Summer Loving having a Blast with Style not Age.

Morning my friends.
Well that was a scorcher! With not a lot of actual sunshine on Sunday

David has been away on the stag weekend and he’s not back until tomorrow. For me it’s been hard as we’re ALWAYS together. I’ve been with my daughters and the grandkids so it’s been fun but I hate not having him around!

I’ve went to the Ashford outlet yesterday, but came home with nothing but a sports bra! The shops are dire and I’m going to have to resort to shopping online! I need some summer flats to take away, but didn’t see any I really liked so I’ve been doing the thing I hate … scrolling the web. It’s so boring and I get so annoyed, anyone else have that problem? I’ll just have to do little and often, and fingers crossed I find what I want. 🤞

My post today features three of my lovely friends from the Style not Age gang and this month we’re
Summer Loving and having a blast with our favourite Summer outfits that have been on repeat over the past few weeks. Stay tuned to find out what my three friends have been reaching for.

The Lucky Cat - Chic & Stylish Linkup

Morning all.
How are you all doing?

Ooh it’s been hot here in the UK with temperatures registering the highest ever in June! It’s has been almost unbearable but I still managed to do two gym classes yesterday and did a clean at the AirBnb which was extremely hot! Home to get a bit cooler, by doing the ironing lol. The evening was better after a cold bath and a glass of fizz!

It’s been way too hot for me to take any photos over the past couple of days - so today I’ll share an insight into my Saturday night which was spent in London at Gordon Ramsey’s Lucky Cat restaurant in Bishopsgate.

Balloon Trousers with Flats.

Hello and welcome to my blog.

For any new followers I’d like to tell you a bit about myself. I started blogging a few years ago when my youngest started work. He’s the youngest of five children and with him at work I felt very redundant. I’d become very forgetful and had almost lost my way with fashion and how I should be dressing. So I looked for inspiration on other blogs and found there’s not a rule of what I should and shouldn’t wear - and everyone should wear what they want at any age. So Mummabstylish was born and I’ve loved the whole journey. I’ve made lots of new friends, even meeting some IRL which is so much fun, almost like meeting a celebrity! To date I’ve published over a thousand posts! It’s something I’m incredibly proud of what with having to learn nearly everything along the way. I’ll continue to do so and find it really therapeutic, it’s kind of like writing a diary and it’s been fun to look back on previous posts to see what I’ve been doing! lol.
I thank you for your continued support and hope one day I can meet some of my American friends across the pond.

Anyway that’s enough about me, now I’d like to show what I wore last week, more importantly the new balloon trousers I’ve been having a friendship with.

Styling Balloon Jeans - Chic & Stylish Linkup

Morning my friends.
Hope your week is going well.

Are you watching the football? It’s the World Cup which is being played in America. I normally dislike watching games on telly but have revelled in these. I’m fully supporting England, but I’m not holding my breath for them to do well. Yesterday’s game was alright, with the 4.2 win against Croatia going down very well with the fans. They played really well in the second half but the first wasn’t what I expected professional players to be like. So let’s see how the next games go.

I’m excited for the weekend or more importantly Saturday night. For my birthday last month David arranged a table at Gordon Ramsey’s London restaurant The Lucky Cat in Bishopsgate. I watched the documentary about how it was put together and fancied going and now I am. I think his advertising company is spot on. What better way to attract customers than do a television program about the adventure. It seems to have really taken off and is hard to get booked in. We went on the waiting list and fortunately it came up after a few days. I so excited to go there and can’t wait to see the setting, it overlooks London, and enjoy the atmosphere of the Asian inspired restaurant. I wonder if Mr Ramsey will be there! I’ve not planned my outfit but will do a post and possible Instagram story sharing my evening.

White Wide Leg Trousers With a Yellow Top.

Happy new week to you all.
Did you have a good weekend?

Mine went well with lots done. Friday was the first dancing in a few weeks. We started the foxtrot and I picked all the step up quite well. I’ll try to download the video so you can see how I did.

Saturday was a busy one. I took the car to be cleaned before returning home to mow the lawn. With perfect conditions the grass had grown long, however it was that straggly stuff that didn’t have much to it so I’d got it finished in no time. I then did an Airbnb clean and came home to address the strimming. I’d been putting this off for a while because I needed to roll new cord onto the spool. After three attempts (it kept unraveling at the last minute) David came to the rescue and did it for me (it took him a couple of go’s too) I did all the edges and marvelled at how neat and tidy it looked. I’d cleared and tidied a few bits in the garden so felt very pleased with my efforts.
David and I were in the new build chatting about the bathroom fittings and how the layout would be. We’ve more or less got that sorted so will be checking out bathrooms & showers in the next week. I’m starting to get very excited because the pipe work is nearly finished on the top and middle floor. David has been doing it, which I’m so impressed with. He really can turn his hand to anything. We’re getting a plumber to fit the boiler and connect the pipes up but it certainly saved us a bit of money. I’ve helped out where I can, pulling pipes and holding tools, so feel every little bit helps!

The girls came round in late afternoon to try on bridesmaid dresses, which was lovely. They’re all still undecided on a style but Sophie has the colour she wants which is a start! I need to get looking for mine, I’ve seen a couple of dresses online but need to find out where I can actually try some on. I’ll keep you posted my friends.

Read on to find out how the rest of my Saturday night and Sunday went, this was the outfit I wore.

Halara Wid Leg Jeans - Chic & Stylish Linkup.

Morning all.
Hope this post finds you well.

It’s been a relaxed week so far. I even felt a tad lost on Tuesday because there wasn’t much to do! I got lots of washing done and even did some clearing out and adding bits to Vinted. My balance is looking rather good at the moment as I’ve been adding a couple of items every so often and they seem to be popular. There’s no rhyme or reason as to what’s going to sell so it’s just a matter of adding stuff and seeing how it goes. I’ve bought a dress on there recently which I’m waiting to see what it’s like when it arrives, it for the hen weekend so colour and style is under wraps at the moment!

