Style not Age Go Red for Feb.

Welcome to the blog.
How are you my friends?

Did you have a good weekend? I was out to dinner on Saturday night, we had a wonderful evening at our daughters with a private chef preparing and cooking our dinner and I must say it was delicious.
If you’re like me and have only a few favourite restaurants that you like to frequent and are a bit dismayed with the restaurant chains, then maybe having a private chef cooking for you might be the answer. Six of us dined on a superb three course meal complete with canapés. We’d pre-booked our dishes which he’d suggested, leaving the choice of canapés to my daughter and her husband, although we had all given our preferences. In the end we had chorizo which had been marinated in Worcester sauce and had a sticky glaze over it. The king prawn option was divine too, that was covered in a fresh salsa of sweet chilli and lime. The other option was delicious and I could have eaten all the portions! It was a crispy pork belly covered in soy sauce, honey glaze and chilli. Yes they were all as tasty as they sound. X

I’ll continue to tease you later in the post but until then let me tempt you with the Style not Age collection who’re sharing their red outfits for the monthly challenge based on the prompt …
Go Red for Feb!

Items marked with * have been gifted to me, however these are 100% my own honest comments.

I’ve recently taken charge of this lovely cream midi skirt. It’s from Izabel London and is a copy of my burgundy skirt I styled back in November.

I love everything about this faux leather skirt. It’s very feminine so looks great with loads of my pieces. I’d decided to wear the neutral piece with red and had planned this outfit in my head perfectly. Imagine how pleased I felt when I saw an instagram friend wearing my outfit before I’d posted it! It confirmed how good it looked together. I knew I had to share it with you all.

So red! Would you have paired it over cream? It’s a colour combination I’ve not worn before, I don’t really know why but feel it was a shame as they’re such a good blend.
The bold red is going to be a popular choice this year, it’s a powerful colour that brings positivity, an authoritative air and symbolises luck and prosperity. Will you be wearing it this year?

You’ve seen all the other bits before. I’m wearing a red roll neck that’s years old but still looks the same. I topped that with my popular red jacket that always gets a nice comment when I pop it on. I like that it sits on the waist and kind of blouson’s over giving a super silhouette.

Now would you have expected anything else boot and bag wise? Yes I had to go for my fab little suede boots which are a bright red and have a shiny heel (which is a great height) and a pretty faux buckle on the side. You can read all about these beauties here. My bag was a present from David. He got his one Christmas. It comes out every so often and always looks super. It’s got a long handle so it can be worn over the shoulder as well as in my hand. Catch all the details for it here.

Shall we see what the others picked now?

First up here’s what Hilda - Over the Hilda picked. Her jeans show a casual outfit but the bright red jumper, that has a striking edging of contrasting tone takes it up a notch to polished semi-formal style.

Anna has chosen boldly - just as I would have imagined. She’s picked this striking pair of trousers to impress us all. Didn’t she do well! Find out more details on her blog Anna’s Island Style.

Emma smashed this challenge too. Wearing a graphic tee shirt with gold trousers and that fabulous jacket works nicely. Turning all these stunning pieces into a casual cocktail of fun. Find out more about this look on Emma’s blog Style Splash.

Now we’ve seen the what Hilda, Emma, Anna and I picked let me take you back to Saturday night.
Our starters were also amazing. I don’t really like scallops so had sour dough, with burrata cheese, marinated tomatoes and prosciutto ham with a balsamic drizzle.

Two choices of main course were:
Kentish Beef Sirloin, Fondant Potato, Carrot Purée, Chantenay Carrots,
Roasted Shallot, Red Wine Jus or

Moules Mariniere - Mussels Steamed in white wine, shallots, garlic & thyme finished with cream, lemon and parsley.

Our final dishes finished off the evening like a sweet sensation!

I opted for the Lemon Posset topped with raspberries and honeycomb - stunning.

The other dreamy dessert was a warm triple
Chocolate brownie, with honeycomb and vanilla pod ice cream.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. So pleased you could join us. We’d love for you to click the links and re more about each individual outfit - Emma, Hilda and Anna will be waiting to welcome you. X
See you on Monday for the first post of March!
Bye for now. X
