How are you?
Last week of May which means as it’s Monday I’ll be sharing the post with Anna, Emma and Hilda for the monthly Style not Age challenge.
Before I share the prompt let me tell you about my weekend. It started on Friday with a return to dancing after a week off. We’ve been learning the waltz and I’m loving this one (I know I say that every time) but it really was a beautiful routine with lots of turns and sways making it look very pretty, I just needed a full skirt and bouffant hairstyle.
Saturday morning I was up early and set about trimming the hedge, yes that hedge. It’s an ongoing saga that needs doing soon after I’ve finished the last bit - a bit like the Forth bridge! I’d cut the grass first which wasn’t too bad as without much rain recently its not grown very much. I got it done fairly quickly to be honest. The hedge is another matter, I have to get up on a metal podium to reach over to the back, it’s a tough job and I don’t honestly know how long I’m going to be able to do it! The most annoying thing is the straggly branch’s that hang over the neighbours garden! I can’t reach them and often wait for them to cut them off, but until now, they’ve never touched them! I reckon it gets my OCD going!!
Yesterday I didn’t do too much as I was really achy! I ended up doing a few jobs in the house along with cleaning the Airbnb. That didn’t take long the hardest bit was trying to find a parking space! The town was packed with plenty of day trips enjoying the sunshine, have you ever been to Whitstable?
In the afternoon I went to my daughters for a BBQ as it was her husband’s birthday. With plenty to eat and drink whilst sitting in the sunshine was wonderful, the weather was amazing and very hot! My tan is gradually making a very small appearance … lol!
So back to the prompt, Anna set the challenge and she’s chosen a very apt topic of … From Spring to Summer.
I’ve got lots of items that carry me through Spring to Summer, things like my lightweight trousers and little jackets along with my jeans and tee shirts, but this particular jacket has been by my side quite a lot over the transitional period. I know it’ll be really useful for cooler summer days when it can turn a bit cooler, so this is my pick for today’s challenge.
This pretty jacket has never made an appearance on here. So it’s time to address that. Isn’t it a pretty little thing?
It’s a sheer fabric that’s got long sleeves and a front zipper. It’s lightweight and covered in appliqué style leaves and petals. I love that is plain white, it goes with so much and will look fab popped on over a sun dress or skirt like mine. Sliders were the footwear of the day, I like the lighter feel and hot feet don’t like to be hemmed in do they. These are previous season from Lotus Shoes. They have a lovely sparkly collection of diamantés across the front making them very expensive looking, for a fraction of the price. These are very similar.
My outfit comprises of a full white skirt, that’s cotton and very cooling. I put a little cami on as it was so hot yesterday. I have to admit I took denim shorts to the bbq, which was much better to chase the kids around and I was even tempted to have a jump on the trampoline! 😂 I didn’t do it though!
Anna - Anna’s Island Style chose the title so let’s start with her first. Her bright and beautiful dungarees have been her go-to from Spring to Summer and I can see why she’d pick them, can you?
Next up it’s Hilda’s pick. Find out more on her blog Over the Hilda.
Finally Emma - Style Splash looks amazing in this edgy crochet top. It’s on top of the fashion trend at the moment so well done to Emma x
