That was a fantastic weekend!

Hello my darlings,
Hope you’re well.

I’ve had a fan-tastic weekend and to be honest really needed it!

Both David and I worked hard at our youngest son’s house clearing a very overgrown garden. We filled a skip full to debris having chopped and cut lots of trees, shrubs and plants that had been left to multiply! We were both exhausted and returned home to chill in the garden. David suggested we head off into town to have dinner so almost reluctantly we both got ourselves ready for the taxi ride to Canterbury which took us to our restaurant. Salt Steak House served various steaks, chickens with delicious side dishes which all sounded divine. I picked their ribeye special which came with chips, salad and a portion of bread. I have to say I was very good and only had half the chips along with the steak and salad, at no point did I touch the bread!
We settled on a bottle of champagne which went down very nicely indeed. Once finished we both passed on desserts, so after paying the bill headed off to one of the many pubs in the city to have another cheeky glass of fizz. This one lacked atmosphere so once we’d finished our drinks we made our way to my favourite venue which served Porn Star Martinis - what a delicious cocktail and one I’d throughly recommend! Do you have a ‘go-to’ cocktail?

Sunday was another lovely day, somewhat more chilled with a spot of grass cutting and dinner prep for a roast dinner. It was only going to be David and I but my eldest daughter popped round with her family and decided to stay for dinner, we managed to make the chicken go round a couple more mouths, it’s amazing how adding more vegetables and a packet of frozen Yorkshire’s will make a meal stretch further.

Izabel Sundress - Chic & Stylish Linkup.

Good morning.
How’s it going?

All good here albeit still very busy!
I think it’s a culmination of gym, grankids being on holiday and doing the AirBnb work! But the weeks seem to be flying by at a scary speed. Can you believe we’re nearly in the middle of August!

Do you recall I looked after my son’s dog? I loved it and she was so good for us. I did nearly lose her once when she escaped the garden when I turned my back! She was so quick and I nearly had a heart attack thinking I’d have to tell them she was lost or worse still! Gulp, in an accident! Fortunately all was well and she’d gone down the road and was running around someone’s garden. A very kind couple gathered her up and came looking for us (luckily coming in the right direction)! So I kept a very good eye on her after that and put her on the lead at every opportunity! Not that she liked that! But I had to keep my sanity going! Do you look after anyone’s animals? Let me know if you do and if you’ve had any mishaps too! So she’s back at home safe and sound now, I’m planning on having the grandkids at some stage so fingers crossed I won’t have to worry about losing either of them!!! lol.

I had a nice sunny day yesterday, so took full advantage of it taking these fab shots in this pretty sundress.

60th Birthday Celebrations.

Hiya 👋
You okay?

Hope you’ve had a super week, have you had good weather? We’ve had it a bit hotter and somewhat humid so on Friday night we had one almighty storm! We turned the lights off and watched the lightening light up the sky as if it was daytime! The claps of thunder signed it was right above us at times but fortunately we didn’t have too much rain so no danger of flooding. Of course by the next morning apart from a few puddles there was no sign of anything happening!

I went to a party on Saturday night. It was my best friends’s 60th celebrations and she had an enchanting garden party complete with pretty flowers and fairy lights.
It was a lovely evening chatting with old friends and finding new ones - the ones you feel you already know because you’ve heard so much about them! We dancing ate and drank until the early hours and succumbed to the tired feelings that enveloped us all catching a taxi at 1 am! Wow what a way to celebrate your 60th but I needed the slow day on Sunday to recoup and get back to normal!

Always there to share good and bad times with a friendship that has never wained!

I wore this maxi dress but should have taken a little jacket with me as the wind didn’t retreat in the afternoon and made it seem so much colder. The food was delicious, I took a homemade pâté which went down really well - I’ve got some orders in for Christmas already! 😂

Sun Dress, Thread Earrings & Chic & Stylish Linkup.

Hello and welcome to my blog.
It's good to have you here my friends.
Happy Birthday to me!  Yes it's my birthday today, this is 61!

How's the last few days been?
With the weather turning warmer here it's been lovely to wear some summer clothes.  I've taken full advantage of the sunshine by wearing some little Tee shirts and have picked up a little bit of colour!  The only problem is my legs are still a pasty white.  I need to get my usual tanning mousse - St Moriz which I love. It’s easy to use and is streak free and I’ve spoken about it on here before. They also have a face tanning spray which I swear by! I just give a couple of sprays on top of my makeup before I go out, it slowly builds up a nice healthy glow. X

I’ve got a cute little sun dress to share with you today. It’s a perfect style for summer holidays, or weekends away when a leisurely walk around the town or by the beach when this beautiful dress will be raising eyebrows and claim lots of charming comments.

February Review.

