Black Trousers a Top Ten Must- #Chicandstylish #LINKUP

Morning my friends.
This over fifty blogger is getting a tad fed up with the weather now - why wont it just go away and let the sun shine? With that said I've woken up to glorious sunshine today, but with ever changeable weather who knows what this afternoon will bring!
It's been a quiet month for Mummab, but I'm on the countdown to a really busy April, May and June.  There's two weekend's away with a string of birthdays in April followed by the Hen & Stag weekends culminating in my son's wedding in June - with a few more birthday scattered about it'll be a hectic few months I'm sure.  My first trip is to Valmorel for a couple of days skiing.  If you follow the blog you'll know I'm a keen skier, and love to go 'play in the snow' at every opportunity - catch my recent visit to Italy (pre-Coronavirus).  As I'm only going for a few days I don't need much, so an overnight case will suffice.  Driving down through France re-creates our previous holidays with the kids years ago, I have fond memories, although at the time I'm sure it was hard work with 5 kids.  My daughter is coming with us, so it will be good to re-live some of the memories with her.  In my case will be a couple of pairs of jeans, ski gear, two nice tops/blouses and a pair of comfy boots - so excited I'm going to pack this weekend - ha ha!

Today's outfit is a very classic style, one that I'd love to wear all the time.  The black wide leg trousers have to be on my top ten 'must haves'.  They are a timeless addition to any wardrobe and I have two pairs that I circulate.  One from Bonmarche - see them styled with this beautiful sunflower blouse,  & these I'm sharing today are from Florence and Fred.  I've had them a while and have to say they are a tad too long, but with a high boot I can still get away with it.

Style not Age - Flower Power.

Hi there my friends.
Thanks for popping by today.
You're just in time to check out the latest offerings from the Style not Age collective & guess what?
We have a new member!
A big warm welcome to Gail - Is This Mutton.  If you don't already follow her blog you might remember she was an original member of the 5 Over 50 group.  So she's back with us to share her take on our monthly challenges

Let's waste no time in getting to the challenge.
It fell into the lap of Hilda this month and she's given us a popular choice for the new season ...
Flower Power
Florals play an important part in every season, but I have to say Spring florals are my favourite.  Spreading a happy vibe when worn, they can't help but make us think of warmer weather and bright flowery gardens, bee's and birds floating on a warm breeze & that's where I got my incentive from.

Styling Caramel Trousers with Pale Blue & Denim.

Morning my friends.
All good with MummaB & I do hope everything is good with you too!
I've been out for ANOTHER afternoon tea at the weekend.  Relishing the delights of the Sands Hotel with friends made for a great Saturday afternoon, not even the dreary pouring rain could spoil the fun for myself and three friends - basically enjoying the company of what we call 'Friday night wives' - just to clarify with you, we're a group of ladies who's husbands get together in the local pub every Friday night!  We decided to join forces and enjoy some time together on OUR own.  This was the second attempt as many of us couldn't make the last date which ended up being cancelled!  However last Saturday four of us were ready, willing and able to have a fun cream tea with a cheeky bottle of fizz to seal the fun!  With non-stop rain all day, the only thing I wanted to wear was jeans, boots and a warm and waterproof coat!  The outfit I'm sharing with you today is one that I would have preferred to wear for the girly occasion, so as I already had these photos I thought why not share it with you instead!
The outfit is based around the tapered style caramel trousers that I picked up in the F & F Sale - I know they'll just work with loads I already have hanging in my wardrobe (you might have seen my IG stores a while back where I kept finding new pieces to wear with them).

Lotus Shoes Espadrilles & Gypsy Style Dress.

