Animal Print with Block Colours - Chic & Stylish Linkup.

Morning all.
Welcome to you all and I’d like to wish you a Happy New Year.

I can’t quite believe it’s 2026, last year flew by. I’ve got a very exciting year ahead. You see my daughter is getting married in August so there’s lots of plans and preparations along with finishing off the new build. It’s really starting to take shape, we’re at the first fixing & plaster-boarding stage with plastering on the horizon. I’ll be looking for a kitchen and paint swatches before long!

I’ve also got to get my dress planned for the wedding too. I’ve worn blue to three of my children’s weddings and had an idea to go for something different but until I see it I’m keeping my options open!

With the weather apparently getting very cold I wanted to show off a stunning scarf I’d been given. It’s from the small selection at Damart and came in the goody bag I received at the WS preview last September .

Items marked with * have been gifted to me, however these are 100% my own honest comments.

I tend to wear neutrals and plain shades, although I’m partial to bright colours and patterns too. However I try to add interest into a look by picking a bold accessory like a fancy scarf or contrasting handbag. Whilst trying on these new trousers the other day, It just seemed to fall into place with the addition of my chunky grey roll neck and flamboyant red jacket. Now I know this won’t be suitable if the snow arrives next week - but I’ll switch in my red short coat which will be a warmer addition instead.

I really like the contrasting cuff on this outfit, I just turned the sleeves over the cuff of my jacket revealing the grey jumper. It’s a great way to make an outfit look that little bit more ‘put together’ don’t you think?

Now shall I tell you about the trousers? You all know I like a palazzo fit as I find them flattering for my shape. I saw them in Matalan a while back and although I tried them on, they didn’t have my size in the colour I wanted - grey. Fast forward to Christmas shopping just before the big day and guess what I found on the sale rail for half the price? Yes my size in grey. They fit me beautifully so for the bargain price of £10 they came home with me. Just look at the fit, don’t they look lovely. They’re half elastic with pockets and have a formal pleat down the front making them look very elegant with a classic finish.

I opted for my black ankle boots which have a comfortable lower heel and pointed toe, I’ve always noted how very feminine this looks - is it something you’d wear and be happy in?

Now what about this black and white scarf.* It’s actually off white and an animal print which works so well with bright red..
Grey makes a welcomed addition from black and might have to be my ‘go to’ for the foreseeable future as it’s less harsh. I’m also still loving brown, so you’ll be seeing a mixture of the two over the next months.
The chunky scarf has a companion in the form of a cute little beanie hat. I tend to pick and choose when I put a hat on as it always messes up my very straight hair which ends up looking flat so sticks out in the wrong places! Can you wear a hat and still look great when you take it off? Lucky you if you can!

This two piece is now reduced to just under £15, which is really reasonable for both items

  2. I'm a reader/fan from the United States! I don't remember how I found your page, but, so glad I did. Even though your shopping locations are different from what's available for me, I love to see your style suggestions and make them work for me both by shopping my own wardrobe and finding local sources if necessary.

I also really enjoy hearing about what you're up to! Especially following your new build. It's going to be so lovely! I've traveled to Great Britain both in 2024 and 2025 and sure hope to go back. I think I'm a Brit at heart! Afterall, it is in my DNA!

You have opened my eyes to wearing wide leg trousers. For the longest time I didn't like how my straight leg trousers looked, but feared a wide leg would be "too much'." So, I tended to stick to jeans except when dressing up for church or other events and then wore my skinny, straight legs. But, I always loved the look of wide leg trousers when you style them! So, I finally tried a pair myself. I LOVE the look and comfort of them! Thank you for opening my eyes to try new styles! A very Happy and Blessed New Year to you and yours!