I took a trip up to Westwood Cross on Tuesday, I wanted to get some shorts for David in TK Maxx and found just the ones he wanted. You might know they sell designer clothing at a fraction of the original price and I bagged two pairs of Polo Ralph Lauren shorts for just under £50 each!! I also had a wander around River Island and came home with a lovely pair of white wide leg trousers that were on the sale rail. The price tag if £29 was very appealing so I sealed the deal and purchased them immediately. I’ll style them soon so you can see the white beauties.

My Weeknd in Keswick, Lake District.

Hi there,
How you doing so far.

My weekend went really well, but the week went really quickly. It doesn’t seem that long ago that I was up in the Lake District enjoying time away in Keswick with David just having a really nice time wandering around the lake, catching the water boat, lounging around the hotel and eating gorgeous food whilst enjoying lots of fizz.

Our weekend break started on Saturday morning. Quite an early start as we wanted to get the most out of our time away. The journey tool roughly 6 1/2 hours so not too bad. We didn’t even need to stop en route which I’m actually quite proud of. You see for years I’ve suffered from irritable bladder and am always in need of the loo, or so I thought. It seems it’s mind over matter, as when I’m sitting down or in a different situation my mind is occupied elsewhere and I don’t even need the loo! I was the same for the return journey on Monday, so I’m trying to practise not going to the loo unless I REALLY need to go.

So back to Saturday morning. We left home at 7am with a car packed up with everything we’d need for our two night stay (yes I know I packed for a week in all honesty).
David had studied the route and worked out we’d be passing Appleby, which is the well known gathering point for gypsies and travellers to gather for the annual horse fair. It’s got more personal meanings for David as his Dad had many friends that went there and as he’d visited a few times in his later life meant it was a bit of a holy grail for David to go to. We dropped in that afternoon. With lovely hot weather and a quiet setting we spent a wonderful hour wandering the riverside and pathways which, I’m sure, David’s dad had walked. We saw horses being washed in the river, horse deals being struck and horses with carts being run up and down the little roadways. It was quite a spectacle and very humbling. It turned out to be really emotional and a big reminder of my beloved father-in-law and his exciting excursions.

Paradox Shoes & Bag - Chic & Stylish Linkup

Good morning my friends.
Hope June is going well.

Since getting back from The Lake District I’ve been a bit blue! I keep telling myself I’m lucky to have been away but I find it so hard to get back to normal duties. Do you ever feel like that? I seem to feel like it every time I go away nowadays!
Wedding preparations are in full swing with bouquets being put together and some more bridesmaid sample dresses being sorted. I’ve seen a few MOTB dresses but haven’t committed to anything yet! Sophie has got everything under control and I’m so proud of everything she’s done so far, she definitely knows what she wants and deserves the best.

I’m working on a post about my weekend in Keswick soon and will publish that asap, but today I’ll show you my new shoes and bag. They’re from a company called Paradox London, and I can confirm they’re extra comfy, made with exceptional fabrics and their website has loads of pretty choices, I’ll keep them in mind for wedding shoes once I’ve got the dress.

May Review.

Good morning.
Hope you’re well today.

Welcome to the first post of June, the beginning of Summer. Let’s hope we didn’t have that last week in those few hot days! 🤭
Apologies for being late, I've been away over the weekend and just didn't get a chance to blog! I hope you saw my stories on Instagram as It was a super little break, I plan to share next week if you missed it though.

As it’s the first Monday  Tuesday of the new month, shall we look back on what I wore in May for the … May Review.

With temperatures rather low at the beginning of the month I was dressed in layers rather than anything befitting sunshine.  I took full advantage of the sun with my new co-ord here. This khaki green two piece was a bargain from Primark.  It only cost £20 for both items, I consider that a brilliant buy.  The wide leg trousers have an elasticated waist and pockets so makes it a versatile piece suitable for shopping as well as a lovely travelling suit.  The matching top is just so easy to wear.  It slips over the head and sits just below the waistband or can be neatly tucked in.  The colour is good as it'll pair nicely with gold pumps and trainers but can also be worn with heels for a stylish evening look - how would you wear it?

Halara Linen Feel Pants - Chic & Stylish Linkup

Hello everyone.
How’s it going?

The last Thursday in the month! Can you believe it?
We’ve had a mini heatwave here in the UK! It’s been crazy hot and I’m tempted to say that’s our Summer! lol No but really I hope it isn’t and even though I can’t seem to handle the heat now, I really hope it stays.
I’m away for a couple of nights at the weekend. David and I are spending a well deserved break in The Lake District. I’ve never been before and can’t wait to embrace the beautiful scenery around the hotel that I think is situated near one of the lakes. I’ll share some piccys on Instagram over the weekend, so you can see what it’s like.

I’m planning on a little capsule wardrobe for my trip. I’ve got a stunning new bag from Teddy Blake and plan on taking photos while I’m away. Here’s a little clue as to what colour it might be, it’s very bright so will be perfect for Summer. X

Style not Age share outfits From Spring to Summer.

Happy Bank Holiday Monday.
How are you?

Last week of May which means as it’s Monday I’ll be sharing the post with Anna, Emma and Hilda for the monthly Style not Age challenge.