Morning all!
What you been up to?
Starting to get back to normal in the MummB household, just waiting for the honeymooner's to get home and share some of their memories, then as of Saturday I'll be out of office and on a weeks holiday to relax and re-cov ....... hang on ... no I'm with the grandkids so I don't think there'll be much R & R going on! Lol.  We're off for a week to Majorca, in the Med.  Praying for nice weather as we'll be around the pool for most of the days.  Princess has learnt to swim and will be getting plenty of practise, while my little prince will be enjoying the pool, slides and spray machines xxx.  We know he'll love it as his mummy and daddy took him to an open air swimming pool recently and he was in his element.  So maybe I will be able to catch a few rays and enjoy a few drinks after all. 😉

With my holiday I mind, I've started to collect my outfits together - most are too big so I've been eyeing up the shops to find replacements.  Popping into F & F the other day, I just had to peruse, well - the whole section.  I found this cute gypsy styled dress in the sale no less, and thought I'd try it.  I think it makes me look a bit dumpy - what do you think? .... a keeper or not?

Item marked with * have been gifted to me, however these are 100% my own honest comments.

Lounging around in a Lounge suit - #chicandstylish #linkup

Morning all.
Everything going well in the land of Mummb blogging.  I've been having a lazy few days, which were much needed I must say.  The past few weeks have gradually slowed down and I've been able to concentrate a little more on blogging without feeling guilty that I should be doing something else.
I've been taking advantage of wearing this lounge suit to sit back and unwind in.

Now I have to hold my hands up to say I'm off skiing again for the weekend so this will come in handy for my Apres ski antics.  I'm off with hubby for a cheeky little jaunt to the ski resort of Valmorel to enjoy the slopes one more time this year - that's if the kids let us out the country! ha ha ha!

Leopard and Leather, what better combination?

Hi there lovelies, how's it going in over fifties land?
Another busy weekend starting on Friday evening.  Did I tell you I've started Ballroom dancing?  So far I've been to three classes and absolutely love it.  Every year watching Strictly Come Dancing I really want to tread the boards and learn to ballroom, so when my best friend asked if I'd like to join her I though what the heck and just went for it!  Forty five minutes of learning basic steps, ending in dancing to music for about 5 mins at the end of the class, the teacher and his wife take turns in partnering the singletons which makes me feel like I'm actually dancing properly.  Watch out I might make SCD one day - well if a vlogger can compete there might be a chance for an enthusiastic blogger eh?

Saturday I had my third adult ballet exam!  It's only taken us about a year to learn an arm sequence, foot enchainement and a short dance - you'd have thought we'd had to learn a full on ballet!  Finally it all came together and the numerous "have you practised" "I've forgotten it" and "what do we do next" calls from the past weeks evaporated!  We all remember the steps and flew through the routines.  I'll keep you posted as to how I got on as soon as I find out. 🤞

With animal print still very much in the limelight, I bought this sassy little leopard print tee shirt from H & M before my recent skiing holiday.  Keeping it plain with black easy to wear pieces, and there's no better companion to leopard print than leather look accessories namely my new faux jacket.

Style Not Age - Our January Jumpers!

Morning - just in time for the new challenge of the year from the ladies of the Style Not Age collective.
Having literally just returned from skiing in The Alpes I have to say I'm finding it hard to get back into blogging mode right now.  Last week on the slopes the temperature reach -14 at times (yes bloody cold) although the skiing conditions of bright blue skies & brilliant sunshine somewhat made up for it.  I thought I was fairly fit, but have really felt my age over the past few days with plenty of aches and pains in all sorts of places!  Back to normality now, so I'm feeling suitably miserable to be back home, back to reality with a mountain of housework and washing to contend with - the only upside is seeing the kids, grandkids, my family oh & my little dog Roxy. 💗

My blogging friend & challenge setter Anna has been a busy bee recently as have Emma & Hilda, but we've all managed to pull it out the bag for this months challenge -
Our January Jumpers.
I just had to style this vibrant knitted piece, my ideal winter jumper.  You see it's cashmere and my first ever at that.

Grey stripes and white jeans. #chicandstylish #linkup

Morning dear bloggers.

