Day out in London - What I wore and what I did.

Hey there, want to know what I did yesterday?
Well if you follow me on IG you'll already know, but for those who don't  (why not?) here's what I got up to.

A wonderful day trip to our glorious city - London Town!

Living so near, about an hour away there was no need to leave at the crack of dawn, so a more acceptable ETD at 10am left me with plenty of time to get the house in order and get myself washed and suitably dressed for a date with the capital!

Parking locally we took no time in taking our place in the queue to alight the Emiratesairline cable car that took us across the Thames.  Seeing London from this vast height was amazing.  As the weather was as fabulous as it's been for the past few days we could see for miles,  Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, the O2 Dome, Canary Wharf, The Thames Barrier, The Cutty Sark and The Royal Observatory where amon other equally iconic buildings and attractions. The smooth crossing took about 12 - 13 minutes, and also had an information video running throughout the ride.

After a five minute walk we arrived at the Excel London Exhibitions and Convention Centre.
This was buzzing with people everywhere, it's such a huge centre housing many exhibitions at the same time, but we found our entrance to The Homebuilding and Renovating Show without too much searching.
Donning our lanyard, does anyone else feel 'Tres important' with one of these round their neck?
That was until I realised every other visitor had one on!!
Over the next hour and a half we circulated the whole venue. Gathering information and picking up leaflets.  With plenty of information filling my head and my bag, we decided it was time to leave.
So you know what happens after you've been walking around for a while, yes a drink/food stop was in order.
We returned on the cable car and headed for the pier.
Jumping on the Thames Clipper - it's a commuter service that runs into the centre of London.  Plenty of time for a beverage on board whilst we enjoyed the sights and contemplated where we should eat!

Today was more about comfort, so skinny jeans from Next were the obvious choice.  I've chosen this stripy shirt, casual, soft and suitable for yesterdays weather.  I took a pale blue cardigan, but quite frankly didn't need to take it as I didn't wear it.  Love these Next shimmery baseball trainers See here that I bought earlier in the year, now the weather has changed and they've been 'worn in', they'll be at the front of my shoes collection.

Arriving at the Embankment we headed towards Covent Garden.
Walking through the busy streets of London, such a vast array of eateries to choose from we picked
TGI Fridays.  I'm salivating whilst writing this recalling the delicious meal we both enjoyed,  Jack Daniel's Cajun-battered shrimp,  mouth-watering Jack Daniel's Ribs, fries and onion rings, and two, yes two glasses of prosecco!

Returning to the Thames clippers pier, we only waited roughly 10 minutes for the catamaran to arrive, stepping on board we had a relaxing journey back to the O2, made special because youngest son works for them and it was his vessel we got on.  We managed to catch up with eldest son who also works for clippers on a different service.  I managed to embarrass both our sons as only a mother can do!  I must add that I'm very proud of them both, as only a mother can be.

The typical Landmarks that symbolize you're in the Capital of London.
A City full of history, culture, commerce, Art, fashion and entertainment.  With some stunning sights including the likes of  Tower Bridge, The Tower of London and The London Eye.  Having visited  London many times before, it never ceases to leave me in awe and amazement of a glorious city.

Sometimes It's great to just get up and go, go off and do something that's out-of-the-norm, re-charge your batteries and just basically have fun!
Bye for today - catch up tomorrow. X