Before I share the prompt let me tell you about my weekend. It started on Friday with a return to dancing after a week off. We’ve been learning the waltz and I’m loving this one (I know I say that every time) but it really was a beautiful routine with lots of turns and sways making it look very pretty, I just needed a full skirt and bouffant hairstyle.
Saturday morning I was up early and set about trimming the hedge, yes that hedge. It’s an ongoing saga that needs doing soon after I’ve finished the last bit - a bit like the Forth bridge! I’d cut the grass first which wasn’t too bad as without much rain recently its not grown very much. I got it done fairly quickly to be honest. The hedge is another matter, I have to get up on a metal podium to reach over to the back, it’s a tough job and I don’t honestly know how long I’m going to be able to do it! The most annoying thing is the straggly branch’s that hang over the neighbours garden! I can’t reach them and often wait for them to cut them off, but until now, they’ve never touched them! I reckon it gets my OCD going!!
Yesterday I didn’t do too much as I was really achy! I ended up doing a few jobs in the house along with cleaning the Airbnb. That didn’t take long the hardest bit was trying to find a parking space! The town was packed with plenty of day trips enjoying the sunshine, have you ever been to Whitstable?
In the afternoon I went to my daughters for a BBQ as it was her husband’s birthday. With plenty to eat and drink whilst sitting in the sunshine was wonderful, the weather was amazing and very hot! My tan is gradually making a very small appearance … lol!

So back to the prompt, Anna set the challenge and she’s chosen a very apt topic of  … From Spring to Summer.

Halara Trousers - Chic & Stylish Linkup

Hi all.
How’s it going?

Thursday already, where did the week go?
Not much to report this week. I’ve done my usual gym classes and am off to ballet this morning, but other than that it’s been very quiet. I had planned on getting a few photos taken this week, but for one reason or another it didn’t get done! I’m needing some new Spring/Summer items to add to what I’ve already got in the wardrobe, but the shops aren’t offering much up. I need to go into town to get a new eyeshadow so will have a look to see what I can find.

I’ve been selling on Vinted recently and am doing fairly well, it’s quite contagious getting rid of my charity piles and even if something only sells for a couple of quid it’s nice to know somethings getting a new lease of life. I’ve also bought a few bits. I found a fab pair of white wide leg jeans from H&M on there and snapped up the bargain for only £10. Such a shame when they arrived and they’re too small! So annoying because I’ve got the same pair in light wash denim which fit beautifully - why does white denim always come up small? I also found a pair of black culottes and paid only £6 for the brand new with tags item, I wore them on Monday to a funeral. I share them with you soon and tell you how the outfit was born.

Do you love a comfy pair of trousers? Then this is just the post for you.

My Birthday!

Hi there everyone.
Well that was the second busy birthday weekend!

It was mine on Friday followed by Amelia’s, my granddaughter who was 12 and yesterday it was my sons!

Friday was lovely. I really felt very spoilt with lots of family and friends stopping by in the daytime and all the kids joining me for a couple of drinks and a takeout in the evening. I got some beautiful cards with lovely words written in them. I so appreciate having cards with nice comments in them, something I love more and more as I get older. David is taking me to The Lucky Cat in London which is one of Gordon Ramsey’s chain. I watched the documentary about him getting it ready and was eager to go see it for myself - what a great gift? The kids gave me a super co-ord, the same as the one I shared last week, but this is beige.

Amelia was 12 on Saturday and it doesn’t seem two minutes ago that we were running down their road after she was born early at home! She growing into a beautiful young lady and for her present I’m taking her to Bluewater for a shopping trip followed by dinner in her favourite restaurant. Girls trips are the best aren’t they. 👏

Yesterday was my eldest son Jake’s birthday. He was taking his daughter to a gym competition in the afternoon so we went for breakfast with him, his family and my other son. The girls couldn’t make it but we still had a super time. I managed to embarrass him with a celebration cake made by Sophie which the waitress presented to him complete with candle and a chorus of  “happy birthday” 🎊 Do you ever embarrass your children?

So this is what 62 looks like!

F&F Sundress - Chic & Stylish Linkup.

Hi there everyone.
Good to have you here.

Well hasn’t the weather had a change of heart! It’s been freezing here lately, so-much-so I even put the heating on the other day! It’s also been raining on and off, especially yesterday when I went to the shops and had to dodge the rain. I went with my girls to Maidstone for a dress fitting and the rain was pouring hard one minute & the next it was sunny.  I didn’t do any shopping but had a lovely time with the girls talking wedding plans and reminiscing about old times. It was hard to see the shopping centre rather bare with plenty of empty shops! Such a change from yesterday-years! I loved Christmas shopping there and it always had so much choice! I hate how our town centres have taken a turn for the worse, and reckon it’s because lots of people now shop online - something I hate! I’ve been trying to look for a Mother of the Bride dress, with no luck so far! I prefer to go to a shop and physically see an outfit and try it on! It’s not quite the same looking online (they never look the same) purchasing (you have to pay in advance for any you want to try) and then return what’s not wanted! I just hate it. Bring back proper shops I say!
My post today is a bit ironic with the weather we’ve been having, but I wanted a pretty sundress for an upcoming holiday.

I couldn’t quite put my finger on what this pattern reminded me of, but instantly, when I put it on the other day I remembered my mum’s curtains!

A New Primark Stretch Top.

Morning my friends.
Did you have a good week?

I've had a busy one starting with dancing on Friday where we learnt a new routine for the waltz. It's a wonderful dance and I loved learning the new steps and managed to work my way around the dance floor quite elegantly.  That was under the supervision of the teacher, who's very good at his job!

Saturday, after watching my grandson in his football match (they won and he got a trophy for best goal), I came home to cut the grass. Both front and back took a couple of hours which included trimming our willow tree and collecting the spoil. I was exhausted at the end and was pleased to spend the evening with my daughter having a BBQ that her husband cooked. First one of the season and with fairly good weather I even sat in the garden whilst it was cooking. Have you had a BBQ yet?

