Army Green dressed up!

Hello one and all, thanks for stopping by I hope you're all well.

Did you catch my blog post on Monday featuring 5 Over 50!?  If you missed it here's a link to the style challenge featuring:

'Something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue'

You may have seen my Instagram Outfit last week, I wanted to elaborate... if you care to read on I will, but first I'd like to share this with you.....
If you're anything like me the best sort of Therapy I love to partake in is Retail Therapy.  I love nothing more than shopping, looking, musing, feeling, styling and buying.  If I get a bargain, well I'm in my element.  Then coming home where I can mix, match & style to my hearts content!  That's my therapy wrapped up in a bag, a recycled bag!
So I had a little Therapy a few days ago, and I'm happy to say I've got a couple of bargains to share with you  - I'd love you to pop back next week to see them. X

As we're talking about Therapy, here's another kind of therapy I like to get involved in.

Listening Therapy or as I call it ... 'nod and Uhm' moments?

Let me explain,  These are the words hubby and I use when we are just getting something off our chest, like a moan, a rant, or an observation about someone or something, a detail about something that has happened in our day, mainly anything that's occurred since we last saw each other.

Sometimes all we need is a soundboard - someone to just listen!  Listen to anything and everything that's gone on when we've been going about our daily duties.  But the one basic point to remember is never to comment, agree, disagree or condone!

It works for us, and proves that talking really is good Therapy!  So if you're lucky enough to have a husband, wife, partner, parent, off-spring, friend or even a four legged fury friend - talking and getting things off your chest works wonders.  This is the time to listen and not comment, this is the time to just 'nod and uhm',  and we all need that nod and uhm moment sometimes don't we?  Lol!

Today I thought I'd share my Army Green Peg Trousers previously worn here, and also on my IG page showing a casual look paired with pale pink.

These came from Dorothy Perkins and have now been reduced to £17.60!!! Bargain.
Humm.... thinking out loud now ... I wonder if the blue ones have gone in the sale too!!

I decided to go for a plain look, which I achieved by wearing a cream round neck t shirt, it's actually a long sleeve version to keep warm on the cooler April day I took photos.
I paired these with a cute Chanel style jacket I bought in the Matalan sale last year.  It's off white with a black stripe which has a Lurex thread running though it giving it a bright, stylish feel.  I've only worn this  previously with black and cream garments, but think it looks interesting with my army green trousers.

My shoe option was picked more for comfort rather than looks, I prefer to wear some sort of heel, but I reckon the cream patent loafer adds enough interest, without taking away the stylishness of my outfit.  I've worn these on numerous blog posts and they never let me down on the well-being of my feet.

The cream belt adorned with gold studs, compliments the pearl and gold beaded necklace.
I swivelled the belt round to the side to avoid seeing the buckle, I think it gives a fluid, not too busy look.

Here's to a little Therapy in your week, I'd love to hear how it goes, and what Therapy works for you.

Catch me again on Monday, where I'll be featuring a recent purchase I made, it's okay, it was all in the name of Therapy 😜!

Bye, bye .. X

Five Over 50 Challenge!

Morning all on this May Day Bank Holiday.

How excited am I?
Today is a big day for me and my blog.

What do you get if you put five mature ladies together, five blogs, a few years of fashion experience, a yearning to look fabulous, a zest for life and a varying amount of money?

You get a  Five over 50 Challenge  of course!

Once a month we are setting ourselves a challenge.  We'd love you to join us on the
First of each month to see how we've all created an outfit based on one person's theme.
Today the 1st May our Five Over 50 style challenge choice is this:

Something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue.
None of that wedding dress malarkey for us, just check out these blogs to see what stunning outfits are waiting patiently to be mused over.

Something old represents continuity; something new offers optimism for the future; something borrowed symbolises borrowed happiness; something blue stands for love, and fidelity; and a sixpence in your shoe is a wish for good fortune and prosperity. (we've left that one out, maybe a little too uncomfortable in our Jimmy Choo's 😅😂😂)

Launching a fantastic new venture for

My take on the theme had me at a bit of a loss when I first heard the challenge , racking my brains, searching my wardrobe, my daughters' wardrobes, and the High Street stores.
As all women do I purchased two outfits - well a girl's got to have choice and we never know how we're going to 'feel' on the day!
My first outfit I wasn't totally contented with, so went off looking again, such bother I hate shopping!!! Lol.

