No sign of Valentine’s Day Here - Chicandstylish #LINKUP

Hello and welcome to Mummabstylish.
Did you have a fun day yesterday?

Having been married for nearly 38 years, I realised I don’t need one specific day to celebrate love and feel Valentine’s Day is an over hyped, over commercialised day designed for more and more companies to make money. Now don’t get me wrong buying a gift or taking someone out for a meal is lovely but why not do it on one of the other 364 days of the year!

Today’s outfit has no red or pink in it and is made up from my latest pair of jeans my subtle pale blue jacket & a few old faithfuls from my wardrobe. 🩵🤍

I think I’ve gone through my skinny jean stage and although I wore that cream pair last Monday I’m smitten with wide leg styles now. Much like all the palazzo styles I wear, these are really flattering for my shape and always look very elegant on. I found them on the H & M website. I bought two sizes and opted for the larger of the two, but if I keep dropping weight due to calorie counting I’ll be investing in the smaller size too! The length is possible the one problem they have, they only do one length which is only suitable for heels or platforms. I’ll be checking out shorter lengths so I can wear them with flats and trainers. They’ll be perfect for Spring when ditsy florals and bright colours will be running amuck! 🌸🩷🩵🤍🌼

The little knitted top is sleeveless and would be best suited for warmer days, but the pattern is so pretty and looked great over the jeans. I popped silver jewellery on which complimented the colours beautifully.
A white belt just because I love adding belts, they finish the look off nicely don’t you think? I also wore white sling-back heels and could really do with some white boots as well. I’ve got my cream ones which I’ll wear under the jeans without adding any bulk to the legs.

I love this cut-out design bag, and it’s white! White goes with everything I reckon, so like last Summer this beauty will get lots of use.
It’s also big enough to travel with so I took it away last year when I went on the hen weekend. I squeezed in, makeup, phone, money, passport and paperwork (I like taking hard copies when I go away) my book, a small jumper and tissues, oh and my duty free perfume fitted in nicely.

Here’s a closer look at my little knitted vest top. It’s ages old from Marks and Spencer but washes and wears really well.  It’s one of those tops that go with lots of things and it’s going to get plenty of attention come the Summer months.

Who likes to add scarves into the outfit mix? I’ve got quite a few different styles and colours so always have one to add to my look. This one fitted in really well and picked out some of the colours of my blazer, top and jeans. I like to keep things simple only using three colours - do you like this style or would you add another option? Do let me know what you’d choose. X

  2. I love Valentine's Day! We had the most romantic Valentine weekend doing a candlelight walk through a forest. Yes, everyone should show love their loved ones everyday of the year, but why not have one special day to do something extra special? I love your jeans! I'm with you on ditching the skinnies.

  3. My husband is often out of town on Valentine's and places get busy around here so we usually just plan a date during the month of February. I love this blue and how you put together this look.

  4. My husband almost always buys me a Valentine's Day card. I truly wish he wouldn't because I feel so guilty when I get rid of them. After more than 50 years (almost 48 married), I don't really need that. I love this outfit, Jacqui! The pale blues work so beautifully with the white sweater. And, you look fabulous! I haven't counted calories in decades, but maybe that's a good idea again!

Thank you so much for the feature as well as this week's linky! Please join me this Thursday evening for the Weekend Traffic Jam!

  5. We don't do anything about Valentines either, I think it's a lot of bullshit. Love that jeans on you! And a very nice scarf!

  6. The pale blue looks lovely on you Jacqui! We didn't do anything for Valentine's Day either, it's all about selling cards and tat. I got a lie in which was the best present possible!

  8. Your style with this casual outfit is maybe classic, but you are still so feminine Jacqui. A true singular beauty, as always.
