Good morning my lovelies.
Hope you’re doing well.
I’ve had a super weekend as I’ve been away overnight to stay in Arundel with David and our best friends.
We try to get away before Christmas for a well deserved break, and also we exchange our secret santas!
So after an early start on Saturday morning, we found ourselves in the little town of Arundel in West Sussex. We’d booked a hotel in the centre, which was surrounded by pubs, restaurants and coffee shops. Arriving earlier than check in, which was 3pm, we parked the car and did some wandering. The weather was awful and rained the whole time we were there bar a few windows when it had cleared, so we purposely timed pit stops in the shops and pubs when the rain fell. It worked out quite alright but I still was annoyed that I’d not take a coat with a hat or an umbrella! My scarf I’d taken helped but to be honest the rain played havoc with my hair as it wasn’t waterproof!
Here’s our hotel for the night. The Norfolk Arms is situated in the shadow of Arundel Castle. It’s a maze of rooms which included a bar, snug, breakfast room, ballroom, sitting room and many bedrooms. We were situation in the court yard and with many little seating areas I’m sure in the Summer months it would be full of life but for our weekend it was very quiet. Which I might add suited us nicely.

Here’s one of the drinks I enjoyed. Who else likes a Porn Star Martini?
Our venue for the evening dinner was The Swan which was buzzing with a live singer and an excellent menu. I picked the mushroom ravioli - which was divine, followed by a venison pudding with chips which I washed down with a delicious glass of champagne too. There was no dancing which was a shame but plenty of laughs which made up for it! Fortunately it was a short walk from the hotel so my trusty scarf helped out with the rain issues!
The cathedral was stunning! Typically featuring beautiful stained glass windows and ornate furnishings it really was a stunning place. I lit a candle and purchased a cute little Christmas tree ornament from the shop. Unfortunately the castle was closed so that’ll have to be saved for another visit in the future. I fancy returning when the weather might be better, rain definitely dampened walking around the town!
Note to self - must bring a coat with a hood or an umbrella next time!!
This seemed to be a typical style of wall in Arundel. Perfectly level these stone walls were quite impressive - have you seen anything like this before?

The best weekend ❤️❤️
ReplyDeleteIt was wasn’t it xx
DeleteIt sounds like you had a wonderful getaway despite the rain. The inn where you stayed looks nice and cozy. That cathedral really was beautiful...hope you make it back some day.