Good morning everyone.
How’s it going?
Welcome to my first blog post of the month and welcome to March!
This weekend really did seem like the beginning of Spring as the weather was so nice. Mind you, It was still really cold but working outside with the sun on my face was a real treat! David and I have still been cutting the hedge. It’s not as cut and dried as just cutting things down though, there’s raking, shredding and loading into a skip to contend with so on Saturday night we were both knackered!  We’re still following a Keto diet so decided on a cheeky takeaway again which I hasten to add was Keto friendly. On a very good plus side I’ve found out that Prosecco is one of the drinks that you can have on this diet, so long as calories are counted so I’ve been a happy bunny finding this out!
I’m planning on a trip to the cinema to watch Bridget Jones - Mad About the Boy, however I embarrassed to admit I’ve not actually watched all the previous films only have I seen the first one a couple of times! I’m not even sure why to be honest, just not my cup of tea, but I’m suffering a bit of fomo so I’m binge watching all the films before I visit the local cinema in order to know just what’s going on in this one!! 😂

Sunday was a more relaxed affair, I helped my daughter out with her AirBNB and after David finished trimming the part of the hedge I couldn’t get to last year, we popped to Sainsbury’s to grab something for dinner. We came home with a small joint of beef and some veg that we roasted. He made a gravy that was fairly good (had to use
Xanthan Gum - Keto friendly) so all in all it was a nice dinner and I was stuffed! I ended the evening with the last Bridget Jones film I’d missed!

Anyway back to this month’s review.
I usually take a look back on what I shared over the previous month, so welcome and thanks for stopping by to read my ….
February Review.

Back at the beginning of the month I shared this fancy jumper that’s covered in a beautiful collection of pearls.
I’m sure this winter white look wasn’t the best choice for many of the days last month due to the wet weather, but I’m excited to think this month might be perfect for it.

A Tea Dress for Brunch.

Hi there,
How are you today?

Glad to have you here, it certainly means a lot.
Who else loves wearing a dress, especially a lovely floaty version that’s perfect for afternoon tea. Well what about wearing a tea dress for Sunday brunch?

I’ve been kindly gifted this feminine beauty from Izabel London recently and decided to wear it on Fathers Day when we had a fun and busy day with the faimly.
We started off going to a local restaurant for brunch.  It's a venue we've been to before, in fact my daughter took me there for my Mother's Day treat back in March.  It was a hot morning, so we decided to eat in the garden.  There were many people there with a couple of them having dogs.  I don't mind having dogs at a restaurant, especially when they are outside, however the one of them wasn't 'small child friendly' so Max couldn't walk around as he'd like to have done.  The waitress who served us didn't seem particularly 'au fait' with her job and it took a while after she came to our table to place the order.  We must have waited nearly an hour for drinks and then a further 20 mins for our food to arrive, which I must add some things she got wrong!  The food was nice, but the whole experience wasn't up to our usual standard, which the owner explained was a result of us arriving for a 10.15 table (along with a whole load of other customers) and as it was Father's Day service took longer than normal!  At no point did she admit to being sorry and understanding our situation, which has left a bad taste in my mouth and I feel reluctant to go there again!

Anyway, after having a decent classic breakfast (the sausages were very tasty) we came home and popped to our local for a couple of drinks.  It was nice to sit outside in the fresh air, where David and I could chat and catch up somewhere different.  Two drinks later we came home for me to change my shoes and went to my eldest's house where all the family have a curry delivered.  There was lots of talk about forthcoming holidays, one daughter is off to Glastonbury and the other two are away to Greece next weekend, so it'll be a quiet few days with them all gone, especially with my son & his family are away to Center Parks as well!

December Review.

Hiya, and welcome to Mummabstylish and welcome to the first post of 2023!

How did your weekend go?
Mine was both chilled and busy.  Nothing much happening on Friday as dancing isn't on until next week and I'm going to be ready for it.  Saturday was my grandson's birthday, so we went to see him after he'd been out for the day with my daughter and her family.  We stayed for a take out pizza and returned home to watch Maverick and see in the New Year.  It was really chilled and relaxed and just what we needed to be honest.
On Sunday we had a roast with some of the kids and my mum.  A normal hectic day which was wonderful as always.  The weather has been pants here, tipping it down one minute and dry the next, typical British weather eh!
Today I'm sure I'll be getting ready to get back to normal and hopefully get some classes booked at the gym as I'm starting my diet this week, wish me luck!  I'm looking forward to styling and using some of my Christmas presents, I got a couple of nice pieces along with some new lighting for my dressing room.  I'm hoping my photos indoors will be much better using it.
Have a chilled day and I'm excited to see you on Thursday for the first #Linkup of 2023.

It's the first Monday of the year and can only mean it's also the first Monday of the month and that can only mean looking back at December for the ....