Are you feeling the chill?
Yes me too, it got decidedly colder on Sunday, so hubby switched the heating on.  After being away over night and waking up to horrendous wind and rain it was much appreciated when I walked through the door, in tee shirt and sandals!  I'd been with my girls on a hen night.  We went to a spa hotel on the coast for a day of pampering and a super evening meal.  I had one hell of a luxurious facial, leaving my skin fresh and clean - It felt amazing.  I've made a pact with myself to have one every month.
After an afternoon of fun, laughs, relaxation and chatter, I made my way up to the gorgeous room to get ready.  Included in the stay was a three course meal comprising of chicken and ham hock terrine, roasted chicken supreme, tarragon mousse, potato gnocchi & charred baby courgettes with a tomato jus.  This was rounded off with a cheeky lemon posset and an extra glass of prosecco, savoured all the more because I've been dieting!  You have to treat yourself sometimes don't you?
Generally a quiet night with a couple of quizzes about the hen and a show & tell kind of game, giving the hen a gift that means something to both parties, either funny or meaningful.  I was baffled with this one, but eventually remember the time she worked as a delivery driver for a local supermarket - her boss got a call to say she was stuck in a field whilst following the sat nav.  She had to be towed out & I don't think the shopping got delivered. She never really lived that one down!! Lol.

Now the weather is so changeable Needing extra layers now that Autumn has arrived,  so let me share this cute tunic jumper with you.

Everyone should own a red dress!

Morning fellow bloggers.
This post should really have gone out over the weekend, but I seemed to be engrossed in so much other 'stuff' it got pushed to the back of the queue!
Saturday was filled with shopping for Christmas presents (I managed to purchase four great bargains!) a visit to our princess <3, accompanied my mum to a music presentation - topped off with a get-together for my nephew's birthday.  All in all a busy day with a late night thrown in.
A very tired Mummab on Sunday.
No roast dinner was a blessing, so I managed to watch the last in the season Grand Prix - this had me on the edge of my seat a couple of times, however the result was really a foregone conclusion by the last few laps - Lewis won the race, but Rosburg won the championship!
After a lazy day on the sofa, I tucked into a wonderful take away curry, enjoying both that and Strictly Come Dancing.  I love the glitz, glamour, dancing and entertainment of this show and I always say that in my second life I'd like to have been a professional dancer - but happy with my hourly fix once a week!  Although that wont be the case this week as I had a rather unfortunate 'accident' on Sunday evening......
You see I'd been cleaning in my son's room, pulling his bed out and changing the duvet.
Having a break from this I settled down to watch my favourite telly program, then I completely forgot about it!
Some half hour or so later I realised I'd left the window open so I quickly ran to close it in the ad break - in the dark, jumping over the duvet but forgetting the bed was still pulled out, you guessed it I ran and smacked my foot full force into the edge of his bed. Ouchy wah wah indeed!  I'm now the not-so-proud owner of a rather bruised foot and toe, along with a little limp!  Only able to wear my Ugg boots - that'll be interesting outfit options for the next few days lol.

Do you agree with me that everyone should own a red dress?

How to wear a delicate blouse in cold weather.

Hello fashion bloggers over fifty - and how are you doing?

Lunching with a couple of friends today, one I've not seen for a while so it will be good to catch up.

I'm always on the look out for suitable outfits for my over fifties fashion blog so whilst out shopping last week I spotted this gorgeous sheer blouse in the Matalan sale,  I was drawn by the pretty colours, but wasn't sure if it would be a suitable garment to wear in the colder months.
I had an idea and quickly purchased said top, feeling rather happy with the bargain I'd bagged.
To be fair I would normally wear a little Cami t shirt underneath for two reasons, firstly it being very sheer fabric I'm not a fan of see-through tops, and secondly for extra warmth.
But my idea, probably not very original, but a first for me none-the-less, a white roll neck jersey jumper beneath the blouse - ta da!  How good does this blouse look? matching the background colour just makes the flowers stand out more, and what rich colours they are!

The delicate fabric has a pretty floral design over it, in shades of pink, burgundy and  green.   With a tie neck detail around the collar and tiny gold button fastening at the cuff.
Selecting the burgundy in the blouse, burgundy seemed the right choice for leg wear.  These straight leg trousers also from Matalan are only £16!  Other colours available are black and blue a great staple for your wardrobe that can be matched with so many different blouses, jackets and jumpers the different outfits you can concoct are endless!

