How's it going?
I'm on the count down to my birthday, it's only 3 days away! Not that I want to be another year older, but I want to spend time with my family and friends. Like all of you, lock-down has scuppered any plans to get together over the last two years, so with all the rules lifted I'm hoping my family will be round to celebrate with a drink or two! 😉
On Saturday I'm off to another wedding with hubby. My daughter is bridesmaid to one of her oldest friends and it's been lovely to be included in the celebrations. I've got a couple of dresses in mind, and also a new one has been ordered (hope it comes in time) from the company that sent me this one I wore to the wedding last week.
The blue lace dress I've been planning to wear has been hanging on the rail since the first and only time I wore it - it was to my niece's wedding way back in 2017, but as it's a classic style I know it wouldn't look out of place - but as I've still not tried in on (I've lost weight and put on weight and lost again since) I don't know if it will fit!!
Don't worry I'll let you know which one I chose to wear.
I need to tell you about my ballet exam result. Do you remember I did an adult ballet exam a few weeks ago? Well I managed to get honours with a score of 89!!! As you can imagine I'm elated to achieve this, especially only training once a week and being over 50! Just goes to show anything is possible and you're never too old to try something new!
Anyway back to dresses, let me share one I've got earmarked for my upcoming holiday to Majorca. Have I mentioned we are going with ALL THE KIDS AND THEIR FAMILIES in June????
It's going to be an interesting one for sure and I'm anticipating all of us being THAT family that people want to avoid - lol! I'm setting a few ground rules before we travel and I'm hoping for a row free happy holiday - stay tuned for that outcome in July!!!
Items marked with * have been gifted to me, however these are 100% my own honest comments.
Are you a fan of the 'bardot' style? I must admit it's not something I wear often, but they are perfect for holiday attire. When I saw this one on the Matalan website I was intrigued and wanted to see how it looked. I was over the moon when it arrived and I tried it on - it looks lovely and I hope you all agree.
Sea green isn't a colour I would normally choose, but there was something about this midi dress* that caught my eye. Maybe my love of leopard print or possibly the length, but when I saw this on the website I wanted it. It's a perfect holiday dress when comfort and style is number one on the agenda. I know it's going to be a winner as it's so easy to slip on, no worry-some zips or buttons to deal with and the soft elastic waist will be much appreciated once I'm let loose on the 'all inclusive' buffet & bar .. ha ha!
The sleeves are very flattering, they finish just below the elbow which cover up a multitude on 'arm' sins 😅 I often wear short or thin strapped dresses, but as I'm getting older the arms aren't what they used to be! (I'll have a spray tan before I go, that does make everything look better doesn't it?)
I had a bit of a thing for leopard print and I have plenty in my wardrobe to call upon - It's a 'marmite' look, either you love it or wouldn't be seen dead in it - do spill if you like to wear animal print.
The colour appealed to me first, it's not the run-of-the-mill brown version but a pretty sea green and black arrangement that looked so unusual. I kept the accessories basic as I wanted to show the dress off for the easy to wear, feminine style it is.
Embracing my black additions I picked a chunky bangle and cute mules - both easy to slip on and will come in handy on my holiday. I'd probably change the large leather bag for a thin clutch for my trip away, but for a lunch date or shopping trip the Daniella Lehavi satchel works like a dream.
I decided to opt for a plunge necklace and settled on this black metal design that I acquired from my daughter. It's a striking multi strand chain and really made the outfit sing.
I know there's limited stock for this stylish dress & It's also available in petite sizes which is very helpful indeed. Available in sizes 8 - 18 for the affordable price of £14.50 what's not to love about this timeless classic!
