Hen Weekend.

Hi there, how are you my friends?
You may remember my daughters wedding fell last weekend, & the build-up has been non-stop leaving me tired, drained and exhausted.  My mojo had definitely vanished making way for symptoms of the empty nest syndrome - tears and upset!  Although I still have my youngest daughter and son at home, it's been an ongoing struggle, but then that's part of life's rich pattern isn't it?  So I'm keeping busy and looking forward to quality time I know I'll have with her and my new son-in-law.

I'll be sharing the wedding soon, but until then - here's what we got up to on the 'hen' weekend.
Emily wanted a quiet, relaxing and laid back weekend break, this both my other daughters arranged for her and some 13 hens beautifully.  We travelled to Torremolinos, Spain early on the Saturday morning.  After a little shopping in duty free, we had drinks in the airport and boarded the flight, subsequently being met by our own personal driver who transported us to our hotel near the beach in about half an hour.  Our hotel, Las Palomas suited all our needs and the light airy rooms were plenty big enough for our three nights stay having everything we needed beautifully arranged.  The hotel had a fabulous buffet restaurant, with just about any sort of food you could imagine, I certainly ate much more than I needed to, along with drinking more than I should on a couple of occasions!!!  The bars were well stocked, with prosecco, spirits and some very 'morish' slush drinks that we mixed with either vodka or malibu - heaven in a drink - sort of an alcoholic ice lolly. 😁

Black and white night, I wore this slip dress and I've found this very similar version from M & S.

The first night the girls arranged for an evening at a Drag show - well what can I say, it was fabulous and one of the best nights out in a long time.  I've never been before and didn't know quite what to expect. Countessa Guapatini was spectacular - well and truly earning the position of #1 in Trip Advisor things to do in Costa Del Sol!  He not only sung musical renditions, danced, performed  ventriloquism all interspersed with topical jokes and innuendos that had us in fits of laughter.  I've really had my head turned and decided this would not be my only visit to see a drag queen!

After a sumptuous selection at the breakfast buffet we found our way to the pool.  Sunbeds were sorted and we set ourselves up for relaxing in the sun - making sure the bar was just about near enough for us to consider we'd done enough exercise for the day - lol.  My daughters had arranged games to play at various times over the weekend, games such as Mr & Mrs & bride bingo - with prizes of free drink, and free use of the pool too - ha ha ha (we were all inclusive anyway).  The girls had also asked for funny memories to be shared, these were printed and read out by Emily to see if she knew who they were from - most were based around drinking too much and funny nights out at Emily's expense.  Mine was following the sat nav with Emily and we ended up on a bus road - fortunately we didn't get a ticket!!!

Our last day was spent visiting the beach which was as you would expect - golden, sunny and simply stunning.  Ice creams a plenty with every kind of flavour you could imagine - not that ice cream is my thing, I really have to fancy it and then it's normally boring vanilla!  With the sea too rough to swim, we settled on paddling and sunbathing - with a restaurant right next to us, we had a glass of bubbles to fully enjoy the setting.   We'd got a meal arranged for the night and had all been instructed to wear a black outfit, with Emily wearing white - we got lots of stares from the locals, and I wonder if they ever had quite so many glamorous hens in their town.  Our return journey home departed at an acceptable ten in the morning, arriving home early evening with lots of funny & memorable stories being recalled along the way.  My god-daughter was also with us taking plenty of photos, but I haven't seen any of them yet - I'll possibly try and add them when I can.

We managed another 'cheeky' night out the following Saturday, a meal in a local restaurant also had us dancing the night away after a fab meal.  So nice to celebrate with other family and friends that couldn't make the weekend abroad

Thanks so much for stopping by today.
See you again on Thursday for the #chicandstylish #LINKUP
Bye for now. X
