Timepieces and Tee Shirt Dress.

Hi there, how's it going?  Not long now till the weekend, hopefully the weather will get back on track with sunshine & no rain!

It was a special day for MummaB yesterday - hubby and I celebrated our 31st wedding anniversary.
Marking the occasion with our usual visit to Reads.  You can read about my special date at Reads last year.
We dined on absolutely amazing food, from Ham Hock Terrine,  Montgomery Cheddar souffle, Angus Fillet Steak & Pork with fruit jelly on a bed of squashed potatoes & cabbage.  Divine food that simply melted in the mouth!  Finishing off with a Hot Berry souffle, I was full to the brim!  I did have a little room left to taste hubby's cheese & biscuits.  This was complimented by a bottle of our favourite Champagne Laurent-Perrier surprisingly presented upon arrival and was a touching gift from my lovely mum-in-law, many thanks. OTS dress and doing a u-turn!

Well how did your weekend go?  Have you had lots going on, just chilling or maybe at work!
Whatever you've done I hope it's been enjoyable.

A busy one for me, with babysitting, BBQ, baby shower and birthday party!
Trying to catch some of the tennis in-between was a little difficult, thank goodness for catch-up TV!

Have you ever had a total turn-around on a specific style of clothing?  Hated one and would never entertain wearing it, then changed your mind (as women often do) becoming a big fan?  Yes I believe we've all done that - and I'm no exception.  Here's why.  Never wanting to support the OTS style tops and dresses, but seeing that they are still everywhere, I saw I was missing out on a huge chunk of the fashion scene.  You can see How I wear my OTS top. They don't 'do' it for me - not fitting right or feeling good!

However while out shopping for last minute bits to take away to Ibiza I randomly spotted this. A beautiful patterned OTS dress had caught my eye, how would it look, it wouldn't hurt to just try it on, I quickly headed for the fitting room to see if I would be lucky!

Drawn by the feminine, floral pattern along with the length, this dress finishes on the knee which is great for me.   Where a garments length finishes on my leg is quite important, not being blessed with great legs I tend to want at least half of them covered when I'm out, and the dress I bought did just that.
The sleeve has the right amount of arm coverage, so I didn't feel over hot.
We then get to the Off the Shoulder bit - It sat just in the right place on my shoulders and didn't move, it didn't gape, it wasn't tight and or restrictive.
My usual thinking that it would look awful and fit awkwardly hadn't happened.
I felt ok in it, no actually I felt great wearing it.  Have I been 'turned',  would I now be embracing this on-going trend?  My answer yep, and yep!  Oh and just to add I've bought another off-the-shoulder little number that will hopefully be a winner too because I've got big plans for it next month!

Who's not embracing the choker trend that's going on now?  Ribbons, laces, blingy or chain,    they're still on point and are all over the stores.  I picked up my green choker in Matalan a few months ago,  worn here being girly!

Tropical print is big this summer,  this pretty pink floral print fits the bill don't you think?  This dress is very comfortable and is perfect for this warm hot weather the UK is having now, lets hope it lasts a little longer to get the maximum value from the summer clothes I've bought!
Worn with flats, makes this look just right for the baby shower I wore it to.  We had drinks and nibbles in the garden along with the usual games of 'guess the baby's weight', 'due date' and  'guess the sex'.

My blingy flats aren't really supportive enough now-a-days so I really need to be investing in something better for my feet, but to relax in the garden on the sunny afternoon it was they were perfect. Coming from Accessorize some years ago, but they've still got plenty in-store.

My dress is from George at Asda for a whopping £10! - Winner!

Have you ever done a u-turn on a style or garment, maybe a colour you have never worn and now embrace with love?  I love to hear if you have, let me know in the comments box - thanks. X

Must go now - I'm so pleased you could stop by.

Bye for today, I'll see you Thursday. X

Wimbledon - Anyone for tennis?

Morning ladies - is it Thursday already?
Forgive me that I have to ask, but I've had a long weekend away, for those who don't follow me on IG I've been living it up in Ibiza on my nieces Hen Party - yes that's right this over fifty year old has been living it up with the 'youngsters' - doing it for the oldies, and I can say with hand on my heart it's been amazing!
I can't remember the last time I GOT IN AT 5AM!!! I thought that 5am was for getting up and going to the loo!!!!

