Here's my Red Pleated Skirt Again #Chic & Stylish Linkup

Hello & welcome.
A very excited MummaB greets you today.
I've finally jumped onto the Linkup bandwagon.  Today I'm launching a brand new Linkup.
I know all of you are #chic&stylish, if you'd care to join in I can see all your latest looks, and so will everyone else!
Hopefully things run smoothly with no issues or problems, let's keep our fingers crossed for that then hey?

But before that why don't we take a look at today's outfit?

Isn't it funny how we have these steadfast rules regarding style in our minds?  I have tried and tested outfits that work for me, and tend to keep them in my head in imaginary 'little boxes', for instance a playful tee shirt I would only pair with jeans or wear under a shirt, another 'contained' look is an elegant pleated skirt with heels and a stylish blouse or jumper.  Why don't I ever mix the two up?  I see all the young and daring bloggers go for it, but I'm just peeping out of my box thinking "that won't look right on me" well that's just in my head right?

I've styled this regal red velvet skirt twice since I received it for Christmas, both my outfits have been typical of the modest way I tend to dress.  So anyway last week scrolling through IG I found a young fun, & lively outfit with a blue pleated skirt, then my daughter sent me a screen shot and suggested I try it out!  Nervously I searched my wardrobe - nothing popped out, onto second daughter's wardrobe - the possibility of a cute stripy blouse, nah not really!  Into youngest daughters room and she had the perfect top - but, will it fit me?  Thank god for stretchy fabric because it did.
Here's my 3rd look with my red pleated skirt. Catch the first one here and last months here.

The stretchy tee has horizontal stripes across it featuring cream and shades of orange, loving the long arms that I pulled down over my hands. Topped off with my faithful jean jacket as the weather was fairly warm today - and yes warm enough for no tights!
The baseball trainers made an appearance to finish off my casual outfit.

I surprised myself at how comfortable I felt in this outfit,  so much so I wore it to meet my friend for lunch, only switching up my trainers for tan court shoes, and swopping the blue clutch for my tan leather bag.
I felt chuffed with my young and trendy style and feel I might have been converted!

  5. Hi Jacqui, well aren't you the adventurous one?!! It's a great idea to swoop on outfit pics you really adore and get creative and you've done this so cleverly. I'm a bit old-school, I see much of the trainers and skirts/dresses look and I'll take a raincheck on that one, given my legs! But you have the tap-dancing/ballet legs and you can rock the look! BTW, was soooo impressed when I read the bare legs bit - I haven't even thought about buying this year's instant tan yet! Hugs, m'dearie, x.

  22. Jacqui, this combination is so fabulous! I would never have known that you were skeptical of pairing a tee with your gorgeous pleated skirt! I love the paradox of the skirt with a tee, denim jacket, and trainers. You are so adorable. Well done, my friend! I have added your link up to my link ups page, too! Thanks for hosting.

  25. Isn't it liberating (and exhilarating) though? When we push so-called style rules to the side and just go with how we feel? I'm learning to do that myself :) starting with shorts (wore my first pair ever last Summer, and now, I live in them). I love all three renditions of your velvet skirt, Jacqui, but this one here may very well be my fave. Top it off with a beret and you'd be the epitome of Riviera chic xoxo

    1. Yes, I gradually starting to change my style, learning new ways to put clothes together. Glad you've embraced shorts, for me I only wear them on holiday and at home when it's really hot. You've said some lovely words, thank you so much Sheela. x