Sunday morning started well - I enjoyed having a lie in & then I had the Airbnb clean to do with my daughter. It’s in the heart of Whitstable and is quite popular with visitors! Have you ever been to Whitstable?
When that was done I came home to get ready for a friends birthday celebration. It was a lovely afternoon where I enjoyed roast lamb, chicken and potatoes with a couple of tasty salads, halloumi cheese and flat bread. It was delicious and both David and I had a wonderful time. They have a stunning house which overlooks the sea and I was happy to be inside as the wind was like gale force with the seas looking very rough indeed. A fun weekend that was over way too quickly. Gym today and the beginning of another fab week, what have you got planned?

Do you recall last Thursday I featured a khaki co-ord from Primark? Well this pretty pale blue top came from there too!

Co-Ord from Primark - Chic & Stylish Linkup.

Morning all.
How are you?

Have you had a great week? Mine’s been busy and I’m longing for a bit of a break so I can switch off for a bit. I’m excited to say I’m away at the end of the month. I’m taking David to the Lake District for a long weekend for his birthday. We’ve always wanted to go, so it’s all booked with a super hotel and lots of exciting things to discover. Have you ever been? Do give me some tips for the place.

I know it’s more of a destination for walking holidays, and that’s not something that really appeals to us, so we’ll be heading to the local shops, pubs and restaurants along with seeing the stunning views - I’m even taking a little sketch pad with me! Not that I’m any sort or artist! I’ll share on Stories and a dedicated post next month.

This might be a top contender for my weekend suitcase. I bought this co-ord in Primark on Tuesday, might have to go back for the other colours too! 😉

April Review.

Hi there,
Happy Bank Holiday Monday, it’s May Day in the UK.

I’ve had a super weekend again, filled with family, fun, fizz and laughter. The weather played ball with warmer temperatures and some sunshine, sprinkled with a little bit of rain that the garden needed, but as soon as it arrived it was gone again.
No plans for today. After a hectic couple of days I plan to do very little. I don’t think we’ll venture into town as it always gets so busy, especially if the weather’s fine. Have you anything exciting to do today?

It’s the first Monday of the month, so time to look back on April for the review.
Do let me know what your favourite post was, I’ve featured a mixture of styles and admit finding it hard to pick the best.

Welcome to the April Review.

First post was based around a new knit I didn’t know I needed until it arrived. It was a purchase from Vinted and it’s a piece of the fashion jigsaw that completed loads of looks. Here I framed the M&S fine knit top, which has short sleeves with some old pink jeans, my recent purchase from Primark brought together with a pretty silky scarf. Head over to read all about my week at the beginning of the month here.

A new Izabel Midi - Chic & Stylish Linkup

Good morning.
How are you?

Hope you're excited for the new month!  I am because it's my birthday month!

Didn't April fly by.  I had so much on, it was literally one thing after another.
Haven't had a chance to get into the new build much, which is a shame because I like to do my little bit.
David has been full on in there putting radiators in place so the pipe work can be fixed straight to it.  We're still a little way off from having the plastering done, but most of the other work on the middle and top floor is ready to go.  I've even got measurements for the kitchen which I need to take into a few kitchen planners so they can give me an idea of where everything is best placed, I must say it's getting exciting especially with my son-in-law creating room layouts on Chat GPT the bathrooms could be quite fabulous.

I'm planning another visit into town soon, I love to have a browse to see what's new in, and I hope to come home with a few new bits.  You'll be the first to know if and what I get!

The weather here really hasn't been all that good recently with either dull cold days, or sunny windy days. It's been making taking photos a bit of a nightmare.  I'd love to have some 'nice' days soon, some where I can take some good photos without having to deal with the cold wind!

So today I thought I'd share a recent new dress with you.  I've been affiliated with Izabel London for some time now and have another beauty to share with you.

Polka Dots with Style not Age.

Hello my friends.
Hope you are okay.

Last Monday of the month means the ladies gather together for the Style not Age challenge.
This month’s prompt fell into the hands of Emma and she’s given us the topical challenge of … Polka Dots.

I don’t have much in the way of spots in my wardrobe the only item I can really think of is a red and white spotty scarf. So I had to go looking and found this fab jumpsuit in Peacocks that looks stunning on. It’s one of those outfits you can dress up with heels and a fancy necklace for a night out or add flats or comfy sandals with a daytime bag and you’ve got an outfit suitable for a stroll to the club or family bbq.

An Over Fifty Outift - Chic & Stylish Linkup.

Hello there.
Thanks for stopping by my friends.

A quieter couple of days so I’ve managed to get my head in the right space. There’s been more time for blogging and social media with my recent collaboration finished, I’ll share that soon. I’ve neglected to take photos though, not much to report new except a pair of suede boots, but I’ll photograph them in the next week.
It’s my run of birthdays now, starting with my eldest daughters which is today. We’re heading over to her’s later to celebrate. I just hope there’s going to be cake and fizz.

Today’s outfit was one I wore a few weeks ago, but it’s a style I like to call home for me. 🌸

Primark - Skirt, knit & Flats.

Hello my friends.
How’s your weekend been?

Another chaotic one for me!
Friday I was back dancing. I’ve had three weeks off due to the Easter break so it was nice to get back into it. We’d chosen the cha cha cha, which was good fun. I picked up the steps easily and was soon dancing across the floor with a little sass and a lot of flair, even if I do say so myself!

Saturday I had a bit of a later start than the past few weeks - with a nice little lie in! I eventually got up to head down to clean the Airbnb before returning home to get ready to travel to London, bridesmaid dress shopping. My daughter got lots of ideas for colours and styles and all the bridesmaids came along too so we all got a good idea of what worked for their figures. It was a busy day that was quite tiring. We got home at a reasonable hour but still I felt knackered!
After the big ‘try on session’ we wanted food. We headed back to the main station and found a great venue opposite Victoria called the Market Halls. It’s full of individual eateries ranging from burgers, fried chicken, noodles, kebabs to name but a few. There was also live music and couple of bars along with a rooftop terrace - but cold for us but a fantastic atmosphere. I had a chicken burger and later picked up a cocktail can for the train journey home!

