Check trousers from Krisp.

Hiya, how are you over fifty bloggers doing?
How's your Christmas shopping going?  Are you an 'I've got everything already' or 'I'm leaving it until Christmas Eve' person?  Me... I'm somewhere in between!  I've bought a few pieces already, but still have a mountain of presents to decide on, buy and wrap, although I'm making a concerted effort to get most of them done this week, I hate struggling nearer the time and vow every year not to put myself through a difficult run up to the festive period.  I'll keep you posted how I get on!

Tartan, check or plaid, whatever you call it, it's in fashion!  Everyone is wearing it in some form or another!  So I was pleased to receive these grey check trousers from Krisp recently.

Items marked with * have been gifted to me, however these are 100% my own honest comments.

Having been asked to select a few pieces from Krisp clothing, I thought I'd try these check trousers. I also picked a plaid jacket, this sassy leopard skirt, another leopard print piece and this sweet pussy bow neutral blouse.
I've seen many of you wearing check over the past few weeks so decided to pick these 'peg' style trousers.  Reminiscent of the 80's they are so easy and comfortable to wear.  Fitting on the waist, which is very flattering, lose on the leg, tapering down to a perfect finish for my pull on boots.
I wasn't confident enough to go for the full red tartan that my friend Nancy chose or the bold plaid of Shelbee's leisure dress, I've gone for a less is more approach - opting to match the subtle charcoal check that has a lighter grey running through, with a bright and cheery red roll neck jumper.  I've replaced the near invisible black belt for a vivid red one.

The trousers are available in two colour choices, charcoal like mine or a sweet light grey.  I felt the darker tone more fitting for our ghastly weather in the UK. Mind you I might pop back and order them in the other shade because they've now been reduced to a mere £10 + delivery.  I'm wearing a UK14 which is true to size (these shots were taken mid-weight loss, so they are a bit baggy now).
I'm doing the "see I can stand on one leg pose" here!

For this occasion & keeping with the red theme I picked my delicious red shimmer sock boots - I received them from Lotus shoes a month or so ago, and you can catch when I got my legs out and wore them with this fabulous wrap dress from M & S.

Keeping warm with my ever popular fur gilet/vest that works a treat to finish off my ensemble, along with a western style silver necklace and a helpful crossover bag - I'm ready for a spot of Christmas shopping, or cheeky lunch date!

Are you a wearer of check?  Let me know what your favourite pieces are, I might need some ideas to copy!

I just have to mention and wholeheartedly thank Catherine from Not Dressed as Lamb who's promoting and supporting the over forties/fifties bloggers.  We're vying for your vote in the #UKBlogAwards.  As you may know I'm in the running and hoping to get your vote for my little ole' Fashion/Lifestyle blog - Mummabstylish - Fashion sectionMummabstylish - Lifestyle section.

  2. You've styled these trousers so well, Jacquii. The narrow belt and fur vest add so much to the overall look--great job!!! Plus, I'm envious that you can wear a paper bag style waist-ha!

  4. A Christmassy look and worn with the fur gilet you can comfortably slip in and out of the shops. Or do some sofa snuggle up with your grandson!
I'm pretty much there on the pressies though am looking for a little fun pressie for the GKs as their main pressie is quite practical this year and I wake up in a cold sweat at night imagining a deflated "oh" when they open them!! Good luck with yours.

  8. These trousers are great! Love the waist on them. And I ADORE that gilet! As for check pieces, I typically only wear checked accessories like hats, scarves, etc. But I've been seeing some tartan trousers this season that I am really drawn to! Great post.

  10. Jacqui, I love this outfit for the holidays! The high waisted trousers are so flattering and I love the layers and colors you chose to wear with them. Those boots have me dying over here! So sparkly and ever so pretty! And I have only just started my Christmas shopping yesterday and will finish next weekend. Mostly because we are getting some sort of live pets for the kids (hermit crabs or something) so I have to wait until the last minute in order to effectively hide them! Merry Christmas to you!
