Check out my checks!

Hi there my friends.
Is over fifty land being kind to you?
I've had another gruelling weekend in the garden, but it's finally starting to look good!  I need a mixture of weather over the next few days - rain and sunshine to germinate the grass seeds - then the garden will be much easier to tackle.
Hubby and I recently installed a large shed which we put together - yes that was quite a feat if you'd have seen how big it is and probably funny to watch too.  He's fitted lights, plugs, and shelving so last night we lit a fire to get rid of the off cuts, turned the rather old radio on and opened a couple of beers - we know how to 'rock and roll' on a Saturday night! 🤣
Both paying the price on Sunday morning with his knee hurting and my hands aching!!!
So onto Monday, the beginning of a shorter week in the UK with Good Friday being a Bank holiday, let's hope there wont be any more garden work to do so we can really enjoy the day off!!

Do you remember I've been clearing out my larger sized trousers, I needed them replaced, so that's what I've tried to do in recent weeks.  I shopped the Zara sale a while ago and came home with these.  I've wanted check trousers for ages, well since seeing lots of other bloggers wearing them really.  Check (excuse the pun) out Nancy - Nancy's Fashion Style, Anna - Anna's Island Style & Suzanne - Crazy Blonde Life.  I spotted these on the sale rail for £12 and took a chance that they'd fit.  With crossed fingers at home I tried them on, yes they fitted really well - result, so I set about styling them.

My Zara straight leg trousers have a grey background with mustard and navy check giving scope for a few mixes.  Here I stuck with my 3-colour-rule and opted for a spicy mustard roll neck jumper, that really was a welcomed addition for the biting Spring breeze the other day.   I paired my Bonmarche PU short jacket over too, just for extra warmth, but it looks like it fits in perfectly.

The trousers sit on the ankle which I find most flattering, with two pockets and sitting just below the waist, they are both comfortable and stylish, they are now unfortunately sold out, but these are similar and cute.

I have a frilly navy blouse from Bonmarche that also looks good with this.  I'll share that one on another day.

Have you spotted my sunglasses?  I found these in my drawer, after being hidden away for a few years.  These Dolce & Gabbana sunnies, these are fun alternatives, were my pride and joy, were always on my head & were much loved.  I hold my hands up to mis-treating them as I do to all my sunglasses, they are badly scuffed and scratched.  But for one last outing I donned them again.  I wonder if I could get new lens for them!!!

Navy court shoes were my go-to footwear, although boots would probably have been warmer on this occasion!  I grabbed my blue Lotus Shoes tote bag to complete the ensemble.
Let me know what you would chose to match today's #ootd.

  5. Lovely trousers Jacqui and how thrilling it must be to ditch trousers that are too big now! A reward for the hard work. Enjoy the Easter break - I will be doing some gardening as the forecast is good, but that's my favourite thing! Thanks for joining #WowOnWednesday!