Wandering through New Look I spotted this jumpsuit, seeing the potential immediately I grabbed my size, paid and left - all the time conjuring up exactly how and what I'd style it with.
I said in a previous post I needed wanted another Jumpsuit, I knew I had to have this one and it's pretty obvious why I love it.

Just look at the colours - you all know how much I love pink, but with blue and orange to choose from this outfit has so much scope it's going to be easy peasy lemon squeezy to wear on so many occasions.  This also fits in with my passion for wearing just one piece garments on holidays - check out my post featuring One piece outfits.

I was so sure on the jumpsuit I didn't even look at the price,  that's knowing your own style right there.  Here's the link and I've just checked it's only £24.99.  Oh and I was right it looked, fitted and felt perfect!

I love the length - a flattering finish mid-calf, giving a very chic and stylish look. A cross-over neckline, which I confess does require a safety pin to hold in place currently. I may put a little stitch here instead, because it already has a zip back fastening - I found this after trying to get it on! (Imagine Harry Houdini in a straitjacket!!! Ha ha ha.)  It also has a long cap sleeve which is also very flattering on the arms, but keeping cool at the same time.  All in all the perfect Jumpsuit.

Obviously that's my New item, now onto the Old.
This H & M off white blazer I've owned for some years now, this came as a present from the children, most probably one of the girls as they know my style so well.  You can never go wrong with a blazer in one of the basic colours - so having an off white choice will stand you in good stead with your over fifty jacket selection.

Onto something Borrowed this stunning necklace belongs to my daughter.  She bought it from a cute little boutique, down our quirky High Street.   The colour and boldness of the design made this my favoured pick although I do have plenty of others that would work equally well.

Something Blue my clutch bag, from my bag collection and picking out the blue in my jumpsuit.  A vast array of colours could go very well with this outfit, including black, white, pink or amber.
I chose my favourite white wedge peep toe sandals which I've worn on several occasions recently including here and here! Coming from Dorothy Perkins, however these are no longer available as they were bought last year, which is such a shame because I wanted the tan option too!
They have some super styles in store and on line, why not take a peek?

Little tip!  With the season of outdoor events, such as weddings, christenings and parties I find it's crucial to avoid the heel-sinking-in-the-grass situation... so by wearing wedges or possibly block heels you can alleviate that problem.

An idea was conceived, created, moulded, produced and accomplished for you all to enjoy.
So, five fabulous ladies over fifty have joined forces in this challenge and their ideas are quite honestly; appealing, quite different, really alluring and truly imaginative - and yes, all from ladies over 50? - you bet and you're gonna love 'em!

Follow the links above to view these amazing blogs, you'll gain inspiration from them all, and guess what?  We're doing the same next month, and we'd love you to stop by on 1st June to view us again in a different guise!

Now remember ladies in our own words - "Age is just a number",   Laurie "We're not ready to hang up our high heels just yet",    Gail "We're sassy over forty",   Anna - "Bin the beige", and
Ashley - "Get passionate about interiors and everything handmade"

Start visiting the blogs now ladies -  you don't want to miss a thing.

Big hugs and many thanks to Esther Ruby for taking some fabulous shots!  Loved catching up with my best friend (her mum) too. x

Back on Thursday, hope you enjoy the shorter week again. X

Are you HAPPY?

Good morning, are you happy?

This post should have gone out weeks ago, but just couldn't find the right outfit I had in mind, so here it is better late than never!

Wanted to share with you this lovely book I received for Mothers Day.
My daughter delighted me with Fearne Cotton's book HAPPY some weeks ago, and I couldn't wait to start reading it.
I have to be in the right frame of mind to read a book , and it's something I don't do very often.  My normal situation to read is on a flight - takes my mind of where I am!!

Happy is a book about Depression, I wouldn't class myself as being depressed at all, but thought it might be an interesting read and I may learn something.

It reads "little things keep your mental health at bay and is packed with ideas and practical exercises to join in with her journey."
I'll keep you updated as to what my impression of the book is like ...

Love the colours on my new Mothers Day Cath Kidston mug, perfect colours to match my book.

I was so inspired by the colours on the cover and felt I wanted to see if I could create a suitable outfit to incorporate some/all of the colours.

Here's what I ended up with ...

