Cheeky night away! Re-thinking my colours.

Morning, have you got the Monday Morning Blues?

I wish I had the blues over the weekend,  the reds, greens and pinks!  Let me explain.  Had a cheeky night away on Saturday night to surprise our best friends on their weekend away.  Our other friends also joined in making a surprise arrival in the morning so our week of secret conversations, bookings and text messages all paid off when we appeared - they were so pleased we'd joined them, and knew we'd all be in for a fabulous, fun filled weekend!

Anyway back to the question of colours.  Whilst looking through the various photos of my weekend away I've noticed, with annoyance really, most of my colour choices were not colours at all!  Black, white and cream with a small addition of pink (scarf and nails) were the options I'd packed!
I know I've often quoted to having a three-colour-rule, but come on Mummab we need some colour injected into these outfits, otherwise they will always look boring, old and samey (made that word up!)

So without any more nattering here's how I looked over the weekend...

Wearing the skinny jeans I recently bought from H & M, catch where I wore them first here.  Pairing these with my double cuff shirt from TK Maxx, over this I wore a plain black jumper, again from H & M.

I feel a plain rather boring outfit was definitely overshadowed by the cute, leopard print chaise
longue I draped myself over -lol.

Who doesn't love a wrap over dress?  This is a bit of a cheat, but a much better idea, you see it's fixed at the waist so just gives the impression of a wrap around.  I purchased this many years ago, it comes out every once in a while, but feels like a new dress every time.  Neutral colours playing main role in my outfit selection this weekend.  Maybe red shoes or necklace would have been the pop of colour needed to compliment this look?

My last outfit I'm letting you see is SO boring I nearly couldn't let myself add it to my post,  so here it is - when preparing and packing I thought it looked perfect for wandering around the town before returning home, but I'm really upset with how it looked.
I'll be addressing the situation for my next weekend away to make sure some colour is added to everyone of my outfit choices!  Keep watching to see if I do!

  3. I think a set of neutral outfits is a great idea when on a trip as you know you can mix and match! I really like that dress particularly, reminds me of a little brown dress I used to have a few years ago that had a similar print :)

Hope you had a wonderful weekend :) Sounds like you would have!

  5. Jacqui, you have no worries. These outfits were perfect and I love to have a color theme when I travel. It makes packing so much easier. For example, I might pick the colors gray, pink and brown and then all the outfits I build from those colors. I might add in another color with my accessories. I love what you did, so relax. 6. Jacqui, that dress is fabulous! But I do think you are being too hard on yourself. I think the other "plain" outfits are perfect for a weekend away! I usually end up packing all neutrals and blacks when I travel, too. It is just easier. Thanks for joining my #SpreadTheKindness Link Up.

  7. The dress is fab, it's a very flattering fit. You look lovely in it! Neutrals are great for travelling when you don't want to take too much. Don't be upset with the last outfit, it's not boring at all xxx
