Matalan Florals - #Chicandstylish #LINKUP

Hi there,
How you all doing?

It's the Easter holidays and we have a family dinner planned for Sunday after the usual Easter Egg Hunt.  Hope it's warm and sunny for the kids as we have a big garden (you recall I'm always moaning about cutting the grass) so there's plenty of hiding places.  Do you do anything special for Easter?

Talking of the garden, I need to get my pots planted for the Summer, I adore seeing the flowers bloom and my all time favourite has to be an agapanthus.  The lilac flower balls are a sight to see and I can't wait to spot the stems growing day by day.  I've also got a beautiful peony that finally bloomed last year after nothing at all since it was planted!  I have a couple of rose bushes, all gifts and all have pretty stunning buds later in the season.  My love for flowers continues into what I wear.  I'm a big fan of flowery dresses and this year there's an abundance of floral accessories like shoes, bags and hair accessories.  I might try out the latter, but I'm not a big fan of flowers on the other pieces - maybe a blouse is more my thing as are dresses.  Would you wear floral shoes?

Today I'm sharing the prettiest dress with you.  There's a riotous scattering of pink, yellow and blue petals over this smock dress, which gives scope for lots of accents - I hope you like mine?

Items marked with * have been gifted to me, however these are 100% my own honest comments.

When the lovely people at Matalan asked me if I'd like to pick a couple of items I simply jumped at the chance, I'm a huge fan of their clothing and am often shopping or browsing my local store.  They're reasonably priced (this is only £18) and often have just my sort of thing just waiting to be bought!  So scrolling through the website I could have filled my basket twice over with all the fabulous pieces they were showing.
But this is one of the picks I fell for.  How pretty is this smock dress?

I'm a sucker for a floral number* and the bigger, bolder patterns always catch my eye.  This one was no different either,  I could see it worn with boots for spring as well as in the Summer with sandals.  But here I showed it in a casual way with trainers.  It's just perfect for running errands or shopping trips, and buy adding some heels I'd be good to go for lunch or dinner.

Talking of blue my latest bag 'crush' looks right at home in this mix.

It has an unusual V neck line which I find very flattering and the puffy sleeves finish on the elbow with a shirred frill.  This will be a cool number for holidays and it will 100% be in my suitcase for my next trip away (in June with ALL the family).

White trainers have to be one of the best buys you can make, I wear mine so often with jeans, skirts and dresses and they turn give any outfit a cool vibe, oh and they're really comfortable as well!
I could have picked out any of the shades in my dress, and I've already worn it with black boots.
I've got a comfy pair of yellow sandals that I think would look good, and I'm planning on adding a few coloured sandals soon as it is all about bright and vibrant shades this year isn't it!

Doesn't my new jean jacket look great over it?  It matches the lavender pink easily so it was a no-brainer to wear it - but I did think about my usual denim jacket for a second option - that too would pick out the blue perfectly.  Talking of blue my latest bag 'crush' looks right at home in this mix.   I know I'm repeating myself but you have to agree the choices are endless for this midaxi!

You can tell I'm over the moon with this enchanting dress and do forgive me if I wear it frequently - I promise you'll see it paired in a different guise next time my friends. X

  12. You are a lovely combo of spring brights here, Jacqui! I'm with you- very excited to get my pots planted and start working in the garden. It's still too risky to do much planting right now here in Kansas City with the risk of freezes, but my hostas are coming up and I'm eyeing indoor plants that will soon move outside once spring really settles in. :)

Would love for you to come check out my new post, I'm in florals, too!

  16. Jacqui, we could trade closets and be perfectly happy! I adore floral prints! The vast majority of my dresses are floral and most of my scarves. I recently bought a pair of floral eyeglasses! If I could find the right pair of shoes, I would definitely buy floral. I just probably wouldn't wear them all together! You've done such an excellent job with the pink jacket and the blue bag! Love them!!! Have a marvelous Easter with your people! Thanks for the link up!!