My Damart Co-Ord - Chic & Stylish Linkup

Morning all.
Hope you’ve had a super week.

Seems I’m coming down with a cough and cold! There’s been a lot about recently so it was always going to happen! It’s not too bad but more annoying really.

I’ve had a good few days, still busy but all okay. I took my young grandson EKarting on Tuesday. It’s what he wanted for a birthday present and wanted me to take him. It was so nice having one-to-one time with him and we had a nice laugh. He throughly enjoyed the karting and was very talented. He came first which he was thrilled about. I watched from the side lines, slightly tempted to have a go myself but didn’t in the end. From the Karting track we headed over to McDonald’s for a burger before heading home. I love my little outings and can’t wait for the next one with my granddaughter. You might remember her’s is the day after mine which is next month.

Yesterday, after my two gym classes, and a quick visit to my mums, I returned home to the front room carpet being cleaned. I hope it stays nice for the foreseeable, but I fear previous stains often make a re-appearance, so I’ll be keeping an eye on that. I cooked a lovely Italian lamb dish for our dinner last night, it’s slow cooked in white wine, carrots, celery and onion, with stock and some fresh tomatoes. I served it with new potatoes, runner beans and asparagus, it was really very tasty and went down a storm with hubby, do let me know if you’d like the recipe!

Today’s outfit is going to be one of those all-round winners. The co-ord is such a striking shade of blue it’s perfect for Spring and Summer!

My F&F Jacket.

Morning all.
How are you?

Did your first weekend in April go well?
A busy one for me with a fabulous dinner with friends sandwiched in between helping Sophie with two cake stalls on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday’s was a new one for her and a first for the venue too. She did okay and got herself noted for further events in the coming months, I just hope the weather improves next time because it’s on a hill overlooking the estuary - so was extremely windy! We had to hold the gazebo down at times and sent out messages for who ever was visiting us to bring a big coat!
Sunday was less intense as the stall was inside, trouble was when we arrived we were right by the window which had super sunshine rays flooding in, good for me to be warm but not good for the butter cream and cakes!!
I felt totally exhausted when I got home, having to have a sneaky sleep mid-afternoon!
Monday seemed to arrived way too quickly for my liking!
I’ve got a couple of things on this week, so maybe I’ll have a bit of a more time to relax!

Statement Collar - Chic & Stylish Linkup

Good morning my friends.
How's your first week of April going?

Apologies for the late posting, it’s been a busy one for me.

It's been a busy few days for me.  We had a full on Easter and since then I've had a big job that's under wraps along with helping my daughter with her AirBnb & also doing the laundry for her and the clean!  The grandkids have been on Easter holidays so I've seen the a couple of times which has been super.
Did you get up to much of the holiday period?

Managed to get my nails done yesterday. My daughter does them for me, which is super.  I even get to see the kids when she does them! Doesn't it feel so much better when your nails are all pretty and styled?  I went for a light dusky pink which I think will be perfect for Spring clothing.  I also did my tan.  I use St Moritz and can reach nearly everywhere and only need a willing hand to do my back!  Again I feel so much healthier when I've got bronzed skin, gone are my days of using the sunbed!  It's so bad for you isn't it!

Today I want to share my statement collar with you. Do let me know if this is something you’d wear?

March Review.

Hello everyone.
So nice you could join me today.

Happy Easter Monday. Did you have a lovely weekend? Mine has been amazing and just how I wanted it to be.
Good Friday was spent in the garden, cutting the grass and finishing off the hedge I started a couple of weeks ago. It’s nice and tidy now so hopefully I can keep on top of it.
Saturday was also busy but I was doing housework in between seeing the kids and grandkids who popped by at various times.

On Sunday we had the annual Easter Egg Hunt. All the grandkids came round and enjoyed looking for the eggs and sweets that my daughter had arranged in the garden. It didn’t look like much when it was sitting on my dining table but when they came in with buckets overflowing I realised they had plenty. It was like a mad house with lots of laughter, and few squabbles and plenty of chatter - it was a good sight to see and hear. Do you have the Easter bunny arrive at your house?

So in the afternoon we had 15 to a big roast turkey dinner. It was delicious and as usual I overate, especially when the dessert was served! I’d made a bread and butter pudding, inspired by a friend who’d made it for me and David a few weeks ago. It was made with brioche bread which was delicious and went down very well with a splash of cream. Guess what’s happening today though?
Well I’m doing it all again with my son and his family and my other son who couldn’t make it yesterday. There’s plenty of turkey left so it’s just a case of making more roasties and preparing some more veg.

It’s the first Monday of April, therefore it’s time to look back on last month’s posts to see what I was doing  ….
Welcome to the March Review.

Sunny yellow for my first post in March. I was trying desperately to entice the sunshine, alas it’s not fully arrived here yet, but there’s been hints of what’s coming with the odd warmer & sunny days. My pretty dress is from Izabel London. It’s a company I’m pleased to say I’m still affiliated with. Checkout the full story via this link.

Just one piece - Chic & Stylish Linkup

Morning my friends.
Welcome to the first blog post of April!

I’m really excited for better weather and Spring outfits, it’s been hinting that warmer temps are on the horizon. I really want to be wearing lighter clothes but I’ve been so cold with biting winds and cooler conditions I’ve hardly embraced my Spring looks yet and I’m so annoyed about it!

I’ve tried to add Spring looks recently but have ended up turning to my warming sweatshirts and jumpers to keep me warm. Have you had this problem?