Visiting many clubs & bars along with plenty of eating, drinking, sunbathing and laughs.   One club in particular, which is frequently visited by plenty of celebrities was Ocean Beach, this is predominantly aimed at the young and fabulous, & I was somewhat apprehensive about joining my young companions.
Worrying about what I should wear, how I should act, would I stand out like a sore thumb or risk embarrassing myself.
Things are never as bad as you imagine, I shouldn't have been so anxious because everything felt normal, especially when looking around - what did  I see?  Plenty of cellulite!  Yes gorgeous, beautiful young ladies of all shapes and sizes WITH CELLULITE!  My inner demons were crushed right there - all ages can and do have the dreaded wobbly, fatty deposits - lingering undesirably on certain parts of their anatomy.
Visiting Ibiza Old Town was an absolute pleasure, I think I fell in love with this ancient city with its romantic little side streets, quaint restaurants, intoxicating aromas and dramatic castle lighting, making a vow there and then to bring hubby back to enjoy this romantic city in full!
Watch this space as they say!

Anyhow apart for coming back to the usual chores, I've come back to enjoy Wimbledon.
Do you follow tennis?  I'm not an avid, have to watch sort of fan, more I'll watch if I'm home or if the players are interesting.
So I was thinking I'd have a play around with something I would wear if I got the chance to attend.
It should be an outfit that's summery, but not too short, tight or revealing.  With no shade maybe a high neckline and plenty of sun lotion!

A pair of shorts would be a good option with a cardigan or light jacket for cooler weather.  Jumpsuits are very fashionable this year and are totally acceptable for Wimbledon.

Watching tennis is not the place for extravagant fashion and most of the looks are simple and classic. You can add interest to a solid-coloured outfit with jewellery and accessories.
Sunglasses are so important for a sunny day, they will protect your eyes from the glare. A sun hat is also a fab option unless you’re sitting in Centre Court!

When it comes to footwear, it’s best to go for comfortable summer sandals with a block or wedge heel, even though you’ll probably be sitting down for most of the day. Stiletto heels can be difficult when you’re climbing the grandstand to find your seat and you may have a long walk from your transport to the event.

Here's my choice for a day at Wimbledon - if I ever get to go there.

White shorts for comfort, paired with a white beaded sleeveless top, and a blast of red from the flat shoes, red bag, cardigan and belt, all being a gentle reminder of the strawberries with cream that will be a tempting treat.

As it's not going to be me attending this year I'll make do with my consolation treat: Strawberries & cream, Ham & cucumber sandwiches with a delicious glass of prosecco .... Whilst watching the match on TV!

I'm glad you could join me today, hope you can pop back on Monday.

50 shades of Monochromatic for 5 Over50.

Morning, yep it really is the beginning of July, and yep it's the third challenge of 5 Over 50!!
If you missed the first two challenges you can view both May and June here. X

So to re-cap on what 5 Over 50 is.
A theme is set by one of us each month that we then set about styling in our own individual way.
Founded by Gail from Is this Mutton? I have thoroughly enjoyed taking part each month, grasping some fresh ideas along the way!

So without further waffling here's July's challenge which was set by My friend Laurie from
Vanity and Me.
50 shades of Monochromatic.

I have to admit this one had me and my girls discussing what this style challenge actually meant!
We were tooing and froing between what we thought monochromatic was, is it only one colour for the whole outfit, or both black and white!  As you can see obviously I was right! sorry girls - ha!

Well you can see what my interpretation was - All Yellow and canary yellow at that!
I think I fitted in well with the field of daisy's, Esther commented she felt our 'shoot' was very Marc Jacobs! except I'm not 16! Oh and not a model (laughs hilariously).

I could have picked any colour for this challenge, and sometimes having so much choice to start off with makes picking something harder!  Going through my wardrobe I spotted this birthday present from the kids - bright yellow fitted trousers from Zara  - now the challenge was starting to get easier!
Visiting my local Asda store I found the perfect matches in a cami top the exact same colour along with a chiffon sleeveless floral shirt - again in the same blaring canary yellow.  The shirt has clusters of flowers over it giving a bit of depth to my look.
Hurray - my outfit was born.  Adding gold strappy sandals, with a perfect heel height, again from Zara.  Still keeping with the one colour theme, well, yellow/gold same thing through squinty eyes and a dim light lol.

