Style Not Age share our Cosy Autumn Coats.

A big warm welcome to you all.
Thanks for stopping by today, it's good to have you here.
Welcome to the blog today, it's the last Monday of the month so it's time to share the latest challenge that was set by Hilda - Over The Hilda.  She gave us a interesting topic to work with and it fell into my lap at just the right time, I needed a new coat so Cosy Autumn Coats has been well received!

As usual the weather in the UK is playing games with us, one minute it's cold the next there's a warm breeze in the air and Summer dresses are being worn again!  So when I was buying a new coat the other day it seemed a tad silly, I've been way too hot to wear even a jacket recently let alone a big padded coat!   But I know when the weather does change for the worse I'll be more than thankful that I've already got mine!

I have quite a few coats in my collection, most are quite old, some fairly new and the one I'm sharing for the challenge is brand new.  I spotted a gorgeous padded coat in the Next window in town, but do you think I could track one down ... no!  None in my size in store and online either they were out of stock or delivery was 1 - 2 weeks.  So I paid a visit to another local shopping complex a bit further away, they didn't have one either (annoyingly they had one in the window too).  So I hopped over to have a look in M & S, they had a few different styles and eventually, with the help of the assistant I came home with this one.

It's quilted, which means it's really warm and snuggly to wear.  It's a good length, sitting just mid calf on me.  I was wearing boots when I bought it, and it looked very smart and even dare I say a bit dressy!  How could a padded coat look dressy?  Well the secret is that it's a thin padded coat, and not too bulky.  It's not like a sporty style that would only look right with trainers, this one will do both jobs perfectly.  I plan to wear it with trainers soon too!

It does have a hood and I must admit this didn't really excite me, I would have preferred it to be hidden, but reckon I won't care when it's cold, wet and windy!  The popper fastenings are bang on trend and make a fashionable change to a zip.

It also has a belt, a brilliant addition to add a feminine vibe, I cinched in the waist and it totally changed the look, so leaving it to hang or tie at the back I have the best of both worlds.

This £79 coat is also available in a rustic hunter green.  I toyed with getting it and was very tempted, however I hate too many colours in the mix, so should I be wearing different shades I felt there would be just too much 'going on'.  The assistant agreed with me, so I came home with black.  And maybe my original choice, from Next, will be available in the future - well it will be on my Christmas list so you never know!! 😉

First up sharing their coat is Hilda who set this challege.  Now I see this stylish Michael Kors coat I almost wished I bought mine in green instead of black!  This is so on-trend now Hilda, and you'll get so much wear from this beauty ... Excuse me whilst I go see if I can get my original choice!!! Lol
See all the outfit details on the blog Over The Hilda.

Next shall we see what Gail picked?  The military style coat is a picture to see, love that regal burgundy fabric and it compliments the skirt perfectly.  See more from Gail on her blog - Is This Mutton?

Emma chose a spectacular coat in a vivid shade of orange.  The contrasting collar looks brilliant Emma, although you won't be needing a coat on your holiday Hunny - hope you're having fun. x  find out more details from Emma over on the blog - Style Splash.

Finally here's what Anna found for the task.  How about this gorgeous design on Anna's coat, it's a super pretty colour that is looking amazing over the Topshop dress.  Find more on Anna's blog - Anna's Isand Style. x

Thanks for joining me and the girls today, I hope we've given you some food for thought with our cosy coat selection.
Have you bought a new coat this season?  If so do let us know what your choice has been, would love to know.
Cheerio for now. X

  4. One can never have too many warm coats. I have two from Primark from last year which I have worn to death. I meet my friends for coffee and we sit out in all kinds of weather, so warm is essential. I like the length of yours because it means the bum is warm too.

  5. I'm glad you found a nice new jacket in the end, I think it's good to have a lot of coats when you like in the cold UK like you do! We were all so cold when we went over in spring time in 2019, it was like winter to us!

the leopard print scarf looks great with this too!

Hope that your week is going well :)
