Rose Wrap Dress from Nasty Gal - #Chicandstylish #LINKUP

Good morning my friends.
Thanks for stopping by.

How's your week been?
Can't believe my next post will be in April, how can that have happened!

It's Easter in a few days and this year mine will be a little different.
You might have read earlier that I'm going skiing with David for a long weekend to Valmoral in The Alps.  We've been before a couple of years ago and enjoyed a cheeky break in the snow and enjoyed some quality time together.  I won't say we'll have a relaxing time as we drive down on the Friday, which will be about a 9 hour journey, ski on Saturday and Sunday and travel home again on the Monday, quite a flying visit - but well worth it ... so long as they have some snow ... lol!

I'll be packing light as I only need clothes for a couple of days, I'm going to travel down in my cream track suit, take a pair of jeans and my faux leather jeans, a couple of nice tops and a lounge suit.  The only other things will be my ski wear, thermals and socks.  The focus is on getting away - not what I'll look like!  (A pretty top can be very alluring and mask what's being worn below the waistline .. ermm basic jeans ... lol)

Something quite opposite from what I'll be wearing over Easter, today I'm sharing a dress that I bought with a June wedding in mind.  I spotted it on the Debenhams website when I was looking for an orange top to wear with my gifted orange beauties from Lotus Shoes.
How do you like the wrap around dress in this Spring friendly shade of Rose pink?

Let's talk about the main attraction shall we.  My Rose dress is certainly a splendid site, but maybe just a little bit too big for the purpose, the purpose being my June wedding.  Did you connect the two?  June wedding and voluminous fabric!  Yes I'm going to be way too hot in this, for god's sake it's got long sleeves too!  Anyone else feel my pain?

I'm trying to chill quite literally, and find just the right dress for the occasion and trying to be very laid back about it.  The best way to find an item is to de-stress about finding one and let it happen naturally, what I mean is not to focus on just getting a wedding guest dress, but when looking have it in the back of my mind and sometimes, not always, something just pops up that will be just right.  With that being said I was scrolling through Debenhams website (which is packed by the way) and this beautiful dress was just there AND was only £10!  I figured it was a no brainer and added it to my basket along with this cracking stunner and my orange swirl top mentioned above.

It's a wonderful dress and in an eye catching rose pink.  I thought it would suit me well, but upon arrival and trying on, I'm not so sure.  Maybe it's the amount of fabric that's surrounding the skirt, but I feel it just drowns me.  So along with the fact it's got long sleeves and is a heavy hot material I've decided to send it back, sad that a bargain slipped through my hands!
So it's back to the drawing board, with the green dress (aforementioned above) in the back of my mind 'just in case'.

So down to the details. The satin dress is a favourite style of mine which is wrap around.  It has that belt detail that loops through and round the waist to cinch it in and create a flattering silhouette which can be tied on either the side or the front.  It's maxi length which I find gives a very elegant look and feel too.  I often enjoy wearing longer dresses to weddings and find them really flattering.  You can see this blue maxi I wore to a friends wedding last year and this cream option I wore to another one a few months earlier.

  6. It's a beautiful dress Jacqui and you look fabulous in it! I can understand your hesitation though - if we're lucky enough to get some hot weather in June it might be a bit too much fabric. I have to be careful now about certain types of fabric...bloody hot flushes!

    1. Thanks Emma, such a shame it's not going to work. Yes the hot flushes are hard work, without having the hot weather included! x

  7. I see what you are saying about the amount of material in this dress. I think it would be too warm for the occasion. But the style sure suits you and the color was pretty.