Can you spot the black bugs that were drawn to the yellow?  I was covered in them, I kept brushing them off, but they kept coming!!  Esther wasn't left out either, they landed on her white tee shirt too!
I've got the bug - the love bug for this outfit!

"No matter how small you are you, can still achieve big things"

This two bow detail on the side of these ankle length trousers is Cute-As-Hell!
My girls know me so well,  I was thrilled when I opened the present and just as elated when I wore them for the first time.  The bright canary yellow screams summer, and I felt warm and sunny when I wore them.

The only yellow bag I own ... opps sorry my daughter owns!  You may have seen it before
here and here

Trousers from Zara (reduced to £19.99)
Cami  From Asda £5
Blouse  from Asda £12
Sandals from Zara (past season)
Bag from Primark (Daughters)

That's enough of my choice lets see what the four other beautiful ladies have up their sleeves!

Roman Originals -my kind of style.

Hi all, what you all up to?

Really happy to be sharing this post with you today.

I was recently contacted by Roman Originals, and I'm thrilled to be sharing these two stunning dresses with you.
You all know I'm a big fan of wearing dresses and can't get enough of them in my wardrobe.  They're so easy to wear with no stressing about what tops match with which bottoms.
Easy picking makes happy wearing!

With plenty of special events on my calendar to dress for, I know both dresses will be perfect for many of them.  I've got a wedding and a christening, along with a few birthday's in the next two months, so having these dresses will give me a stress free mind in the days before the festivities!

Lets take a look at my two super picks.

Abstract is an easy to wear look, so this leaf print jersey dress was a must for me,  this can be dressed up with white, blue or black heels and bag or for a more relaxed look flat sandals will give a casual feel.
This Jersey Dress* comes in sizes 10 to 20, I'm wearing my usual 14 and it fits like a glove, draping well over any imperfections, giving a flattering, smooth finish.   How cool are these colours together?
Abstract is almost like camouflage - great at hiding any unwanted lumps and bumps.
What about the waist detail? Isn't it charming. Gathers and pleats add that little bit of extra space we sometimes all need, but without drawing any unwanted attention.
The chic little features on each of their garments make Roman Originals stand out from the normal,  I love a bit of detail on an outfit - something that catches the eye and these outfits are no exception.

With or without a necklace -  what do you ladies think?

The dress having a slight stretch to it, so therefore has no need for a zipper or any other fastening for that matter, that's where the inner lining comes into play, allowing the dress to slip over your head and slide down your body, smooth and slinky.

Paired with my Debenhams strappy sandals, which is a perfect colour match,  I found them in the half price sale - you may remember me saying I bought four pairs that day!

'Make hay whilst sun shines' as they say, or 'Buy shoes when there's a sale on' - as I say!! Lol.

I thought these hotties would be uncomfortable because of all the straps, but they seem to be alright when taking these photos, time will tell though when I next wear them - which will probably be for the christening I'm attending next month - I'll keep you up-dated!
You can buy this for the cool price of £35, I know you'll get good value for money because this stunner will be just as edgy in Autumn worn with the ever faithful denim jacket.

My pick for the wedding I'm attending is this Light Pink Pleated Floral Print Dress.*
The shangtung fabric is a type of silk, and not only feels, but looks just super.  This dress is fully lined *thumbs up from me* and has a 'v' neckline both at the front and back.  With a full zipper at the back, the dress sits on the knee, makes for a stylish appearance.
I opted for my usual size 14 which fitted me well, but was snug on the hips,  I think it looks marvellous on, so really I could do with losing a few inches from my nether-regions to feel perfect in this dress.
You can see I chose the navy and pale pink option, but take a look at the other two choices of  Yellow for £45 & Brighter Pink for £35, you'll realise what a difficult decision it was.
So at that price you could have all three hanging in your wardrobe!

With this look I opted to match my accessories with these Blush sandals and matching clutch, see where I wore them first.   Don't they make a great addition?  Some people consider this a really faux pas, I'm quite old school, but coming round to the fact that you can mix your trimmings for an interesting finish,

Love the slight cap sleeve & the pleated detailing on the V neck.  Making way for a pearl and bling necklace.

