Casual but Still Stylish - #Chicandstylish #LINKUP

Hi there everyone, thanks for joining me today.
What have you been doing this week?

I've been all behind this week and most probably the reason being I've been going down with a cold.  Two of my daughter's have had it and it's been going round the grand-kids, so no surprise I got it!
It's left me feeling really tired with a barking cough and sore chest - I'm hoping it doesn't turn into something more sinister and have been chucking paracetamol and ibuprofen down my throat and drinking honey and lemon at every opportunity (with a brandy in it at night - for medicinal purposes you understand).
Fortunately I haven't had either dance classes this week and cancelled my two classes on Wednesday.  It's pointless trying to exercise when I feel ill as I'm sure it will have a negative impact!  I hope to be feeling on top form by Friday as it's my mum's birthday and then my daughters on Sunday, so will be a busy weekend!

So with that being the situation, I've not felt much like taking photos.  I had to drag myself and get this outfit together yesterday, but once I had it on, I quite liked it!

So let me confirm these are all pieces that I have in my wardrobe already.  They've not been paired together though so it's a new one for me and you.

I've had these paper bag waist trousers for years.  They came from T K Maxx and over the years have fitted and not fitted as my weight has yo-yo'd.  They fit well at the moment and are a fabulous addition to my Autumn wardrobe.
Have you heard of the paper bag style?  You might call it a peg trouser.  They have a high waist that has extra material around the waist that is cinched in with a belt.  They are synonymous with the 80's when they were at the height of fashion - silly that it's taken me till now to wear and enjoy them!

As you would imagine I wore a belt - a plain black leather style that has a cute silver buckle.
I flicked through my shirt section and my hand fell upon my pink leopard print silky scarf.  I've matched this with bright cerise pink trousers in the past which you can view here.

It's still been warm enough to wear jackets recently and yesterday it was really mild so I wore this little fur gilet.  It's been hanging around ages, but I'm really reluctant to get rid of it.  That's just as well because I used it to complete the look I wore to pop to the bank and my local supermarket to get dinner ingredients.

Leopard print is always around and it's a firm favourite of mine.  I found this one in my local M & S when on the prowl for a challenge set by the Style Not Age ladies ( you can view the post above)  It's a silky example of ever topical pattern that's been around for years - those who are old enough will remember Bet Lynch often dressed in this animal print.  It's a bit marmite though, you either love it or hate it! Lol.

I found this striking DKNY belt in my local TK Maxx too.  It was in the sale for roughly £13 if my memory serves me right.  They always have super bargains and stylish designer labels at a snip of the price.  I think the trousers were just under £20 too!  Do you like to shop in TK Maxx?
The fur jacket made a nice change from the usual padded numbers that are everywhere at the moment, sometimes I like to wear something that's not on trend and a bit 'out of date'.   Are you a follower of fashion or do you like to go out on a limb and look a little different?

Let's talk about the boots, even after having them a few months now and wearing them loads they still seem alien to me.  I would normally wear heels or something considered a bit more feminine, but these were calling me just before my skiing trip last January and were perfect for the job.  The sparkles raise them up a level, taking them from frumpy and unflattering to statement fashionable & show-offy eh!

  9. This is a wonderful look for dashing about that looks both carefree and well considered. Not a bad effort considering that you've been fighting a bug. I do hope that you feel better soon.

  10. The fur gilet is really fun. Our TJMaxx is probably the American version of TKMaxx and I just found the cutest rust cropped cardigan there this week. It is fun to shop there and see what they have.

  12. I’m so sorry you are under the weather. I think you are wise not to exercise when sick. In my experience it’s best just to pamper yourself. I love your pink leopard blouse! And you’ve built a lovely outfit around it. The fur jacket is fun touch.

  14. I'm so sorry you've been feeling so rough this week, Jacqui. It really sucks when you get hid with a nasty cold like that. I really hope you're feeling better today, ready for your mum's and daughter's birthdays. You look fabulous, I'd never have known you were unwell! I love the faux fur gilet and the leopard print...I always secretly loved Bet Lynch, she always had a style unto herself lol. I actually tried on a full length faux fur animal print coat a la Bet Lynch last week. Needless to say, the coat wore me lol, so I didn't get it. I would love to find one that suits me though!