Borrowed middle daughters fur gilet/vest, which I think finished off this look brilliantly.  The colours and texture mixed so well, making an impressive statement look.   The fur gilet was from H and M last year, however I've spotted these just about everywhere and frankly I want them all.  From Tesco to Debenhams they have prices to please most pockets - so grab a perfect addition that you won't be sorry you bought.

Do you remember the boots? My sale bargain from Florence and Fred. How can you forget them I seem to be wearing them all the time - so comfortable, stylish and a great neutral colour, I want to get the best use from them before the really bad weather arrives, when I won't be wearing them so much.  I have sprayed them with protector, which is a really good idea, especially for a suede boot.

The photos we very kindly taken by my god-daughter Esther Ruby, and I can't thank her enough for the time and patience she puts into making them look super.

You can really see that pretty details on this sheer blouse.  I love the colours across it.
The delightful flowers over it are so on point at the moment, and I'll still be able to wear this come the spring, with the aforementioned Cami t shirt.

Off to get ready for my girly lunch, I'll catch up again in the week.

One last word - good luck with black Friday, hope you get all you want.

Wednesday wearing pink.

Good Morning friends.
How's it going?

What a dismal day yesterday was,  so a quick visit into town was on the cards for me.  Yay, I managed to dodge the rain.
I don't know about you but stores seem to change their fashion collections quicker than they ever have before.  One week you spot something, the next time you shop it's gone and no sign of it on the Internet for some items either!  So the old saying of 'get it before it's gone' rings true now more than ever.
That being said isn't it nice to enjoy new colours and ideas more frequently?
So brightening up my dismal rainy day yesterday was eyeing some new colours I'd not thought about before.  The likes of Deep forest green silk blouses with gorgeous ruffles running down the sides, a pretty pale lilac slinky trumpet sleeve blouse (personal favourite)  lime green velour tops and a petrol blue dress, all making excellent additions in any wardrobe especially an over 50 fashion blogger.
Try wearing the forest green with blue trousers, the petrol blue dress over a t shirt and leggings or the lilac blouse under a grey sleeveless dress.  You CAN have fun mixing and matching.
Give one of these colours a go and see what fun YOU can have matching it to items already in your closet.

Forest Green ruffle blouse
H and M
£29.99

Petrol Blue Strappy dress
H and M
£7.99

Heather Trumpet sleeve blouse
H and M
£17.99

Going along with the theme of matching a fresh colour choice to your closet to see how it can be styled,  yesterday I did just that...

I spotted this pink jumper on special offer in H and M, how can you go wrong with a ten pound jumper?  I know I've got umpteen necklaces and even more scarfs that will all be queueing to get a look in on the act of compiling a stylish outfit for a bargain price.
Try to think outside the box just literally throwing items together on the bed to see if they work, add in a necklace or bracelet to see if it blends or pops.  Both work equally well for different outfits and occasions, it's just a case of seeing what you like.  Remember we are all different so no one is right or wrong - what works for one person may not for another!

Pale pink making a subtle statement along side black and white trousers, these are previous season from Florence and Fred, black and white are a great staple buy for trousers and are everywhere in the stores now, grab a pair and you'll find they can fit into so many colour arrangements - and you'll have fun finding them.
Now in recent years I would probably have opted for a plain black scarf, but no! Not now I'm spreading my wings and being a bit daring - I'm mixing in another pattern!!  Oh blimey some of your advice (other bloggers that is) is starting to sink in!
The scarf in question is a cheapie from Primark.  I recommend you'll find at least two or three in Primark that will match items in your wardrobe, jazzing up a plain, boring outfit.

Check out this cuff detail, I'm loving how it hangs like an undone cuff, revealing a stunning sparkly beaded bracelet.  These little details add so much to the overall look - making a plain jumper a real snazzy statement.

So what do you think of my outfit?   Have you have any bargains recently that have made many stunning outfits?  I love to hear from you if you have.

Until the next post .... Bye, bye  X

Happy 1st November.

Morning all.

