Pleats & Flats with a Denim Jacket - #Chicandstylish #LINKUP

Morning my lovely friends.
How are you all doing?
Things have calmed down a little after my run of birthdays and I've been enjoying musing over my  birthday presents with a little peace.
With the rain taking center stage over the past weeks all I've wanted to wear is jeans and boots. I long for the weather to improve so I can wear some of my summer outfits and sandals.  I got some cute cream jeans and a pretty white blouse for my birthday along with a really welcomed white jean jacket (I've been wanting one for ages) - this will be one of the first outfits I put on when the sun decides to make an appearance for longer than an hour or so! Ha ha!

Last year I was due to go to Budapest to see the Hungarian F1 race.  Yep you know the answer to that one, so we've managed to extend our deposit and are trying to book for the latest possible date next year.  I've mixed feelings about the whole thing - part of me is really excited to think we might be able to get away next year or maybe this one, but on the other hand I'm half expecting everything to be back in lock-down!!  I do hope this is just me worrying.  Have you booked to go abroad yet?

Let me tell you about today's OOTD.  I took advantage of better temperatures the other week and wore this skirt and jacket combo.
Do join my #chicandstylish #LINKUP my friends, you'll find the link further down.

I've always had a love for pleats, they never go out of fashion and always look neat and pretty, but I wanted to change the vibe a bit and create a more edgy and street look.  The best way to obtain this is to change heels for trainers and don a denim jacket or a leather one.  I like the trendy look and love the ease-to-wear style it creates.  Tell me are you a fan of wearing trainers with a dainty pleated skirt?

I found this navy and floral version on Ebay, it's from Marks and Spencer and came brand new with tags for under £10 ... including postage.  Do you buy from Ebay?  Have you also heard or used the Vinted I've seen lots about it, but haven't delved any further yet, so let me know if you've had any experience with it please.
So back to the outfit.  I figured pulling colours from my skirt would be ideal so baby blue and pink were obvious choices (dainty yellow would have worked too.)  These Vionic Keke pink trainers are fairly old now, but still look great.  With a built in arch support and the three zone comfort I can 100% confirm they are the most comfortable trainer I have worn!

Picking out the pale blue flowers over the skirt I teamed an old favourite of mine.  The blue knitted top adds extra interest with the crochet detail on it, it also has cute frills on the sleeves too.  I've seen another similar short sleeve jumper in M & S that I fancy pairing with it too.  That's the birthday money burning a hole in my pocket - lol.

Trainers make a striking alternative to heels and not only that they are so bloomin' easy to wear.  I've just taken charge of a white pair from Hotter Shoes that I won in a Giveaway on IG and am thrilled with them.  They are certainly going to get plenty of use and I'll looking forward to finding new ways to style them - dresses are going to be my first option. X

  1. Jacqui,

Great look. It definitely has the edginess of street-wear and yet still relatable for everyday. I adore pairing trainers with skirts/dresses as I'm all in for comfort these days. Thanks for hosting and I hope you have a great weekend ahead.

  4. We have been longing to go to Edi and Scotland but have not booked anything. But that is also because of Brexit because we needed to find out about regulations for travelling with a pet. But hopefully, soon.

Keeping fingers crossed for your plans!

And I have always loved that skirt x jean jacket combo. Thank you for hosting. xo Sabina

  5. Pink and blue together are always a nice combo and I like the pink shoes with all the different shades of blue in your outfit!

Hopefully you are able to go on your replanned trip! Here they are saying they won't open the borders for us until mid next year now maybe, so we won't be going overseas for a while! I don't think anywhere other than NZ is as safe as we are though. We have a travel bubble with NZ so we can fly there and back and not need to quarantine but they do close it down when cases get out of quarantine so I haven't been brave enough to book it yet!

Thanks for the link up :)

Hope you are having a good week :)

  17. What a great find! You can do so much with a floral skirt like this one. Love it styled casually with the denim jacket. Hoping your rain goes away soon! But it sure keeps everything green, right?

  22. It seems the only places abroad people are going in the U.S. are tropical vacation in Mexico! I think we can fly to Hawaii now, which isn't really out of the country... but, it is a far flight! We are staying in the U.S., though and just doing a beach vacation in Myrtle Beach for my daughter's dance nationals. I love this skirt paired with the sneaks!! I have been really into wearing dresses and skirts with sneakers lately!

  25. Pretty skirt Jacqui! It looks fab with the trainers. We have a trip to Spain booked for the end of July (we booked it last year) but that's looking doubtful. We've booked to go to Barbados in October too - I'm hoping that one goes ahead because we've already moved it once!
