Styling my new/old check skirt.

Hi there lovelies, how are you?
Hope it's not too miserable and dreary for you and you haven't got the Christmas blues!  I'm getting very excited for my skiing holiday.  For the past 15 years we have travelled to The Alpes for a weeks skiing.  Bundling the kids in the car along with our bags and equipment stuffed in too.  Having five kids there wasn't much room, but hubby was ace at packing and always got everything in.  Every nook and cranny in our people carrier was spilling out stuff!  Odd shoes, coats, bottles of drink, socks you name it we had it!  It worked out financially better for us to travel by car and not fly - plus we got an extra day skiing arriving early and leaving late - result!  Of later years we've taken to flying, much easier with only having to worry about my own case, taking time for a meal & then shopping.  But looking back I'm yearning for our old family fun trips that started as soon as we got to the channel tunnel!

So as I carry on dreaming about my past and forthcoming holidays, I want to share this cute burgundy, black and grey check skirt with you.

I bought this skirt ages ago but haven't had the right top to wear with it.  I made it a resolution to find one suitable to go with it.  I fancied a grey jumper or blouse.  Grey jumpers had evaded my wardrobe for some time now so I wanted to address this and find one that I not only liked but that was flattering too.  I spotted this batwing sleeved jumper in Florence and Fred earlier on this week and promptly bought it!  It'd been reduced too, so a real bargain at just over £10, also available in mustard and pale blue - hmmm 😏

A tube skirt is fabulous for everyone, there's no zip, no waistband and no buttons!  Just an elastic waist.  They are also very versatile considering a longer version can be rolled over on the waistband to make the skirt the length you want it.  My burgundy checked version sits just above the knee, but could be rolled over to make a mini skirt, but I won't subject any of you to see more of my legs lol!  The black opaque tights are my only option for a shorter than normal skirt and work well with the grey ankle boots too.  My fur gilet or vest jacket as some might call it, is a much loved little addition that's come and gone and come back into fashion, always looking the same just like I bought it.  Anything fake fur is such a good investment, so worth looking out for.
View here paired with burgundy straight leg trousers also wearing a cream version.

You know I love a necklace with my outfits, here's a jingly, jangly beaded necklace I've had for yonks,  a great little number that fits with plenty of my looks.  I've also got another similar beaded beauty that seems to have taken a rest in my daughter's room!!!

Off into town later on today, so I'll have a quick study of the sales to see if anything takes my fancy  Don't worry you'll be the first to know if I do!
