A Wrap Dress from Jenerique.

Morning all.
How are you my friends?

I’ve blinked and missed the weekend! Surely it’s only Friday? Ha ha, I’m joking really but to be honest with you my weekend was so busy it came and went in a flash!
Friday night I was back to ballroom. We took on a jive and as usual I picked it up quite well and throughly enjoyed the whole dance, well we only learnt half the routine and will finish it off next week.
On Saturday morning I helped my eldest daughter out and took one of her boys to football. After a last minute change of venue the game started in the rain, and fortunately I anticipated the wet weather and took my rain coat and umbrella. Alas it turned chilly by the end of the 40 minute game and I was rather happy to get home.
I soon warmed up as I went to my daughter’s house, the one who’s living with me whilst her house is extended, for a day of painting. We started with a base layer of mist spray which was the worst part of painting. Once all the upstairs rooms had one coat of the mist spray we started on a proper coat of paint, we went round all the rooms before returning home for an Indian takeaway and a much needed glass of bubbles.
The following day, after doing a clean for my daughter at her Air BNB, I went back to paint again, this time after finishing the landing I started on the downstairs. Another mist coat which is a watery half mix of paint was applied. It’s a big room with the kitchen, dining area and sitting room all in one place and although it took ages, we managed to get it all done. We’ll tackle that room in the week with proper paint and hope to see the difference in no time, painting a room really starts to make a room more like a liveable room doesn’t it? After a busy weekend of hard work it was wonderful to come home to a home cooked dinner of chicken, mushroom and leek pie served with baby roast potatoes, tender-stem broccoli and peas. Isn’t it nicer to have dinner cooked for you?
As you can imagine I didn’t have time to take photos, which is a real shame - I’ve been wearing so many wonderful autumnal outfits since I came home, so I’ll share a cute dress I took away with me to Sicily.

Sandal Season - #Chicandstylish #Linkup

Hi there.
Do you recognise me?

Well I’m another year older having just my big birthday.
I was 60 last Wednesday and didn’t want to reach this one at all. I’ve had a busy few days resulting in no blog post on Thursday. I thought I’d post the linkup today instead which will run to through to Thursday when there’ll be another one!

Back to the 60 thing, I now have to tick the next box don’t I! I certainly feel a lot older than when I reached 50! The body really does give out tel-tail signs doesn’t it. My knees have aged noticeably, they ache most days and I have to push myself really hard to go to the gym nowadays, I could easily give it up but know they’ll ache even more and most probably sieze up! Most of my joints ache daily, the annoying ones are in my hands, I like to ease them in hot water - do you have any tips or tricks to stave the progression of arthritis? Anyway enough of the moaning it’s time to talk birthdays.

So I’ve just looked back to check and realised I didn’t tell you about David’s birthday present. I’ve booked for us to return to Sicily for a long weekend. You can read about our little trip to Godfather land in 2022 here. I couldn’t think of anything he wanted or needed and felt a trip away just the two of us would be perfect - it’s good to escape normality and have a nice relaxing break isn’t it. Well I’d got it all planned for his birthday morning. He actually needed some aftershave so I bought a new bottle of his favourite Hugo Boss and carefully replaced the new bottle for an old one! I wrapped a note inside carefully replacing the packaging so it looked like it hadn’t been touched! On the note I’d printed this.

Happy 60th birthday.
You can replace this empty bottle of aftershave with a new one at the airport when we go away to Sicily!
Love Jacqui.

Imagine my surprise when he threw his hands in the air and said “Well that’s messed up my plans, I was going to give you the same gift on your birthday.” We had the same idea! Just shows how alike we’ve grown. So we’ve decided on adding an extra couple of days to our trip which will be heavenly. I’m so excited to travel back to this little Sicilian village high up in the mountains. 🖤
So fast forward to the night time when all the children were at ours for the birthday celebrations. Our turn to receive their present. We both had a parcel to open. In mine a ten euro note and in his a bottle of Portuguese rose and a letter. They had booked for us to have a long weekend in Porto! I’m also excited for this one as I’ve not been to Portugal and have always wanted to visit this interesting place, but the funny bit was that they too were going to send us to Sicily, but with both David and I sharing our intended idea with them in secret, which they couldn’t divulge to either of us, had to change to a different destination! Great minds think alike eh! lol!

Let’s get thinking of holiday attire, do you like my new sandals?

August Review

Hi there.
How are you all doing?

Wow, welcome September. How on earth did that happen? I’m still waiting for Summer to arrive and Autumn has rocked up instead. Maybe Mother Nature will be nice and friendly and share some good weather for the new season - I’m talking warm temperatures, nothing too hot and any rain to be had at nighttime please 🙏. Then I can wear suitable outfits for the odd hot flush that I’m still getting (it’s getting boring now)!

With that being said I’ve been wearing my favourite 'go to' styles over the past few days, wide leg trousers and blazers have a certain flair and it’s a style I feel so at home in.

It’s been a busy weekend for sure. Friday I went to my usual dance class, we learnt some Foxtrot steps, adding to my repertoire nicely. I just need an occasion to show them off now!
Saturday I spent the morning working at my daughters house. I’m very hands on and love to get involved with the labouring side of the build. They were stripping the roof of tiles and wood as it’s all got to come off in order for the extra building to make it a house! I was loading the wheelbarrow and unloading it into the skip. I have to admit to feeling great in the afternoon and didn’t even suffer the next day either.
I popped into town in the afternoon to return the broken sandals, alas they didn’t have any in store so I got a refund. I might look at some chunky trainers as I think they’ll be more worthy come the Autumn. I did come home with a few new pieces though. I’m planning on trying a capsule wardrobe and khaki is my preferred colour, so far I’ve got a new slinky skirt, a skinny jumper, a roll neck stretchy chiffon top that’s snakeskin and a khaki shirt dress - I’ve a gorgeous pair of green loafers that will team beautifully with them all. 🥰

As it’s the first Monday of the month this post is dedicated to last months styles, so welcome to the …
