Vibrant & feminine OTS Dress - #Chicandstylish #LINKUP

Hi there my friends, hasn't it been scorching weather recently?
I must admit to finding it a tad too much at times - I'm sure it won't last too long so I should just try to enjoy it. Trouble is doing everything I want to do makes it twice as hard when it's hot!  I've still been to gym classes and have done work in the garden, but it's totally taken it's toll on me!

The garden is looking really nice now, I'm keeping on top of the grass cutting and with the flowers blooming everywhere, it's a real joy to sit outside.  Today I've planted some wild flower bombs - I can't wait for them to grow and I'll be putting them near my little bee hotel - think that might be quite helpful to them.

On Tuesday I joined my daughter and mum for an afternoon tea.  It was actually my mum's present from my daughter for Christmas, but with covid and lockdown Tuesday was the earliest opportunity to go.  They invited me too which was so lovely - I really do enjoy an afternoon tea and had fun spending the whole of the afternoon with them both at our local  nearest Cafe Rouge in Bluewater.  We dined on sausage rolls, quiche, ham and lettuce rolls followed by my favourite ... Scones, jam and clotted cream, Fruity Carrot cake, Billionaire torte and Blackforest mousse.  We drank endless amounts of tea, but I just had to add the optional glass of Prosecco to my meal, well would have been rude not to!

Yesterday I did a lot of 'getting things done'  I tend to leave things to the last minute & if they don't need doing I wont start them ... my mum calls it 'finding it hard to get to first base'  my daughter spurred me on and I got about 3/4 of the list completed.  Not big endless tasks, just small things like arranging a carpet cleaner and sewing part of my ripped gazebo.  It's quite refreshing to finally tick them and a few other jobs off my list!

I wanted to wear this pretty dress for afternoon tea, but quite frankly even this was too hot.  I wore a looser style dress which also came from F & F and felt cooler to wear than this more fitted style.

I'm always in my local F and F and often have a browse through their clothing section.  I spied this pretty bold floral and before I knew it I'd popped it into my trolley and home it came with me.
I was drawn to the vibrant shades and the length - I love to wear midi styles and know how well they suit my figure.  They are also easy to wear when the weather is warm.  When I tried this on I wasn't sure if it suited me, the back has an elasticated section which I thought might make it quite tight and restricting.  However once I'd got it on and had worn it for a bit I totally changed my mind - it felt really comfortable on and wasn't tight at all - maybe I should have persevered with it for my trip to Bluewater!

The bright print of red and coral roses worked well with my colouring - I find I can wear lively colours and am often drawn to all the shades of the rainbow.  I don't really have a signature colour but I often gravitate towards hues of pink.

The A style design has a lovely big frill on the hem which I'm a big fan of, I also like the should detail - it can either be worn on the shoulder or slipped down to create a softer more feminine look.  Which do you prefer?

I kept the accessories simple, letting the dress do all the talking.  I paired white braid mules - these are everywhere at the moment and I'm smitten with the style.  The block heel is a winner for me too, they make for a sturdy style which I feel safe walking in.  Are you a fan of the mule style?

Time for the party to arrive, it's #Chicandstylish #LINKUP time.

  4. Jacqui, what a beautiful dress! I would have been drawn to this big bold floral print, too, except for the colors are not my best ones. But they look absolutely gorgeous on you. I am loving the braided style mule sandals right now as well. I am so glad that you enjoyed tea with your daughter and mum. It sounds like a lovely day out!

  5. Your dress is gorgeous! Love the oversized floral print and smocking detail! Thank you for the linkup!

  10. I am loving braided mules myself and just picked up a pair like yours in brown. Your dress is lovely and the orange shade looks great with your skin! Nothing quite like scones with jam and clotted cream!

  14. I struggle with the heat too, Jacqui. I really should be living somewhere much cooler than Portugal lol! But I imagine England is quite unbearable when it's over 30. I hear it's very humid? At least we don't have many days like that here.
I'm loving the dress, so I can see why you had to have it! I like it when the sleeves are off the shoulder—super pretty!
    I hope you're having a lovely weekend.
    Suzy xx