I know I like bright colours but I really can't see me wearing this outfit out, definitely not out out either!
Therefore I've tried to style these colours but slightly muted down with black trousers which is more how I'd wear it.

I'm calling this a 'Rainbow scarf' for obvious reasons, borrowed from middle daughter, I'm not sure where she acquired it from, but it can be paired with a multitude of coloured pieces, making it a versatile little acquisition that maybe she won't notice missing!

The trousers I'm wearing are basic straight leg.  I've worn these numerous times and certainly got my monies worth from this Dorothy Perkins key item.  Every over fifty fashionista should own at least one pair!

This basic yellow silky top is one of many coloured staples in my wardrobe,  I'd recommend getting this style of top in the significant colourways of black, white, blue and red, also adding a couple of seasonal tones that will enhance your wardrobe, which will, in turn, mix and match with all the on-trend fashion additions you care to buy.  Coming from Matalan for just under £20 - Superb!

I really needed this pale blue long line cardigan when taking these photos, come to think of it a fur coat may have gone down a treat - it was bloody freezing - don't let the gorgeous sunshine and blue sky fool you, we had hail stones and sleet about an hour later!!!  Typical British weather!
View what else I paired my F & F cardi with here.

Have you got an exciting long weekend lined up?
I'll be enjoying a little celebration with friends and family for hubby's birthday - that's the thing with a large family - plenty of birthday parties!
So with a Birthday, a Bank Holiday and beautiful grandchildren I'm definitely saying Yes - I'm Happy.

Don't forget to pop back on holiday Monday as there's an interesting little project in the pipe line - please don't miss it!

Until Monday, thanks I'm chuffed you've taken the time to visit,  I hope you can leave a comment. X

Hello Monday - Another Style Steal!

Hello and welcome back to my blog!

How's your weekend been?
I've enjoyed a special day yesterday as it was my eldest daughter's Birthday.  I can't be old enough to have a grown up daughter with children of her own!  I recall the day she told us they were engaged - visions of 'Father of the Bride' came to mind with Steve Martin's character double take look at his daughter announcing she was "getting married"!
All he could see was his six year old speaking!
But guess what, I am old enough and I have got a grown up daughter who's married WITH children - god I sound at least 52!!!! Lol.
She popped round for presents, cake and a glass of bubbly (I had bubbly she had tea!) we had a great catch up, and a few cuddles with my princess and prince - cos I hadn't seen them in AGES!! (In house joke between me and my princess), Okay the day before actually!!

Needing a little inspiration today, and where else to find that, but in the form of your wonderful blogs.
Whilst flicking through some over the weekend I spotted the gorgeous Andrea from Living on Cloud Andrea Nine wearing her denim jean jacket, along with a basic black dress and cute slip on pumps she looked very casual, but also very chic.
I decided to try and re-create this look but with a slight change - a black jumpsuit instead of a dress.
I've shown this before Here, but forgive the bad photos please!

Everyone should have a jumpsuit in their wardrobe, I mean who doesn't love a jumpsuit?  I've got two, but looking to amend that anytime soon - there's always room for another one or three *wink, wink*!

I borrowed this black and silver choker from middle daughter, it's a Primark cheapy but looks spot on, only draw back it's so bloody small!  I can barely get it to reach round my neck!

This black crepe romper has very, yes very wide legs giving it a long dress kind of look and feel come to that, a tie waist, which could be exchanged for a rigid belt or even a chain belt would look fab!  Fitting in with the fabulous frilly theme that's raging everywhere atm, it has a frill around the top of the bust, which I'm afraid I didn't catch in these shots!  I have to add these were the first shots taken, by me on my own and 'on location' hehehe.  But I'll try to remember to hide the remote control in future - can you spot it?
Spaghetti straps which are great for warmer days, plus the obvious cover-up being my denim jacket.

I simple adore my denim jean jacket. It's an item I nearly always go back to for so many occasions -
I get SO much wear out of this and it's been around for ages.
I'd recommend a denim jean jacket as a staple for any over fifties jacket collection, they're in most shops and come in such a huge collection of colours, styles and fits, you could have one for everyday of the week or month come to that!
Check out these cool choices Next for £32, M & S for £49.50 or this alternative white option from Debenhams for £34.96.

"In the right denim a girl can conquer the world"!

Until Thursday it's been great 'chatting' ... X
