Packing Light & Chanel Styles.

Hello there lovelies, how are you are doing?
With my skiing holiday within touching distance I'm getting everything ready to pack into my case.  There's not much to plan for this holiday, basically I just take about three pairs of jeans with various tops and jumpers, along with a tracksuit - skiing is quite laid-back so no fancy dresses or skirts will be accompanying me, I'll save them for the next holiday! 😏  Hopefully everything will fit into one case then I won't have to take a cabin bag with me.  I like to travel light now-a-days!  But it never used to be like that, have a read to see why!

This is such a funny story involving my best friend some thirty odd years ago ....

Both teenagers at the time and visiting my father in London.  He was meeting us at Victoria Station. How grown up we felt travelling all that distance on our own! (an hour on the train) lol.  We were dropped at the local station with our rather large suitcases (and I mean large) I'm giggling now as I recall the day.  Yes we had ONE EACH to go to my dad's for the WEEKEND!!!
I remember his face when he met us from the train - bemused to say the least!
We had everything you could possibly imagine packed, jumpers, skirts, shoes, etc, etc.  We were ready for every eventuality, for our month long weekend away.  Do you know what the funniest thing was?  Yes we actually borrowed half of each others clothes so didn't need anywhere near the amount of clothes we packed!  It's not as if we were out clubbing or partying all the time, just a couple of lunches in local pubs, the rest of the time we were indoors - hilarious when I remember, you know who you are Mrs.W !!! 🤣🤣
So now I like to travel with enough clothes, not too many.  Taking one or two extra outfits for just-in-case! Preferably dresses or jumpsuits see my post on one piece packing.

With my best friend in mind - I was out with her on Saturday night, along with our posse (OH's, sister and brother-in-law).  We went to a cook your own steak night at a local pub, you may remember
when I went before wearing floral & green.
I chose a casual but dressy outfit because it was in a pub, a small typical old English pub, that is quite cramped with a low ceiling and wooden beams.
Trousers just seemed right for the night.
I'd picked these beautiful jacquard trousers, that sit at the ankle to give a modern silhouette.  Choosing my pink ankle boots and pink blouson style top I felt suitably stylish, matched & smart too.  Finishing off with my Christmas present from hubby (that I'd dropped plenty of hints about).  Having wanted a Chanel style jacket for a long time now, hubby was spot on with his pick.
This Hobbs tweed jacket has a mixture of subtle creams, corals and orange threads throughout it, with black braiding that trims the edges.  Nipped in at the waist for a contemporary feel, it added that little bit of sophistication to my overall look.

Let's add another Chanel style to the mix - my Top Shop clutch bag, just big enough for a lipstick and phone.

  1. Super outfit Jacqui, looking so sophisticated! Liked your reminiscing, from recollection we did only travel with huge suitcases, hence we filled them. To bursting point! Maybe the carry on option has disciplined us and brought about the more sensible capsule travel packing.
    Enjoy your holiday countdown, x.

  8. Your jacket is very chic Jacqui, best dressed lady in the pub! I've learned to pack light. My cousin came to visit from Germany for 10 days and looked like she was moving in. When she was packing to go home again, I asked her if she had worn everything she brought. Of course, she hadn't. :-)

    Have fun skiing!
