll be wedding ready.  Wish me luck to get it all done my friends.

I was recently in contact with Bonmarche & it couldn't have come at a better time.  Having lost weight in the past few months, many of my clothes are now too big.  I've been adding bits and pieces to my otherwise sparse wardrobe, so these stripy trousers are a welcome addition for me.
As you may well know I love wide leg palazzo trousers, finding them flattering and comfortable.  These are no exception, and will give tons of options for Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter.

Vionic Josie Courts + Lace Bonmarche Dress #chicandstylish #linkup

Hi there - thanks for stopping by my over fifties fashion blog today.
The weeks seem to have flown by since Christmas with the safe arrival of my grandson, school run duties and a skiing trip to France I seem to have been on the go for weeks.  It's nice to now sit back and collect my thoughts.
I'm still having doubts about my blog though.  Am I the only one to question myself?  Am I doing the right thing, is my blog working, is it interesting enough?  Then there's the comparing, comparing my content, my style & my photography (when I take photos myself).  Shall I give up?  Shall I carry on? Should I change things? If so what should I change?  Gosh it makes me dizzy thinking about it all.  In truth I have to brush it off and give myself a good talking to.  I'm writing this blog for me, and if anyone joins me along the way then that's a bonus - right?  So that being said I'd like to say a big "Thank You" to all who do follow along and support Mummabstylish - I really do appreciate it. 💗
How do you tackle your uncertainty?

One thing I am 100% sure on are these Vionic court shoes.  I'd been ogling them on the website for months, and finally got my own pair a few weeks ago!

Let me tell you a few details about Vionic footwear.

TK Maxx Floral Trousers with Feminine Frills & Ivory boots #chicandstylish #linkup

Morning lovelies, how are you all doing?
I'm starting to pack for the holiday now, I've been getting everything in order since the beginning of this week & buying the last few bits I need.  Going through my clothes I toyed with taking this with me, ending up omitting it.  Well I think it might be that bit too dressy for the apres-ski bars in Tignes, not that I've been there before, but all venues are more or less the same.  So it will be a couple of pairs of jeans along with a few pretty tops being packed.  Surprisingly the hotels, bars and restaurants all tend to be really warm, so I won't be taking loads of jumpers with me & alas this pretty fancy will have to remain at home!
Thought you might like to see it anyway …  what do you think?  It has to be one of my favourite casual, daytime looks.

How feminine is this pretty blue jumper - I adore the fluted sleeves and frilly stand up collar.
