Styling a Classic Black Dress - Chic & Stylish Linkup.

Hello and welcome to Mummabstylish.
How’s your first week of November gone?

Are you tempted to put your Christmas tree and decorations up yet? I went to a local garden centre on Wednesday and it was full up of Christmas paraphernalia, I’m so tempted to put mine up soon! 🤭

It’s been a busy work-wise. I’ve had a few things to sort out for my UGC section of work along with life in general and the week seems to be flying by!

Today I’m sharing an outfit I think might be perfect for party season. It’s all about the little black dress. 🖤

Items marked with an * have been gifted to me, however these are 100% my own honest comments.

So with the festive season just around the corner it’s time to think about our party wear. Do you like to sparkly in sequins or dominate in dark styles? I do enjoy wearing both. But today it’s a fine knitted dress complete with pleated skirt and fancy sleeves.

I like to have pieces in my wardrobe that are versatile, you know a dress that can be worn over trousers like a jacket, a dress that can have a jumper over it to make it look like separates or jumpers that can lend themselves to scarves. So when I saw this knitted dress on the Izabel * website I thought it would be suitable for two different outings. The first, as I’ve worn today with heels and a fancy scarf for a dinner date when high heels lift the whole look but by adding boots and a patterned jumper and jacket will turn the formal look into a much more casual everyday kind of outfit.

I
wanted to create drama, so by adding a flamboyant scarf which has good accents along with a crimson bag and matching shoes I think I achieved just that. I picked this stunning next scarf up in a local charity shop ages ago, and it’s earned its place ten fold for the amount I paid and had subsequently worn it. It’s good to get a little accessory that’s works hard in your wardrobe isn’t it.

Also the bag is an old friend too. David bought it one Christmas and it comes out to play every so often. It’s such a fun colour don’t you think.  I’ve tried to find similar but as far as I can see LK Bennett are no longer around! This is a gorgeous alternative though.

Now here’s the sleeve. It was what I noticed first. I adore anything a bit unusual like this. I like to mix textures and fabrics together and this detail is so striking, I had some lovely comments about this knitted classic.

I plan sharing a more casual look for this midi dress soon. Do watch out for it with some boots and a jumper.