Drinks at The Old Neptune.

Hi there, how are you?

I've been feeling really tired over the past few days.  With my busy weekend away being the foundation the rest of my week and weekend have compounded it - I've had nights out, late nights and hectic days trying to get all my Christmas shopping done (I've still not finished 😧).  It's the same every year, but this one feels particularly harder!
Anyway let's brush over that and move onto more interesting matters.  I had a lovely afternoon out yesterday celebrating a friends birthday.  Drinks in a local pub on the beach was the order of the day, and as always, I had brilliant fun with them.
As it's so chilly I decided to go with trousers and boots and what better time to wear my stunning new blouse from Izabel London.

November Review.

Morning my friends.
How the heck are you?

Have you got into the festive mood yet?  I'm definitely getting full of Christmas spirit and most probably plenty of Prosecco and Jager's too!  I've had a weekend in Germany and will be travelling home today, let's hope the power of a scheduled post works and this is published!

It's the first Monday of the month, so as usual I'm sharing my posts from the past month in the ....
November Review.

At the beginning of November I was just getting over a really horrible chest infection, it was so bad I needed antibiotics which is almost unheard of for me.  I'm very lucky and seem to get over colds and coughs really easily, but what started with a sore throat, cough and cold ended up in a full blown chest infection.  Anyway I digress.
I went out for lunch with my sister and our mum for her birthday treat.  We dined at a local venue having two courses and a couple of glasses of fizz.  We had a super few hours and as usual put the world to rights as we ate and drank.  I wore this snazzy Geo print dress that's covered in bright, bold shades of blue, black and cream.  Do pop back and find out all about it.

What to wear for a Birthday Lunch - #Chiandstylish #LINKUP

Hi everyone.
How's it going in your neck of the woods?

I'm just starting to feel normal after having a horrible chest infection.  I've never had one before and it really did take hold and made me feel really unwell.  I've got two more days of antibiotics - one a day which I've never heard of before!
I'm attempting ballet this morning and after having done nothing since the Monday-before-last I think I'll probably struggle.  I'll take my time and rest if I can't carry on, do wish me luck!

So as you can imagine I've not taken many photos over the past week, but had these waiting in the wings from last Friday.
They were taken when I went out with my sister and mum to a local restaurant for our mum's birthday lunch.  I wasn't on top form, but felt I couldn't let her down.  I ended up having a super meal and a brilliant time and although we didn't stay long, all of us had good fun chatting, laughing and planning future outings.

Style Not Age Share ... "Orange you Excited for Halloween"

Morning my friends.
How are you?

I've been suffering with a bad cough and cold for the past week and have been well and truly out of sorts.  I finally went to the doctor on Saturday and after a 2 1/2 hour wait I was prescribed antibiotics for a chest infection.  I hate being unwell and don't have much patience for it ... lol!
I've got my fingers crossed that it'll be on it's way out soon so I can get back to normal!

I've had a couple of birthdays over the past few of days, it was my mum's on Friday and my second eldest daughter's yesterday.  My sister and I took mum out for lunch to a local restaurant.  It was yummy and delicious and we certainly had a lovely experience in the fine dining venue.  Mum was so impressed with  The Tylers Kiln, she's booked a table just before Christmas when my uncle visits her.
Yesterday Emily wanted us to go bowling, so we had a couple of hours with all the family enjoying some fun at our local bowing alley.  We ended the day with a takeaway, it was nice to not have to cook too.

But shall we get back to today's task?  It's the end of the month so it's time to take a look at what my four friends have been styling around my prompt of ....

Orange you Excited for Halloween!

This month it was my choice, & as the challenge fell on 31st October it felt right to base the prompt around Halloween.
Orange always reminds me of Halloween - probably because pumpkins are orange and play an important part in this annual event.  It's not a shade I choose very often, but still like to include it occasionally, so when I spotted this dress on the Izabel website I thought that would be a perfect wear for Autumn - what do you think?

Wearing my Izabel Dress to a Wedding.

Morning my friends.
How you doing today?

I've had a lovely week, with a wedding on Thursday and a lovely dinner with friends on Saturday night.
We have the next stint of birthdays coming up starting with mine next Sunday.  I'm planning on having friends and family round for some drinks and nibble - it'll be the first time I've celebrated a birthday properly since the beginning of Covid and I'm really excited to see everyone together.  I've put my order in for a big birthday cake from my daughter - you can see what she baked me last year.  I've asked for a Victoria sponge but the rest will be a surprise, I love a surprise do you?

It's the season of weddings isn't it and I have three in the space of 3 months, so when I was asked by Izabel London if I'd like to pick something from the website I had fun looking through their pretty items.
My eyes fell upon this stunner so I looked no further!
