What have you been up to?

So the bad weather didn’t arrive over the weekend (I’m sure they only ‘scaremonger’ us)! So I got the grass cut, both front and back, strimmed the edges and trimmed the willow tree. It’s at the entrance and when it’s so long it makes driving off hard to navigate! Now I’m not saying it’s the M25 down our road but I like to be able to see what’s coming along.  The garden looks nice and tidy now, and the pots are all in full bloom which is lovely. Shame it’s not been that hot to sit out in! David was working at our daughter’s house getting the garden ready for laying turf and also preparing a hard standing for their cars. It’s coming together nicely so before long the whole house will be finished - jeez I hope they don’t put it up for sale now! 😂

Can you believe it’s the beginning of August? This year really has flown by! Why is this year any different from previous ones? I think it’s because I’m so busy nowadays, the weeks roll into one and before long it’ll be Christmas. 

Now as it’s the first Monday of the month it’s time to look back at July’s posts to see what I’ve been wearing.

July Review.

Hello and welcome. 

Thanks for joining me today. 

I’ve had a lovely few days. Starting with lunch with my mum and sister on Thursday to a local hotel. We dined at Hempstead House which is about 3/4 hour away from me. I picked the burger and chips which was divine. I’ve added a piccy below. 

I ended up wearing an old maxi that looked a real picture. It was a dress I’d already worn to a wedding way back in 2022! I like to wear and rewear all my outfits, although it’s often harder to don a dress that’s been seen before but given a bit of time and different occasion it’s all good. Do you rewear your dresses again and again?

July review.

Good morning everyone.

Hope August started well for you!

The weather has been bloody awful here in the UK, so there's been no enjoyment of Summer outfits - I've resorted to wearing jeans recently and even wore a jacket out the other day!  What is the world coming to!

I managed to get dancing on Friday evening, the new dance was the Rumba and I grasped the basic steps okay but just struggled with the technique - it'll take much more than the one hour a week I practice, sadly I don't think that'll be happening anytime soon, I really don't have the time.

I've not much to report about Saturday and Sunday, I looked after Max for a couple of hours and had a tasty curry takeout on Saturday night whilst watching a mediocre film featuring Denzel Washington.  Most of his films are bangers but Fallen didn't really hit the spot for me or David, so it's not one I recommend!  I have bought a book to read though.  I can't remember the last time I bought a book, not that I've even started it yet.  It's the sequel to The boy in the Striped Pyjamas.  All the Broken Pieces is about secrets and atonement after Auschwitz and is narrated by Gretel, Bruno's guilt ridden sister!  I'll let you know what I think of it, but have any of you read it yet?

July Review.

I started the month with a warmer outfit because the weather was cooler than it should have been, and to be fair it didn't get much warmer as the month went on as my outfits will show.

I wanted to join the waistcoat crusade, but shamefully I still haven't got myself on the trend and am still looking - maybe I'll find one in the sale and keep it for the Indian summer we may probably wont have - Lol! Catch my similar look featuring a knitted vest top and wide leg trousers here.

June Review.

Morning my friends. 

Hope you have a good start to the week and the month for that matter, yes July already. 

Im a happy lady as all the kids are back home now and I’ve been catching up with all the stories from their week away.  Have you been away yet, or are you off soon? Do let know know where if you have or where you are going!  David and I are concentrating on the house build and it's coming along very nicely indeed.  The roof has been covered in felt and battens so is covered in, tiles will go on next and we need to look at windows.  It's taking shape and looks super, you can follow my journey via my Instagram account Mummabbuilds - do stop by and say hi. 👋

June Review.  

My month started with a favourite style of mine, these wide leg trousers made an appearance as the weather remained rather cold and chilly, June has been a mixed bag weather-wise and I hope now we're in July it will settle down and behave! 

July Review.

Good morning my friends.

Wow August already .... It's crazy to think we've arrived here, sad to think Summer is beginning to ebb away, I've even had mushrooms pop up in the garden - a sure sign that Augutmn is just around the corner.😢

With torrential rain at times over the weekend I starting to think Winter isn't far away - I've still got plenty of Summer dresses to wear and a host of BBQ's to enjoy.  I actually had to sit under my fur blanket yesterday and was very nearly tempted to put the heating on!

Friday night at ballroom dancing we learnt a new dance, the Samba!  I've never tried it before and simply loved it!  I picked it up really well and felt like I'd danced it previously, (I think I've been watching too much Strictly Come Dancing, and often secretly dance when nobody is watching). 🤣

We'll be finishing off the sequence next week before moving onto a new dance - but I'll keep practicing, well you never know SCD may want an over fifty blogger to compete one day!!!! 😉

Saturday morning I went with my Daughter-in-law to help look after my grand-daughter whilst she ran around with my grandson at his Little Kickers session - he spent most of the 45 mins running off in the other direction!  It was set up really well getting the little ones to collect cones, balance them whilst walking around obstacles and then following an obstacle course which ended with them kicking the ball into the goal.  All the kids loved it, but I think the most fun was had by my DIL ....😉

July Review.

Well it's been quite a busy month for Mummabstylish - way back at the beginning of the month we were celebrating my son winning the Doggett's Coat and Badge.  His hard training over the past couple of years paid off and we couldn't have been any happier for him.  Do pop back to read about our special day on the River Thames with our family and friends.  In support of his chosen colour we all wore white outfits.