It sure does seem like the 1st November when I took a look outside this morning.  Crisp cold air met my face in a cooling, soothing way.  The dew on the grass left a fine sheen and the mushrooms popping up to greet the pale sky looked inviting, but I know from previous experience they are not to be eaten, but are poisonous!
Hubby and I found them last year too, looking the perfect fungi, but upon a little research we found that when scraped or marked an ugly yellow appeared - not good, not to be eaten!  How do you rid your garden of such unwelcome blight? Anyone got any ideas?

On to today, I got up very excited to have my hair coloured, coiffed and teased today, but have gotten the dates wrong - it's tomorrow!  Pony tail it is then.
Have a million and one jobs to do now (slight exaggeration) so not much time for blogging today.

So is it safe to mention the 'c' word yet??  She's says hiding behind the sofa in fear of flying cushions!
It will be everywhere (if not already) now Halloween has been and gone.  Yes, about Halloween - I've got treats in the cupboard patiently waiting for eager hands to fill their baskets and bags but no-one visited!!  I'm positive they won't stay in there for long, someone's going find them!  How was your Halloween?  Some of the photos I've spotted on social media are amazing, real true talent out there.

Today's look is rather laid-back, I just pulled on my old faithful default skinnies from H and M, along with my navy turtle neck jersey tunic from the Matalan sale, with a long line cardi over the top, great for the running around today.  This was all linked in with a 'go to' scarf to liven up my look.  This beauty was for Christmas last year from a selection that Mango were offering in their pre-season sale.
You know the scenario "I'd like that from someone for Christmas, If I go and look over there, perhaps someone can by it for me" hint, hint. lol.  Does that happen to anyone else??

How do you like my Autumnal Wreath?  I've been seeing these all over the blogs and IG accounts lately, but can't seem to find anything locally,  they are truly beautiful, bringing a touch of the woods to your door-step.  So I decided to have a go myself!
This afternoon I managed to 'throw together' - (clearly it actually took me ages!) this one.  I collected some pieces from a local shop, twinned them together with tape and ribbon, making a couple of bows along the way, and voila my hard work looks half acceptable. What-do-ya-reckon?

OK off to prepare dinner, but don't forget to visit tomorrow, as I can finally let you in on my secret!
Until then, a rather excited fashion blogger for the over 50's signing off...

Weekend Wish list.

Morning ladies ( and gents).

So happy for the weekend to have arrived - rather quickly I hasten to add.  Although that's good isn't it!

Excited to be out, out tonight - dinner with friends we've not seen for ages, so that will be fab to catch up with them, enjoy a great meal and have a 'couple' of drinky poos as well!

What to wear is my brain tease at the moment......
I'm visualizing me in the recent purchase from M and S, a black blouse with lace sleeves and half lace yoke. It also has the very popular frills down either side - it's so stylish, but with a classic base, I haven't tried it on yet so until I do the jury is out on that one!  Either teamed with a skirt or possibly dark jeans/trousers - let's see what fits first!!!

Thinking today I'd share something that's on my wish list with you.

Have you seen all the leather or faux leather skirts on your travels and on the internet?  Been spotting them everywhere from Florence and Fred to M and S, and for that matter most places in between!

Here's a few to get you going.

Starting with Florence and Fred, here's a straight forward pencil skirt in faux leather for the bargain basement price of £16!  See here for details.

How about this from Zara. this has two zip pockets and a high waist (always flattering) for £25.99. See here for all the information.

Finally this stunning dark wine leather A line skirt, coming in at £199, top end for some people but a timeless classic you'll wear time and time again over the years. You can see it here from Marks and Spencer.

So what's on your wish list?  I'd love to hear from you whether it's a leather skirt, leather bag or just a chamois leather for your car! Ha ha.

Watch out on IG here to see what I end up wearing tonight - fingers crossed the top fits!

Bye for now X

Wednesday in the Woods.

Wishing you all a Good Morning.

If you saw my post on Monday catch it here you'll remember my beautiful god-daughter, who is a keen photographer - was kind enough to take some blog shots for me.  Today I'm happy to show you some more pictures from my 'photo shoot' in the local woods.  We had some laughs at me changing tops in the bushes - and dodging the dog walkers (could of been rather embarrassing), also using the branches to hang the clothes up that kept bending over. Lol.
