Style not Age - Jewel Brights.

Hi there my friends.
Thanks for stopping by my blog and welcome to you all.
I'm literally just back from my weeks skiing in Sestriere.  Oh it's been fun, and I'm thrilled at how much I did - WITHOUT struggling with fitness, seems my spin classes have really paid off!
We've had so many laughs, perfect skiing conditions and lots of yummy food.  I've eaten way too many carbs, and drunk my fair share of prosecco.  Back to the diet me thinks, but not before a cheeky curry and a few brandy & cokes!!!

Today is the first Style not Age post of 2020 featuring my wonderful, style soaked friends Emma, Anna & Hilda.  Please do click on the links to visit their sites - if you've not visited them before there's plenty to feast your eyes on!
Anna had the job of setting this challenge - Jewel Brights - it's been erm .... interesting to say the least!
As with many of our previous posts I had to google the topic and happily found what I'd been imagining in my head - an array of gleaming, lustrous tones that look opulent and regal.

So although this wasn't the easiest challenge at first, once I got my head into gear I managed to pull this cute little number together.  My red velvet skirt you've seen before, it's from M & S a few years ago and I love wearing it because my MIL bought it for me and it always reminds me of her. 💕
A pleated skirt seems to have been high on the fashion scene for years,  a heavy velvet texture like mine is good for Winter when boots and thick jumper is suffice, while a lighter, thinner material makes the skirt delightfully wearable when it's warmer.

The royal blue blouse has been around for a while, but I soon realized why it was added to the charity pile - the buttons keep coming undone & show everything off!  It's a nice style with a deep v neck and long sleeves, I'm wondering if I can maybe sew up the button holes to keep my modesty in tact!  The cheerful red jacket has also been on the blog a couple of times, it's a tad too big, but still looks super on so I'll still be using it.  Finally the hidden jewels in my concoction is my daughter's statement necklace bought from a local boutique.  I'm so pleased with the finishing look and feel it really shows off the bright jewel like tones.  My daughter didn't like the sound - or look of this outfit, but has sort of changed her mind once she'd seen the photos - proving, once again, you really need to try out new looks and ideas every so often - I'm so glad I went off the rails with this and didn't stick to my usual conforming style.

Do you remember me wearing these darling sparkly sock boots before?  I know I've not shown them on here for ages but they do get an airing quite often.  They are previous season from Lotus Shoes and you can catch the full post when I featured them with my frilly edged wrap dress.

The mustard-yellow bag from Peacocks compliments my necklace and was a great bargain too - from the sale and a snip of a price at £7!  There's enough room for purse, lipstick, phone and other essentials in the padded cross-body style bag.

Let's start with Anna who put forward this challenge.  You can find more of Anna's brilliant style over on her blog Anna's Island Style.  Anna always approaches our challenges with interest and ease.  Her satin skirt from T K Maxx is taking center stage with her charity shop finds supporting her carnival of colours beautifully.

Step forward Emma - Style Splash  Who's tackled this task with her usual seamless style, do stop by for all the facts of her flattering, feminine & fashionable finds.

Finally meet Hilda - Over the Hilda.  After initially struggling with this task, Hilda shines like a bright gem in her luxurious ruby red coat & the finishing touch of a ruby red stone necklace is equally as stunning don't you think!  Although Hilda you're hiding your 'jewel in the crown' aren't you?  He's sheltered in his buggy isn't he! 👶

Thanks so much for visiting today, much appreciate your support.
This outfit is quite a way out of my comfort zone and would really appreciate your honest views about it.  Is it something you'd wear?  Is there too much going on?  I'd love to hear your views. X
Much appreciate my god-daughter for her stunning shots which I sprung upon her very 'last minute'.
Let me know what your thoughts are on this latest challenge.
Bye for now. X