Todays look features a new knit from Vinted, it’s a comfortable little piece that’s going to get a lots of wear very soon I hope!

I want to share the fact that you might have plenty of separates hanging in your wardrobe but sometimes you just need that little extra piece to make the outfit work.

Muted Shades in March for SNA

Good morning my friends.
How weird it’s the end of March.

Didn’t that month go by in a flash! I’m interested to create next Monday’s March Review, it’s good to be reminded what I’ve been wearing … and doing!

Today’s outfit seems to have fallen right into place as the prompt about muted shades is just what my Cotton Traders dress and cardigan is all about!

Easter next weekend with the usual Eater Egg Hunt and roast dinner on Sunday. Due to a couple of birthdays over the weekend (remember April and May is birthday heavy for me) we decided to do the hunt on Sunday and have a roast turkey both Sunday & Monday. It’s what we usually do over Christmas and with the huge turkey we’ve got (we get two for Christmas and freeze one for Easter) it’s going to cover both days. What do you do over Easter?

As it’s the last Monday of the month it’s the turn of Style not Age ladies to share their outfits with you.
The prompt was set by me, I opted for the easy-to-find …

Argyle Jumper From Tu Clothing - Chic & Stylish Linkup

Morning everyone.
Hope you are all okay.

Another week that’s flown by!
Where does the time go!

My life seems to be busier than ever now. Family life is hectic but I love it. Spending time with the kids and their families is lovely. There’s always something going on and I’m needed in so many different ways that I never expected. For me that’s the beauty of my over fifty blog. I can do it when I want to and when I have the time and should I be needed elsewhere I can leave it. Although lots of the time it’s harder to get back into it!

Today’s outfit started off with the argyle jumper. I found it in Tu clothing and it’s been hanging in my wardrobe for a few weeks. I finally found the right skirt with my burgundy faux leather midi - a great look don’t you think!

High Street Outlet - DKNY Dress.

Hi everyone.
Hope you are all doing okay.

Well we're moving through March at a pace aren't we!
April is on the horizon and that means lots of birthday celebrations for me.

With warmer weather over the weekend I decided it was time to trim the hedge! The cherry plum bushes haven’t had a chance to grow that much so although the job was hard it wasn’t as bad as it has been. It took me a good few hours to trim it as I had to move the aluminium podium every so often as I moved along. That was hard as was leaning over to make sure I’d got all the branches! Once I’d done the top and side I decided to call it a day on that and set about tackling the grass verge where the spoil had fallen. I went up and down a few times to not only collect the twigs but cut the grass and weeds too. Once that was finished I set about the back and front grass, collecting all the cuttings this time instead of leaving them on the ground. I had to empty the box every so often and fortunately had a skip to put it in! By the end of the day I was exhausted! I had an early night after having a takeaway curry. Cooking was the last thing I felt like doing! So my garden is looking much tidier now, & I plan to keep on top of the mowing so it’s stays like that!

Today I thought you’d like to see my new dress and this cute colour mix with my dress from High Street Outlet.

Barrel Leg Jeans from Blue Vanilla - Chic & Stylish Linkup

Morning all.
Sorry no post again on Monday, after getting back to a busy household on Sunday (I've been skiing) it didn't leave much time for blogging and I felt so tired after the early morning - we got up at 3.15 am!!

It's also been a busy week, so much so I've not been to my usual gym classes.  There's so much to catch up on after a week away.  I'd missed a couple of birthdays, so had to drop cards and gifts off, along with doing the washing, ironing etc and yesterday I was in London to view the Summer collection from Damart.  It wasn't really a long day, but lots of walking and plenty of talking - I was quite worn out last night!

With better weather on the horizon I'm really looking forward to getting into Spring clothes.  I'm planning on going through my wardrobe's again. I've got so much stuff it's often hard to find just what I want, sometimes forgetting just what I have. I need to get it into more of an orderly fashion so wish me luck for that one! Lol.

Skiing in Andorra - Chic & Stylish Linkup.

Hiya.
How are you?

Sorry there was no post on Monday, I’m away skiing and as you can imagine the first day is rather busy!
I’m in Andorra which is a new place for me to try and having never skied here before it’s been wonderful.
The transfer was quite long as we flew into Barcelona, the other airport in France wasn’t an option because apparently the road from there had been damaged by an avalanche! Scary to think that could happen!
The hotel is in the town of Arinsal which is about 5 mins bus transfer to the gondola and then a ten minute journey up the mountain to the lockers where we kept our skies etc
It’s been a new concept for us as we normally opt for a ski in ski out hotel, but this hasn’t t been a problem and has also given us the opportunity to visit some of the local pubs. I must say everyone we’ve met so far has been so friendly and welcoming - the hotel restaurant manager even gave us a lift up to the gondola on the first day!

Luxurious Yellow Midi - Chic & Stylish Linkup.

Good morning everyone.
What have you been up to since we last spoke?

A busy week for me and I'm away on Sunday for a week skiing with David.  Since 2001 we've gone skiing with the kids and good friends with our group booking reaching nearly 30 people!  It's just David and me this year so it's going to be very different.  Many of the kids have now either got families of their own or have just bought new houses or are saving for weddings!  A couple of our older friends have health issues or family commitments!  It's hard to see the group so small now, but I'm hoping it will improve over the next few years - that's until David and I may be too old or infirm to go!!!

Today I thought I'd share a recent addition to my dress section.  This pretty midi has been a welcomed addition as I know it will be worn time and time again!

February Review.

Hello my friends.
Hope to find you well.

How did your weekend fair? Mine went by in the flash of an eye. I was looking forward to a lovely weekend and then found myself on Sunday evening frantically writing this blog post!

