Style Steal - Chic & Stylish Linkup

Good morning my friends.
Welcome to the blog on the 2nd day of October!

How on earth has October come around so quickly?  Quite honestly I'm still waiting for Summer to arrive!
Me and David (mainly him) have been doing some work in the new build. I've been trying to help but I reckon I've been more of a hindrance. We've been putting sterling boards up on the wooden frames separating the rooms.  They are heavy.  I had the job of screwing the screws in with the drill, David had to lift them. Well if you've ever tried to drill it's hard.  So they kept going wonky and someone was a tad irritated by my lack of strength!  We got there in the end and the rooms are starting to take shape and I can get a good feel for how big and what the layout will be like.  If you fancy seeing you can get a peak over on my Mummabbuilds account.

I had a quick visit into Fenwicks in Canterbury on Tuesday.  I'd been recommended some Charlotte Tilbury makeup so wanted to pop in and have the assistant try a new foundation on me. I came home with two and so far (only one application) I'm very impressed.  I'll possibly do a post for you in the next week or so.

Today’s outfit was a copy from another Instagram’er. I seen her wearing this outfit last week and knew I’d got all the pieces to do similar.

A few years back I used to do a monthly Style Steal post and rather enjoyed it. I’d like to reintroduce it again possibly using blogging friends and friends from other social platforms outfits. So today I’m stealing a style from Alison, who’s on Instagram.

I started off with this full white skirt. I bought this in Primark back in the summer and although not wearing it that much I feel it’s a good staple for any wardrobe. I’m thinking of styling it with boots and a jumper, do you think that’ll work? It’s got big pockets and a half elastic waist. It stops midi to maxi length and looks good with sandals or ballet flats like I’ve worn here.

Next I reached for my new Tee shirt I got when I exchanged a pair of trousers the other week. It’s quite a thick material and feels sturdy on - looking more like a jumper top than a tee shirt. Chocolate brown is my new best friend, I’ve been adding different things in this shade to my wardrobe and like the softer feel it gives. Black can be so harsh can’t it.

I bought the faux suede jacket from Tu Clothing which is based in Sainsburys, my local supermarket. It wasn’t really the style I wanted but I couldn’t find the exact style but this has grown on me. I had to do a little alteration on it though. The sleeves were too long and the cuff was loose so the sleeves hung down over my hands! It didn’t take me more than 10 minutes to re-position them meaning the cuffs were narrower and stayed nicely in place. Suede and faux fabrics are trending now and a tan or chocolate version would be an excellent choice incase you’re thinking of buying one!

The red bag was a tad smaller than my friends but still looks good. I’ve learnt over the years that adding different colours and textures to a look makes it more appealing. I still like and wear my three-colour-mix but am trying to embrace blending colours and tones like this. I added my gold flats but really need some red and leopard print ones too. Let me know if you’ve seen any.

  1. Love this take on a Style Steal, your recreation looks so polished! The chocolate brown with the white skirt feels really fresh for fall, and I think boots and a jumper will definitely work for the cooler days ahead. Also, your little sleeve alteration was so clever; now the jacket looks like it was made for you.

  4. I will probably be November when I do, but this is definitely going to be a style steal for me. Took a screenshot and put it in my inspo folder on my phone and scheduling a blog post! Thank you for the feature! Style steals are one of my favorite things to do especially when I am trying to stay away from stores.

  5. It would be fun if you would do that series again! And I'm in love with your jacket. Just received two I ordered, they are similar, but they weren't that good.

  6. I like your look with the faux suede jacket, adding an autumnal feel to your outfit, and the red pop of color in your bag. It's great to gain inspiration from fellow bloggers and Instagrammers. I think a style steal segment is a fun idea! Thanks for sharing and hosting the link up, and I hope you have a good week!

  8. You look lovely! I do think that skirt would pair well with boots and a jumper too. We built our house 20+ years ago now and it really is such a big project. I found once we enclosed the rooms I had a much better feel for the size and layout too even tough I did have vague ideas beforehand.