I urge you to visit the website because there are literally endless choices of stunning dresses, super separates along with umpteen choices of accessories, from fascinators to shoes and jewellery.
You wont be hard pushed to find something you love!

Photographs c/o Esther Ruby, so pleased with them as always. X

Hope you can stop by on Monday where I'll be joining the four other ladies from
5 Over 50 for the third style challenge - that means it will be July by then!!!

Gingham Cropped Trousers with Three Tops.

Hello fellow bloggers, how's it going?
Another great weekend for MummaB'.
Up to the big British City on Saturday - such a fun, lively day in the capital, one word  ... Prosecco!
Sunday being rather the opposite, curled up on the sofa - catching up on some TV and my water in-take!
The reason for our visit to London was my hubby's Christmas present, yes you heard correct Christmas!
You can Imagine how difficult it has been to arrange a date when eight people are free on the same day, so last Saturday was the first opportunity for me, hubby and six of our friends to travel up to London Town for Gin Tasting!
Heading over to Whistling Shop in Shoreditch to sample gin, find out about its origins and how it's made.  En-route visiting a traditional Pie and Mash shop, a couple of bars and a fabulous tea and cake stop - aptly named Cake Hole Café
Here I scoffed a mouthwatering cream tea, along with endless cups of the hot beverage, in a cup and saucer from a teapot! - tea tastes so much better from china tea cups and brewed in a teapot don't you think?

Here's the casual outfit I wore on Saturday,  which was basic, comfortable and just the job for a day in big city.  Gingham cropped trousers, paired with white peplum hem tee shirt & I added my pretty necklace and matching bracelet along with my Zara metallic silver bag and gold espadrilles to my ensemble.  As we made our way to our destination I saw this graffiti wall where hubby took this photo, there's nothing like this locally so wanted to include the artwork in today's post.

Honestly, I could of eaten another of these super warm scones, cream & jam, not to mention any of the cakes that were on offer.

The cropped gingham trousers I've had for a while now, are from Dorothy Perkins & fit me like a glove.  Black & white can be paired with loads of colours thus prompting me to try out these three looks.  Which one do you prefer?

Beginning with the obvious white, which is my favourite.   I picked up this cotton top from Matalan.  I do like lace and the cotton cut-out detail reminded me of giant lace.  This was on the sleeves, across the neckline and round the bottom of the top - or the top of the bottom! Lol.  It could also be worn as a dress if you've got the legs for it - lol.

Feeling more able to match different coloured accessories now-a-days, so the black ankle sandals  worked well with the yellow clutch bag.

Are you liking the blast of colour - lemon?   Since starting blogging and reading fashion blogs from all age groups I've grasped that you don't HAVE to match your accessories.  Different colours, tones and textures can all work.  This will add depth and interest to an outfit, but I'm just a novice on this wave length and often still match my accessories, however it has given me a wider choice in what I can pick!  You may have seen this Primark clutch before here.

Look Number 2, how about the yellow camisole top?  This is from Asda and is a super fit,  I love the wide straps, along with the double layer effect.  This little cami is a wardrobe staple, well worth buying in as many colours as the shop has, because they mix & match, can be worn alone or with layers.  Let's hope they've got other colours because for £5 this is a bargain top.

Finally number three, my least favourite!  Gingham with red surely is a winner - right?  Upon reflection I wished I'd worn a red tee shirt underneath my red cardi and not the chosen white one.  It looks dis-jointed, breaking the fluidity of what could be a stylish outfit.  I'll be trying the red tee shirt soon and see if it looks better - I'll keep you informed.

My black ankle strap sandals are from Faith at Debenhams.  A girl can never have enough black sandals and I was smitten with these as they're very stylish and flattering too.  I picked them up in the half price sale a few weeks ago, well if I'm truthful I spent quite a chunk of my birthday money on sandals that day!

Until Thursday It's been fabulous, and I hope you'll pop back then to see another exciting feature that's in the pipe-line.  I'm super happy with it and can't wait to share with you all.

These super photographs were taken by the ever talented Esther Ruby, she's a star. ✴

Bye , bye.   x