Friday evening was spent learning the second part of the ballroom dance at my weekly class. We continued learning the foxtrot, the social dance that’s full of fast and slow movements which twist and turn at a fairly fast pace. I managed to grasp all the moves and as usual throughly enjoyed the whole dance. We generally learn a dance in two to three weeks and then move onto a new routine. The dance club also arranges dance events every month, but I never join them because they’re at the weekend - I don’t like to leave the family as my weekends with them and David are so precious. Do you like to spend all your weekends with the family?

Sunday, after helping Sophie at a cake sale for a well deserving cause, was spent with some of the kids and grandkids for a chicken roast. I’d prepared most of the vegetables before leaving and upon returning home, in the afternoon, I helped David complete the dinner. We had roast chicken and potatoes, with cauliflower cheese, carrots, swede, roasted parsnips and Yorkshire puddings, accompanied by stuffing and bread sauce. Do you have to have all the accompaniments when you have a roast?

As it’s the beginning of a new month I always have a post that looks back on the previous month and I like to share what I got up to. So welcome to the …
February Review.

Such a short month it seems like only yesterday i shared this gorgeous co-ord from Marks & Spencer. I’ve heard it’s in demand so I’m pleased I managed to find this outfit.
Do let me know if you preferred it together or separately!

Style not Age Go Red for Feb.

Welcome to the blog.
How are you my friends?

Did you have a good weekend? I was out to dinner on Saturday night, we had a wonderful evening at our daughters with a private chef preparing and cooking our dinner and I must say it was delicious.
If you’re like me and have only a few favourite restaurants that you like to frequent and are a bit dismayed with the restaurant chains, then maybe having a private chef cooking for you might be the answer. Six of us dined on a superb three course meal complete with canapés. We’d pre-booked our dishes which he’d suggested, leaving the choice of canapés to my daughter and her husband, although we had all given our preferences. In the end we had chorizo which had been marinated in Worcester sauce and had a sticky glaze over it. The king prawn option was divine too, that was covered in a fresh salsa of sweet chilli and lime. The other option was delicious and I could have eaten all the portions! It was a crispy pork belly covered in soy sauce, honey glaze and chilli. Yes they were all as tasty as they sound. X

I’ll continue to tease you later in the post but until then let me tempt you with the Style not Age collection who’re sharing their red outfits for the monthly challenge based on the prompt …

Navy & White with a Padded Jacket - Chic & Stylish Linkup

Hi there everyone.
How are you?

Another busy week with Shrove Tuesday in the middle of it. We had to have pancakes on Tuesday, so some of the kids came round to enjoy them too. Sophie made a huge pot of batter and after our dinner of spicy meatballs and pasta David set about making them. He made probably about 20! We all had different toppings but can you guess what I had? My favourite additions are banana and caramel which was divine. I only had one even though he’d made so many but to be honest that one was enough. We had other options like chocolate sauce, biscoff, kinder chocolate along with the basic favourite lemon and sugar. What’s your topping of choice?

I took a trip into town too. My eldest granddaughter came with me, she loves having a wander around the shops, just like me, including New Look, Primark, Boots and Superdrug. It’s actually a shame there aren’t many stores suitable for an 11 year old but she did find a pretty long sleeve top that came home with her. I heard in the news the re-opening of Top Shop. I’m thrilled that an old favourite is returning to the high street and pray many others will follow. I also asked Amelia if she preferred shopping in shops or online and she said the former. I’m excited as that’s what I would choose. Let’s hope high street shops continue to return so that buying online won’t be the norm! How do you like to shop?

My Weekend - Argyle Sweater.

Morning all.
Hope you’re well and have had a super weekend.

Another wonderful one for me. Dancing on Friday for which we completed the Rumba. It’s a lovely dance and I throughly enjoyed the twists and turns, trying hard to use my feet in the right way, apparently you have to glide across the floor sliding your feet without lifting them too much! You have to imagine having paper money under the balls of your feet and not letting it go! I won’t literally try this as I might end up doing the splits!😱

Saturday, after looking after Kimberley and Jack, my grandkids, I helped David with the plasterboard. I managed to cover a wall upstairs, albeit with some help from him and the new plasterboard drill bit he bought has been so helpful. It stops you drilling the screw in too far. I’m very proud of my achievements and I’m really pleased to be able to help. I was also on tea/coffee duty - I’m brilliant at that! 😂

Saturday evening we were at friends for a dinner party. It was lovely to catch up with some of our friends over a few drinks and delicious food. Both David and I can’t wait to have dinner parties in our new house. Ours doesn’t lend itself well to hosting, it’s rather small and really old! I know it’s not about the surroundings but more the company but it’s just doesn’t feel right. Do you understand how I feel about this? Our friends served a tasty salmon fillet which was accompanied by a creamy sauce, dauphinois potatoes and veg. We also had canapés of home made sausage rolls and breaded king prawns with spicy chilli jam. All of which we devoured by me and the other guests.  She’d also made a delicious Bakewell tart. Really was a super evening and I throughly enjoyed it even though it was a late night with a few too many glasses of fizz!
Sunday was a cold and wet day. After the AirBnb clean I came home to warm up. You know when you get so cold it takes ages to get warm! I stayed under the furry throw for a few hours before helping David prepare and cook steak with a Gorgonzola sauce over pasta. I did have a cheeky glass of white wine though, just to complete the dish you understand! 😆

Can’t believe I forgot to share this jumper with you, what do you think of this argyle beauty and what’s your favourite outfit?

Morning all.
What have you been up to since we last spoke?

You can let me know by adding your posts to the linkup below. I love to hear what you’ve been up to!

I’ve been busy with the family and gym/dance classes. I’ve also been helping in the new house and it’s coming along nicely. We’re almost ready to welcome the plasterers to work on the top two floors which is so exciting.
I’ve yet to buy anything for Spring. I’m waiting until the shops have an abundance to new stuff before I venture in. Have you bought anything new yet?

