How weird it’s the end of March.
Didn’t that month go by in a flash! I’m interested to create next Monday’s March Review, it’s good to be reminded what I’ve been wearing … and doing!
Today’s outfit seems to have fallen right into place as the prompt about muted shades is just what my Cotton Traders dress and cardigan is all about!
Easter next weekend with the usual Eater Egg Hunt and roast dinner on Sunday. Due to a couple of birthdays over the weekend (remember April and May is birthday heavy for me) we decided to do the hunt on Sunday and have a roast turkey both Sunday & Monday. It’s what we usually do over Christmas and with the huge turkey we’ve got (we get two for Christmas and freeze one for Easter) it’s going to cover both days. What do you do over Easter?
As it’s the last Monday of the month it’s the turn of Style not Age ladies to share their outfits with you.
The prompt was set by me, I opted for the easy-to-find …
Muted Shades in March.
Items marked with * have been gifted to me, however these are 100% my own honest comments.
I’m pretty fortunate and am able to wear most colours. There’s a few I steer clear of but you’ll either find me in neutrals and pastels or vibrant shades. I tend to wear neutrals in the winter, and only opt for brights when I’m feeling low or it’s a special occasion like Christmas. Today’s outfit seems to have fallen right into place as the prompt about muted shades is just what my Cotton Traders dress and cardigan is all about!
So when the thought of Spring enters my mind I start to think about wearing pretty bright and colourful florals reminiscent of Spring flowers! Today’s prompt is typical of outfits I tend to fall back on in the hibernating months of Feb and March. Muted shades come about by softening colours normally achieved by adding grey & browns to soften the vibrancy without making it appear dull. They can appear dusty or subdued creating an earthy calm and sophisticated hue.
My muted pink over pebble works really well for the challenge and although it’s colourful it blends really nicely in the quieter months of March. Is this something you’d wear?
I spotted the maxi dress in the new collection from Cotton Traders. It’s from the new Sea Glass collection which is inspired from the sea and as the name suggests shows items reflecting the naturally soft pieces of glass you’d find along the shoreline. I adore a maxi style and the tiered effect gives it a festival, relaxed vibe. I’ll also be thinking about adding this to my holiday suitcase (not that I’ve got anything planned yet!) The blendable collection is designed to be versatile so you can mix outfits for casual weekend outings along with more refined occasions. Do checkout this gorgeous dress here* it’s going to be my best friend in the next few months.
Anyway … what do you think to tonal matching?
I’ll share Anna first, I’m sure this was a challenge for her as Anna is usually sporting bright and beautiful shades. But she’s worked her magic and come up with this super outfit. Find out more on Anna’s Island Style.
Emma - Style Splash took a different route with her mix of patterns that are neutral. These really are stunning muted shades with her soft pink trousers and rainbow cardigan - this is just what I imagined the prompt to look like.
Finally let’s see what Hilda chose. You can see more of how her jeans jumper and cardigan outfit came about on her blog Over the Hilda.
Don’t forget to come back on Thursday for the new linkup and then on Monday for the review.
Thanks so much for joining me today.
See you soon.