I’ve been having a play around with Chat GPT and got involved the latest craze. Have you heard of the app and have you used it?

Longing for Spring.

Good morning all.
Thanks for joining me today.
**Late Edit **
I forgot to hit publish yesterday! Grrr … so annoyed with myself!

Hoping you’ve had a super weekend. I spent Saturday working in the new build. The plasterboard is going up fast so we’ll be needing the chaps to come and plaster the rooms ready for second fix and painting, well not the whole house, just the top floor and first floor. I definitely need to get looking at bathrooms now, along with tiles. I’ve got lots of ideas floating around my head and on my Pinterest board which I can’t wait to start putting into practice.

Last week I noticed, through the raindrops, some branches showing signs of blossoming! It got me thinking about welcoming Spring. When I get to January it’s all dark and dismal in the garden and I stupidly think it’s going to stay like that for many months, but as we all know time carries on waiting for no man and the seasons begin to change right in front of our eyes. It won’t be long until Easter is here and before long the hotter weather will be with us and Summery clothing is what we’ll be reaching for. X

Now for me I’m only hoping for better weather today I’m sharing a look I recently wore that is trying to entice the Spring.

Co-Ord from M&S - Chic & Stylish Linkup

Morning all.
How are you my friends?

Mixed weather here as always, yesterday was beautifully sunny but the wind was up, the day before was positively horrible - very overcast and drizzly.  I had my hygienst appointment, which was wonderful - my teeth have looked so much brighter and cleaner since - it's totally worth the cost!
Gym classes as usual, which I'm really enjoying atm.  I go from hating the classes to not being able to get enough and wanting to go to more!  My classes include, spin, pilates, Body Attack and Legs, Bums and Tum's.  I do two on Monday and two on a Wednesday which works for me because it actually takes so much time out of the day.  I'd go everyday if I'm honest, but it doesn't leave much time for anything else!

You will remember I told you about a co-ord I picked from Marks & Spencer on Monday. Well I thought you’d like to see it featured today.

January Review.

Hiya.
How are you?

Hope you’ve had a great weekend and welcome to the first post of February.
Had a lazy day yesterday after a lovely night with friends on Saturday. I had a few too many drinks and suffered on Sunday, so much so I hardly did anything and ended up having a takeaway.
I’m excited for the brand new month and hope to see more Spring styles filtering into the shops. I bought a lovely co-ord from the M&S website and although I’ve not even tried it on I know it’s a “me” look. You’ll be the first to see it when I share the black and grey checked skirt and top which is a stretchy chiffon-esque fabric.

So another new month to enjoy. The first signs of spring have already arrived here. There’s daffodils down the road and the hedges are sprouting shoots, so along with the evenings becoming slightly lighter, I know it’s just around the corner although I’m still prepared for cold, wet weather with the odd much appreciated sunny days that appear every so often. ☀️

The first Monday of the new month always means sharing a reminder of what I was doing and wearing last month, welcome to the January Review.

I love wearing red as I feel it brightens everything up including my mood. It’s a good colour for positive feelings and making everything happier. Head over to this post to read how my grey, layered look evolved.

Darts Night.

Hello everyone.
Hope you’re all okay.

How’s your week been?
Another extra busy one for me.  I know I like to go to my gym classes but they do take up a lot of time. Seeing the kids is important to me too, so a lot of the time is spent with one or other of them which I love. I try to see my mum a couple of times a week along with talking to her on WhatsApp too. I shop for dinner ingredients daily. I know it’s a time waster and I could plan evening meals each week and buy in one hit, but that’s not how either David or I like to do it. I don’t visit the shops every week either but I usually pop somewhere every couple of weeks whether it’s bigger towns like Canterbury or my local Whitstable & Herne Bay, that’s to buy things like cards, toiletries & birthday gifts.
I headed over to Ashford Outlet yesterday. I had to exchange a Christmas present for David and the deadline was the end of this month so had to be done soon. I’d completely forgotten about changing the polo top, so had to rush over yesterday once I’d picked up the receipt from my son and daughter-in-law. Silly me though as I assumed (we all know what that means) it was from TKMaxx but it wasn’t. The top came from Abercrombie &Fitch so that was where I headed to. They didn’t have one in store but the helpful sales assistant did everything for me and arranged for a new one to be sent out in the correct size - brilliant.

I had a quick browse in the Marks & Spencer over there but nothing caught my eye. Although I’ve just picked up a co-ord from their website. I’m excited to share the check two piece with you, so do watch out for it soon.

You might have caught the snippet I mentioned on my last post where I spoke briefly about getting together with all the family. Such a joyful thing for me along with the other things I spoke about on this SNA post.  Let me share my exciting evening with you today.

Style Not Age share their Joyful January outfits.

Good Morning.
How your week been?

Can you believe it’s the last week of January?
It doesn’t seem two minutes since the last Style not Age challenge was being shared and here we are promoting the first one of 2026.

Anna from Anna’s Island Style picked this topic and she’s given an easy option that will suit all of us which is just as well as sometimes the next year can prove a bit more challenging!  She’s given us the helpful and extensively open title of … Joyful January

January is usually thought of as a dowdy depressing month. Christmas is done and dusted with all the pretty decorations and presents stored away or put to good use (mostly). The weather is usually horrible with dark early evenings and cloudy days, sometimes with a drop of snow but more often wet and windy here in the UK. Although we have the odd bright and clear day, which hints that Spring is on its way! This year has been a bit different for me. You can read about my two fantastic joyful Christmas presents from David on my last post here and last night was spent doing another of my favourite things that make me feel joyful …. being with David and the family. ❤️
